We had clam chowder yesterday it was the worst clam chowder I’ve ever had !!! Both my wife and I thought it was like having gravy with a few particles of clams and potatoes in it, with no clam chowder flavor

We’ve been here many times and the food and service is always great. I get baked or broiled oysters and my husband gets halibut fish & chips, both come with cole slaw, either baked potato or fries and wonderful toasted french bread. This isn’t fancy, more like a «gathering» place so no need to dress up! Want a drink, they have a bar … want to eat outside under cover, in warmer weather.

In town for business and driving along the coast and someone local suggested this place for fish and chips. Both my husband and I got that and we both loved ours. Good coleslaw and fries. Then had the ice cream and berry cobbler which was the topping on the cake. Great service.

My family and I have been going here for years! Great people, good food, good drinks. Clam chowder is pretty good, halibut fish and chips are super yummy, and I love their garlic bread. It makes me sad that others have had a negative experience. I’ve always had positive ones in the 20+ years I’ve been going there. As far as restaurants in the area go, it’s way cleaner than«the other» bar near by.(Don’t say you weren’t warned).

Over priced service took forever two burgers came after about 30 minutes the third took another 15 minutes me and my wife were almost done eating by the time our friend got his burger, and for the price of a burger you can get a ribeye steak across the street

This is my Sunday morning go to place when I’m staying on the northern Oregon coast. It’s nothing fancy, it’s just a bar. My disclaimer is that Sunday morning is the only time I’ve eaten here, and Dungeness Crab eggs Benedict is the only thing I’ve eaten here. But if you like crab and you like eggs benedict, you should love the Crab Eggs Benedict at Bouy 9!!! The crab is always FRESH and it’s a good amount of crab. They use a biscut instead of an english muffin. At first I didn’t think I’d like the biscut, but, it’s really good. There’s just the right amount of holladaise sauce and it’s always been good. The potatoes are nothing special, but the crab makes up for any short comings there. Don’t forget the Bloody Mary, nothing fancy but nice with the breakfast.

The bowl of clam chowder I had was absolutely delicious as was the marion berry cobbler ala mode that I took home to have as an evening snack, the portion was so large it ended up being a meal in itself.

This was our first time there and the food and service was absolutely amazing. They have set a new standard for seafood restaurants!

Headed to Buoy 9 after a long, exciting day of fishing. Five in our party: one who’s been here many times, and four of us who hadn’t yet. We all had fish & chips. The server was friendly and prompt, she kept our beers and waters fresh. The food was delicious, no one had leftovers. The price was fair. We sat on the outside deck talking and laughing, as were all the other diners on the deck. Perfect end to a great day! We will definitely be back before the season ends.

Absolutely horrible, in all aspects! First, the server seemed clueless. Didn’t get our drink order right, told her and she still screwed it up. We wanted to share clam strips with everyone and the server recommended the entrée not the app. Because it was bigger. If the entrée was bigger then I’d hate to know the size of app. It was like a ¼ cup and mostly fries. Horrible recommendation on her part. Everyone got the clam chowder and I must say it was super bland and disappointing. The bill came to $ 66 I was in total shock. Waist of time, money and appetite. Over priced and not worth the trip.

What a gem just outside of Astoria. Excellent food(had the blackened Cajun chicken sandwich). Friendly staff, very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a great place to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning. Bouy 9 is the place for you. You get get great food at a great price! And if you want a Bloody Mary that’s available too. Weekend specials include things like Crab eggs Benedict. They don’t scrimp on the Crab either! Don’t expect a rose vase and linen at your table but you can expect prompt courteous service that will make you happy to leave a tip.

Nostalgia at it’s best. Used to come here with my grandparents so many years ago for the crab louie. Came back 20 years later in honor of my grandparents and the food was great, service friendly and nice small town feel for me being an LA hipster.

My buddies and I search for the best breakfast on the north coast and have discovered that breakfast at buoy 9 has taken first place. We will continue to «test» them to be sure they keep there #1 position. The only drawback is that breakfast is only served on weekends.

Cozy atmosphere and good service, but subpar food. The restaurant is on the smaller size, with a wall separating from the bar/lounge area, with fishing themed décor. Menu is typical seafood/American, with seafood dishes, pasta, burger, sandwiches, etc. Unfortunately the menu did not have any descriptions and when asked about the«buoy burger», all the server could offer is that it was very big and probably has ham. Prices were higher than expected for this kind of restaurant, e.g. extra $ 2 to add fries with your burger or sandwich. Nothing really stood out to me on the menu, so I went with a small portion of chicken tenders and fries($ 9). Large amount of food that included four pieces of chicken on the small side, lots of fries, piece of buttery bread, and side of cole slaw. The chicken looked like fried fish, with a thick bread-y breading that was on the greasy side. Fries were okay, cole slaw too saucy for my liking. I tried a spoonful of clam chowder, which was very thick and had nice tender potato chunks. My companion had the seafood fetticini($ 25), which appeared to have a good amount of fish, shrimp, and scallops… but was drowning in massive amounts of sauce. Like I’ve never seen so much sauce in a pasta dish before. Big pieces of shrimp, but not completely cleaned out. Servers were friendly and checked in throughout the meal, no wait to order/get drinks refilled/pay bill, and food and additional condiments came out quickly. Apparently you can play lotto during your meal because there’s lotto tickets at the table(the kind where you fill in the numbers).

I went in for lunch. I got the 2 piece fish and chips and a cup of clam chowder. Both were really good. The fish came out hot and well cooked. I really liked the clam chowder. I even got some to go to eat later. The waiter was nice and helpful. I will go back.

Someone roll me out of here cause I’ve eaten a huge bowl of one of the best clam chowder’s on the Oregon coast! Every spoon full had a big, juicy, fresh clam(not bits of clam, not baby canned clams!) swimming in a buttery, rich, New England style chowder. But wait, there’s more! Two pounds of steamers! Two pounds for $ 20! You can’t get that in Vegas! And talk about fresh from the ocean! They had been harvested that morning! Steamed and served with butter, lemon, and garlic toast. I sopped up the clam liquor with the bread! When I come back to visit, I’m coming back to Buoy 9!

Dang it!!! Soooo upsetting Even Prime Rib now is so bad bland, reheated 55.90 for 2 orders to go of reg cut prime rib No butter or sour cream given. The juice of meat is normally flavored, it was just meat juice. Until they fix whatever got broken chef, prices, etc… I can’t recommend or go there any longer!!! So worried about the direction of a place I use to eat lunch, dinner at least 3 times a week!

Stopped by after Salmon Fishing for some food and beer… Did not know what I was getting into… But it turned out to be «Local Favorite» hangout. I had the burger which was just fine, but it is hard to mess up a burger… But my fishing buddy had the fish & chips, and said it was very good. The beer was cold and the service was good… It is a good place to hang your hat for a spell! Enjoy, WEST-MORRIS

Both Buoy 9 is half restaurant, with the other half being a full bar. That said I was immediately turned off upon entering with the foul odor. This place could really use a good cleaning and it’s probably way past time for an updated remodel. The food choices were varied between typical bar fare and fried seafood selections. Prices were high for portion size, and substitutions are not offered. Like other reviewers noted server attitude can be a little surly and our server has clearly perfected the ability to walk into the dining area while avoiding eye contact with tables she should be serving. Left after waiting for a drink refill for 15 minutes.
