Again I had great tasty ribs here and the brisket was good too. The cole slaw and the Mac and cheese were a little watery but the were very fresh and still very tasty. The rolls that were served were also warm and fresh. Today’s bonus was once again I came when a very talented group of elderly people were playing some great music. They had a bass, fiddle and lots of different guitars. It’s a must see experience.

When were craving bbq and don’t wanna go far, or get out of our car lol, we swing through here. They used to be really good but stopped in last Sunday, ordered brisket with the burnt«tips”/ ends but they didn’t give it to us. Their bbq sauce isn’t all that great either. Their sides are delicious though, but my FAV the only reason I stayed coming here, is the BAKEDPOTATOS. They’re huge and add chopped bbq, yum!

Their ribs are okay but not that great their side orders are not hot serve and it tastes like something they just threw together at the last minute do not try to side orders PS when you ordered the baked potato and I ask you do you want bacon on it you’re not getting bacon you’re getting Bakos you know that imitation bacon

In from out of town on business. Decided to try this place as the Unilocal reviews were fairly good. It was some of the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. I ordered brisket, mac & cheese and banana pudding. The only thing that was edible was the roll that came free with the meal. The brisket was nothing but fat, the mac and cheese had no flavor. It was so bad I ended up throwing it in the trash instead of eating it. I thought oh well at least I’ve got banana pudding. I was wrong. I didn’t know it was possible to ruin banana pudding but they managed. I took one bite and spit it out but unfortunately the flavor stayed with me even after several drinks of water. I ended up having to purchase a second meal elsewhere. Lesson learned.

Unfortunately we got here about 30 minutes before closing. Which meant the sides weren’t hot. But the pulled pork was delicious.

Just moved down the street so my husband and I thought we would give it a try. Hot links? Nothing special not even spicy I also got the mac & cheese and coleslaw again nothing special and the mac & cheese was actually dry and not cheesy just tasted like noodles. My husband got one of the loaded meat potatoes he liked it(he loves loaded potatoes) it was good portion for the price just be aware that when you open up the container with your potato in it there will be a pool, and I mean deep pool of grease. My real problem with this place was is we couldn’t understand why it came out to over $ 40. The kid working the register would not give us the receipt and just handed us our food and try to shoo us away. My husband had to go back in and told him he must’ve charged us wrong, he got loud and started argue with my husband saying that he was wrong. My husband had to do the math for him. When the guy behind the counter realized he was caught he was just like oh I thought you also ordered two chicken plates.(Which still wouldnt of added up to what he charged us) funny how did A sausage plate and a loaded potato sound anything like two chicken plates added to that? It was obvious they employee was trying to pocket the extra cash and it did not seem like the first time he’s done this. If you go here watch out.

Had the 3 meat plate, while its a bit light on quantity the quality is pretty good. Ribs are tasty, Hotlinks are good as well. The brisket is good, not at all dry like most other places but the coleslaw could use some work

Been in town for three weeks searching for good BBQ. I found it here. Food is served cafeteria style and they don’t have beer, but it was good food. I had brisket, pulled pork, beans and fried okra. Everything was delicious. May get a to-go order next and take home to have a beer with it.

I’ve really wanted to start the BBQ marathon, but have held off in large part because I don’t have the upper echelon places near me. With that said, I ventured out to Lone Star today. I was really craving BBQ today. I saw the 4 star review and was hoping for good things, but my gut told me that it’s 4 stars on 50+ ratings wouldn’t stack up to the best places with 4 stars that the Metroplex has to offer. Granted I haven’t tried the best places, but am educated enough with food to know. I will be fair and say that this review is for drive-thru only, but that won’t change my opinion of the food much if at all. The service was great. No issues there. It’s not a traditional drive-thru, however. You pull up the menu board; only to discover there is no speaker box. Don’t fret, it states on the board to pull forward to the window to place your order. Pro… It gives you ample time to study their offerings and make a decision. Now for the food: Pulled Pork Sandwich– Felt that the pulled pork was dry. The BBQ sauce helped. Bun was a soft sesame seed. I have tasted better. Fried Okra– Good crust. Okra stood up well after frying and wasn’t mushy. Sliced Brisket– I thought it was definitely good. It wasn’t the best I’ve had here in the Metroplex, but it was the highlight of the evening. I like mine with more fat so it’s not as dry. Macaroni and Cheese– Sub-par. Flavor wasn’t very cheesy. Bland. Just not very good at all. Potato Salad– Tasted very much like store bought. If it’s not, I apologize. Not very good. Roll– Tasted very fresh. Soft. Sweet. Delicious. BBQ Sauce– Vinegar based. Pretty good. More on the thin side. Frito Pie– Fritos as the base, BBQ beans, sauce, chopped beef, shredded cheddar cheese and a side of sour cream. I was really looking forward to this because where I am from we don’t have anything like it, but I just wasn’t impressed. To much going on with it and to many competing flavors. In conclusion, Lone Star didn’t hit the mark I was looking for, but I would definitely return again and get the brisket or other items I didn’t try with different sides. Not every restaurant floats all peoples boats and plenty of people like Lone Star, so I would not tell anyone not to try it.

This place is good! I’ve had their sliced brisket with potato salad and baked beans. Recently got a frito pie with chopped beef(even tho I could clearly see if was sliced brisket) it was still good, wish it was actually shredded like most placed have. Plus side they have a drive thru, just don’t expect great customer service. Could use a lot of improvement.

Food was delicious! Definitely hit the spot for the BBQ craving I’ve had! Had the lunch special(1 meat and 2 sides for $ 8). The pulled pork was tender, mac and cheese hot and cheesy. Fried okra was crunchy. You can choose your bbq sauce(sweet, spicy or regular). The regular had a nice tangy flavor. Next time I’ll get it on the side, he drowned the meat in it. Rolls were fresh. Will definitely be back!

Decent BBQ and glad it was close to the hotel. For being in Texas, though, I would expect more if I’m looking for it.

Service is as great as the food. Meat is tastey without the barbeque but if you desire sauce they have three to choose from. The sides are fresh and the sweet tea is a must! It will continue to be the only choice for barbeque for our dinner table.

Good menu items at a reasonable price. They have standard side dishes for BBQ. We come here a few times a year to meet up with friends. Since we live on the other side of town, we only eat here if we are on this side of town. You come in stand in line while examining the menu. They dish up your meat, the you go down the line for your sides. End up at the cash register where you pick up your glass for the drinks. The last stop is the table with pickles, onions, and peppers. Pile them on like you like them. Small groups are OK, but I would not recommend over 8. You can push a few tables together if you find room.

Stopped in here the other night for the first time. I ordered the Two meat combo and asked for brisket and sausage and instead of two sides I wanted a baked potato. I always do this at dickies. They charged me a dollar for the potato which I found ridiculous. The sausage was good but the brisket was the driest brisket I have ever had. I actually had to cut it with a knife. Very disappointing as I love a good moist brisket. The sausage was good however and my mom had ribs and she said they were very good and meat off the bone. We went on the night they have a bluegrass band. I’m not sure if it’s because it was Christmas time but it was more like country Christmas instead of Bluegrass. The band consisted of about seven senior citizens which I thought was really cute. They even have their own little senior citizen groupies. Very sweet. they played well and the music wasn’t too loud that we could not have conversations. The place was fair but it will not be my go to barbecue place.

THEIRBAKEDPOTATOESYA’LL!!! My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. I have a hard time ordering anything else here because… look at the picture I posted! So, so good!(I always get the ham, that with the melty cheese, etc is perfection) I wish I could speak for their other food but I will say that my daughter loves their fried catfish and my hubby said their ribs were really good and tender. I am always wanting to support local businesses and this one is great. The staff is always extremely nice and we have never had a bad meal here. If you are craving a big, meaty baked potato, go here!

(4⁄5 stars = 80%. A score of a B). Well, I guess with my family being from Louisiana & me growing up in Houston, the food is okay to me. My grandmother wanted BBQ so she sent me here. We ordered the family special of BBQ chicken with the sides. I love Texas toast & that should be easy to fix. I enjoyed that. The chicken was actually good to me. Nice, tender, & smoked. The green beans were spicy(mainly pepper), but was missing that kick that I’m used to. I love spicy food, but with that creole flavor. The Mac n cheese was okay also. I guess I’m comparing it to my family’s homemade baked Mac n cheese. I had the fried green beans and they were good. So overall, with the items I had, I consider it average BBQ for me. I will have to check out the other items on their menu. But for where I’m visiting, this place had the best reviews on here. Finally, my five year old daughter enjoyed the chicken & Mac n cheese so I guess that’s a good thing.

I’m usually worried about getting BBQ at a restaurant during its slow hours. The last thing I want is dry hunks of meat. But this place did not disappoint. I got the family meal 1 which comes with sliced beef, BBQ sauce, beans, potato salad, cole slaw and 3 burger buns, and added on ribs. The family doesn’t eat BBQ sauce so we skipped that during the meal entirely. The sliced beef was good. It was tender and I loved the smoky flavor. The ribs were nice, but not impressive. All the sides were okay, my favorite being the potato salad. I got this to go in the drive thru window. Service and quick and friendly, parking lot clean, and everything was packaged neatly.
