Villa Romanza

SOOOO many other Italian restaurants in the area. All I can ask is why. The only reason for two stars is that the portions are large. Quality is acceptable. I was expecting Gordon Ramsey to show up to film Kitchen Nightmares.

Great place. Food is genuine, fresh, delicious and priced well and atmosphere is quiet and classy. Don’t miss dessert!

Can someone, please, tell all of us if this place is open or closed. The lights are seldom on, there are few to no cars in the lot and very limited activity. The reviews here are dated and if they are in business the world would like to know.

My mother received a gift card for this restaurant and we were hesitant after reading the reviews on here. I haven’t been to the location since it was Giovanni’s so we weren’t sure what to do but tried it anyways.
So glad we did! This had to have been the best meal I’ve had in a long time. When we pulled into the parking lot we were worried because there were only two cars parked in the lot. The lights were on so we went in. The bar off to the right had chairs stacked and lights off so we thought it was closed until we walked further back and found someone at the bar. He quickly apologized and seated us. There was only one couple in the restaurant and us. Our server, Pattie, was incredibly kind and took great care of us, explaining the specials and offering suggestions. We had the fried calamari which was fresh and melted in your mouth. The bread was amazing, fresh and right out of the oven. Salad was amazing, yummy with a nice oil and vinegar dressing. My mom had the stuffed tilapia with asparagus and potato wedges and I had the Polo Salvatore which was out of this world. The chicken was melt in your mouth with huge shitake mushrooms and delicious potato wedges instead of pasta. For dessert we had the coco and spumoni tartuffo. Both were out of this world. It kills me to know that this place has amazing food yet we were the only ones in there. Nice to have our own little private party on a Saturday night but people in the area don’t know the hidden gem they are missing. Please come out and enjoy really amazing authentic homemade Italian cuisine. You won’t be sorry — and ask for Pattie, she’s awesome!

Simply put — this place has impressive, authentic Italian food. The first thing I noticed when I got to the restaurant is how helpful and friendly everyone was … always a great start. The owner zipped through the restaurant several times ensuring all was right with the world. All the food — including the appetizers — came out piping hot (which is my litmus test for something to look for in a great restaurant). I had the tried and true Chicken Marsala — and it was perfectly done. They boast that everything is made in-​house and homemade — and it shows. And while I didn’t stick around for dessert, they have a nice array of treats to tempt your sweet tooth. If you’re looking for a place to hold a business meeting or social gathering, this joint has plenty of event space too. All in all, an unexpected, amazing experience — in the heart of Hamilton, NJ.

Just to mention we decided not to return after our last visit. It was just too annoying.

Went there on Father’s Day night with my family (party of 8) for dinner and had just about the worst experience ever. We were the ONLY people in there for a 6 pm dinner. They had a limited «Holiday Menu» which seemed to serve only as a way to charge more for the same horrible food.
Started with clam chowder, fried calamari, and coconut shrimp for the table. The chowder was so salty that most of us couldn’t even eat it. The calamari was terribly bland and tasteless and served with an equally flavorless marinara sauce. The coconut shrimp was burnt to shit and when we commented the waitress said nothing and just walked away. We tried it anyway and it was mostly breading with tiny shrimp inside. Disappointing appetizers overall for the price.
Then she brought out a family style salad which was OK aside from the sad, wilted lettuce that was browning on the edges.
Then finally the main course. Wow what a let down for $ 17.99. I ordered the chicken Valdostana which was supposed to be stuffed chicken breast served over pasta. The chicken breast was smaller than my hand and pounded/​cooked to hell so it was dry and flavorless and the stuffing (spinach, prosciutto, cheese) was so bland, i picked most of it out. It was served on a GIANT plate that was sloppily filled with overcooked pasta and smothered with a bland vodka sauce. For 17.99, it was disappointing to say the least. My boyfriend and his mother both ordered the dijon salmon. The waitress brought out something entirely different and then proceeded to just stare at us when we told her it was the wrong menu item. She then told us that what she brought out was what they had ordered instead of graciously fixing the error. What she brought back was at least what they ordered, but it was equally disappointing. What was advertised as dijon salmon topped with crab meat over asparagus came out a hot mess. It was salmon smothered in another creamy, bland sauce containing a few small pieces of crab meat and diced asparagus. Another let down, but hey, at least it was what they ordered.
Overall our experience was filled with bad food and bad service and an overpriced menu. This place needs a serious menu/​chef/​staff upgrade. People want human portions of GOOD food, not just ginormous portions of inedible food.
Additionally, members of our party who had arrived earlier said the first table they were at was covered with ants and the waitress asked them if they «would like to move»…um no duh… Had I known that I would have moved to another restaurant.

I’ve seen the transformation of this restaurant from Yardville Inn to Giovi’s to American Sushi South and now to Villa Romanza. The décor is quite different. I think my wife and I were the only ones in this place not wearing blue jeans. Theme is Italian. They start you off with these nice popovers with parmesan cheese topping covered in olive oil and served in an olive oil, parsley, garlic and cheese dipping oil. We had the Bruschetta which was probably the best I’ve had. My wife ordered the gnocchi which was enough to feed 2. I had the seafood lasagna which contained lobster, shrimp and crab meat. Large portions and very tasty. Came with a newburgh style lobster sauce with melted mozzarella. Quite inexpensive. The service was very good. I recommend and will be back. Very good for large groups as well.
