Lost Marsh Golf Course

Very nice banquets. I came here for a business meeting and it was gorgeous. As I walked in I loved the fountain, easy place to get around and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Thanks everyone for everything keep up the good work!

This review is mostly in regards to the starter «John» who was the rudest starter I have ever dealt with. I’ll spare you the details but let’s just say if you enjoy paying money to get verbally abused by a crotchety old man then this is the course for you. I did complain to the manager about him and he did seem to handle the issue but it still does not completely rectify the distasteful experience I had. The course itself is fun and challenging kind of like a generic Harbor Side.

From a golf course perspective this course is a ⁴⁄₅. But if you want to play a round in 5 hours and 30 mins and pay $ 68 for that not so fun enjoyment than this is the place for you. They allow guys to play from the tips who can’t hit it past the women’s tees. They allow you to look for your ball for over 10 minutes and best yet, when you complain to the ranger, he does nothing and says «next round on me». Apparently this is has been going on for some time and we have yet to hear from the manager. There are far better courses in the area that are less expensive and more enjoyment than that place!

Interesting course… make sure your warmed up because the opening 4 holes will test your accuracy and ball striking ability. I was lucky to be only 2 over thru the first 4 holes. The course was well maintained and fairways were lush. The greens however were very soft and very slow which I hate because gauging the speed was tough. If they speed up the greens it can be a fun course. I paid $ 52 with cart which is reasonable close to Chicago. You can walk the course, some elevation but if your in decent shape it will be a good healthy walk.

Islands, woods, links all in one. Friendly staff, but horrible management. We waited out a small rain and after playing two more hole were pulled off the course by the ranger. When we drove back to the clubhouse we found the course open and people teeing off. Why were we pulled off the course? I would not come back. Stupidity in the ranks makes for a poor experience. Charged summer rates in the springtime, and weekend rates on a Friday. What gives Hammond? Friday is a weekday. If you take the skyway it’s $ 13 in tolls round trip.

We played 5 holes in 2hrs before walking off the course. They were good enough to give us a refund.

The most challenging course I’ve played this year. It rained after 2 holes and they gave us a raincheck without any questions asked! The course is well maintained and monitored by several rangers. It is pretty pricey at $ 67 for a round if you are not playing after 2pm on the weekends!

Love wide open fairways and a nice leisurely round of golf this is not a place for you! Love a challenge, consider yourself a shot maker? Want to hone your accuracy? Then you will not find a better golf course in Chicago Land. Cared for like a county club. Great practice areas and driving range. A hidden gem that is sparsely populated during the week. Get here before the word gets out. Oh and did I mention a clubhouse that looks like it wasFrankLloydWright. The toughest front 5 in the Midwest. Love it.

I don’t even know where to start with this place! I play quite a bit of golf around the Chicagoland area and Lost Marsh is thee worst course I’ve played in years.
For starters the greens fee is $ 67. It’s a $ 40 course at best! I’d compare it to Waters Edge in Worth.
The greens are in absolutely terrible condition. Not only diseased and damaged, but overgrown, not rolled, and covered in crap!
They also failed to tell us that there was a pollen problem on the course. It was like playing in a snow storm. Ridiculous! No mention of this at all when I called to inquire about course conditions.
Now the tee boxes. What a joke! Half are overgrown with weeds and and thick patches of gras. The other half appear to have been tilled and rocks spread over them.
Oh and let’s not forget the fairways. They look like the guy cutting them was blind. There is diseased damage everywhere and sprouts of random weeds on every fairway.
All in all one of the most disappointing golf courses I’ve played in many years!
They should be issuing refunds for this type of golf experiences!
Everyone in our group is in agreement. This course is off our list.

This course is only 20 – 25 miles from downtown Chicago. Even in rush hours, it only takes 25 – 35 minutes using the Skyway.
I’ve played here three times in the past two months. The course condition was always great. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are well kept. Kudos to the superintendent and the maintenance staff. The course’s design is challenging and will for sure test your patience and skills. Bring extra balls; you’ll likely need them.
For a public golf course, the clubhouse is big and really nice. The bar is great, albeit somewhat expensive.
The staff, for the most part, is nice and helpful, from the people in the pro shop to the starters and the teaching pro.
This place’s Archilles’ heel, however, is the manager named Ken who sometimes would waltz around the driving range and give disparaging remarks to certain groups of golfers. «Try not to tear up this place», «I hit 100 balls and took less grass than your 10 shots», he’d say as he drives his cart pass people’s hitting areas. This guy has very bad people skill for someone who is a manager. He is either too arrogant or simply lacks the faculty to comprehend that not all golfers are single digit handicapers or pros. His harassment tactic is bad for business and is the course’s liability. This bad apple spoils an otherwise excellent place.

Had a great lunch here with the Mrs. I thought the menu was perfect for a lunch menu. My only complaint would be we waited a good 5 mintues to get seated not because they were busy but because the hostess and wait staff were hanging out just around the corner of the entrance so they never saw us. Manager came and told them we were there waiting.

You are almost hitting a home run.
Because of your lack of a good turn food option it put us 8 minutes behind. We would have preferred the ranger to politely and respectfully ask us to speed it up instead of demanding it. We had just started the 14^th hole. My threesome are all seasoned golfers who are respectful of course time management and play. The ranger was not a respectful course manager. We finished in 4 hours, 20 minutes. Not too bad.
While the cart return area guy was nice, when asked how to get to the bar, he could said more than just up the stairs. We felt silly trying all the locked doors before making it around to the front. Also, the bar was not aware of the charity raffle and there was some confusion when trying to redeem the coupons. There should be better communications.
The proshop guys were very nice. The older gentleman was very helpful.
The course and on course amenities were fantastic. The clubhouse is one of the nicest in all of Chicagoland as is the course. Bravo on the wonderful new electric carts also.
Keep up the good work, make some needed customer service adjustments and you will be hitting a Grand Slam! I suggest the least you should have is a hot dog cart at the turn. Many food vendors would happily take on this assignment.

Excellent course for the price and the folks that work in the pro shop and bar are great. Close to the city and a way better value than that other links style course in the area that is overpriced with staff that like to pretend they are Chicago’s version of Pebble Beach.
Greens are generally well kept and fairways are in good shape.
The clubhouse is beautiful, the drinks are inexpensive, and the food excellent.
A couple holes seem gimmicky at first but become more enjoyable each time you go back with #3 being one of the hardest in Chicagoland.

I really like this course. It is kept in great condition. It has well-​kept greens, fairways, and they use really nice sand in their traps. It’s a steal for the price.

The rebuilt the clubhouse (well, I think the casino’s may have) but anyway, it is amazing now. It is such an improvement over the old double wide they used to have. Its a proper place to eat lunch and good course to play on. Its worth the visit to the club house for a meal, the food is good and I have returned there many times for lunch and dinner. Friendly staff and prompt service. AND its open to the public, people like you and me.

This review is regarding the restaurant. Bad service. I ordered ranch on my salad but came with balsamic vinegarette on the salad with ranch on the side. The person I was with did not get their order right either. They did not take anything off of our bill but gave us dessert that neither one of us wanted.

This is a great golf course for the price and the place of play is great. Everyone is riding a cart (how it should be) to maintain great pace of play. The holes are challenging and there is one hole where you have to tee off to a fairway (about 30 yards wide) that is surrounded by water. Great place to place where accuracy and distance control is key. Highly recommended this place and probably played here about 15 times.

I know alot of people in the area despise that this place was built because a whole lot of the town’s money was sunk into this project, and I see where they are coming from but at the same time the land they tore down was gross anyways. I’m not sure what to think about it honestly, but what’s done is done and I’ve been here to practice putting and go to the drive range a few times with my buddy Jim or my dad and uncle Rick. I also played the course once with Rick, though that’s the only time I’ve ever played a whole game. I had fun, though I haven’t gone lately, I do plan to go back sometime during nice weather.
