History
Established in 1999.
Brian Hobson Karate Studio was established in 1999, by co-owners: Brian Hobson and his father Charles Hobson.
The business first opened up in the Willow Oaks Shopping Center, in the Fox Hill section of Hampton.
It was not until 2005 when the business moved to its current and more centralized location of 1921 Armistead Ave.
Since the very beginning we have enjoyed very robust class numbers with very little to no advertising. We heavily rely on a strong word of mouth to gain our student base. We understand that customer service is of the utmost importance. So providing our clients with a spacious, clean facility along with the very best in challenging martial art instruction is our number one priority. You will find that our «drop-out» numbers our very low.

Business Owner
At the age of 29, Brian Hobson knew he was nearing the end of his competitive career. Spending 10 consecutive years of both the USA Karate Junior and Senior Teams and accruing over 20 national championships Brian began to look at giving back to his Hampton community roots and open his own dojo with his father.
Charles Hobson had recently retired as an Executive from AT&T Headquarters and moved back into the area. He always wanted to own a small business and he saw this as a perfect time to bond with his son.
Charles possessed a Masters degree in Business Administration.
Brian possessed a Masters degree in Sports Management.
