Best sushi in Hampton! Every time I come to town from Los Angeles I always make sure to hit this place. It’s the closest sushi i’ve found that comes close to LA eats. The guys who run it are super cool and hospitable. And the salmon is dope as hell !

Love this place– it’s a must have when I’m in town visiting family. It’s my go to for hibachi and sushi. It’s a small, family owned business too! Shop small and reap the delicious rewards.

Sushi bars come in two flavors: made to order and pre-made choices. Soya is made to order rolls and they are awesome. Even the Yaki-soba is cooked on order. Very fresh. What I like about Soya that is different from other sushi places is the imagination of the twin cooks on innovative rolls. Check the special whiteboard for interesting choices and different flavor matches. Like taking pictures of your food? This is the place. Presentation is awesome. Jalapeño Roll is my phone background! Beautiful.

Food is great!!! Although I waited about 90 years for my food it was definitely worth the wait. Best volcano roll I’ve had. Hence the review. Lol I ordered the volcano & Proquoson(who cares lol) roll with seaweed salad. Waitress was legit and was the only one working the room. Décor?! Forget about it !! Lol nothing to boast or brag about! Actually had boxes of things sitting around. It’s not bad to look at but let’s just say they may have spent more on the products vs an interior designer. I’m a foodie so that’s the last thing on my mind. It’s a typical sushi spot but the food is amazing and very Americanized without losing its traditional aspect.

My first impression not so good ONLY because we(my office) ordered for delivery and was told it was going to be over an hour so I then asked well what if we come pick it up and she said we will not be able to start cooking your order for at least an hour. SOOOOOOOOOO we decided to give them another shot and ordered 1.5 hours before our lunch hour and it arrived in our office within an hour the food was delicious. Wasn’t to fond of the darker sauce that came with the Hibachi but to each their own, nor did they give us any yum yum sauce(which to me is the best sauce). They did not bring our soup so we called back and the young man stated that for delivery you do not get soup(as it states on the menu) BUT he didn’t tell us that either so he will bring us our soup and a few minutes later our soup arrived. EXCEPTIONALCUSTOMERSERVICE! HATSOFFTOYOU! Thank you for going above and beyond. Just an FYI to those getting delivery… NOSOUPCOMESWITHYOURORDER. We will be ordering again from them.

Since I live in Virginia beach it is hard to find good sushi in Hampton but like always I start with simple tempura shrimp sushi. If you mess that up I will not venture any further. It was very good and their spicy mayo is just right. Thank you for serving me today.

I have been here a few times for the teriyaki. I am fairly certain that this is the best you can get in Virginia.

The best thing about my meal was the rice. The rice was pretty tasty. The rest of the meal just wasn’t what I expected. I got hibachi chicken and rice. It came with the sweet carrots. And veggies. The chicken seemed to be teriyaki or something. There was also some type of ginger sauce. It wasn’t bad, although I would have preferred the normal«pink» shrimp sauce im accustom to. The wait was also kind of long. It is a small restaurant so I understand that. I waited for about 20 mins. For those who don’t have a long lunch break I advise you to call your order in.

Good sushi. Delivery is good. Green bean tempura is so yum. I also love my dragon roll. Service is a little slow for those wanting to try just to be warned.

Wrote a review a while back but after visiting a few more times I felt it was time for an update. I still say it’s some of the best sushi in Virginia without hesitation. Any complaints I had since the last time have been fixed, which shows that the owners care about their customers opinions. The servers are prompt and welcoming, the restaurant has steady hours and they now offer delivery! I couldn’t ask for more and will continue to bring friends and family to eat here. Like I said before, if you’re in the area give this place a try.

The sushi here is really fresh and almost melts in your mouth. The watermelon roll was my favorite. You can tell that the quality of the food here is great, one of the best sushi restaurants in the Hampton Roads area. Their fried rice and shrimp shumai were also delicious! The service was also super fast and very attentive, its a small restaurant with quality food and great staff. Will be returning!

I used to get sushi here, somewhat regularly, about 3 years ago. For the past 3 years, the Navy had me located in Japan. Now that I’m back in the Norfolk area? This is the one of the only places I will go to eat sushi! For one, I love their wide variety of nigiri, which is pretty much the only type of sushi you’ll be eating in Japan. Their rolls are amazing as well, I just don’t care for them anymore. Also, the texture and temperature of the sushi is as close to what I experienced in Japan as I’ve found in this area. I will definitely be remaining a loyal customer! The atmosphere is good, they’re in a convenient location, and the staff is wonderful.

I have no complaints. I came with my friend she had the dragon roll & I had the tempura salmon, we both ordered a California roll as well. You seat yourself, it’s a cozy little restaurant and they prepare the sushi in view of the customers. Our server was amazing he even gave us a salad on the house. Presentation was nice and the food was delicious. Service was fast as well, the prices were good … Will definitely come back!

My husband and I loved Soya when we used to live in Hampton. So when we were in town, we stopped in to reminisce. Unfortunately, they were out of shumai, sad face so they decided to bring us fried gyoza instead. I would’ve preferred it steamed but didn’t want them to have to remake it so we just ate it. It was really good, a little too fried for my liking, however. We ordered a seaweed salad and a house ginger salad. They both tasted good but the house salad was seriously like 7 pieces of chopped iceberg. Tiny! The sushi was pretty good. Sushi related, we ordered the Seattle IlI, which is a California roll topped with crab and baked. I asked for it spicy but it wasn’t spicy at all. It still tasted so great, same as it used to. We also ordered some kani maki and a roll with eel and eel sauce, Godzilla, maybe? Everything was well prepared and tasty, just very very small portions. Even for lunch, we were surprised at the minimal amount of food on the plates. We left still starving but held out somehow amazingly until dinner. Service was stellar btw.

You will not find a better Volcano Roll! It is a quaint, family owned restaurant with a very intimate local feel. These brothers are great at making tasty food!

First — I am very surprised it is only averaging a 3 star rating — I work around the corner and this has been our go-to lunch spot for sushi for years. The twins know us when we come in — I believe they own it — they are always working hard, making sushi, cleaning, prepping — never really see them slacking off but if I did, they deserve it. Their male server does need some work. He’s not fast and often we wait a long time in between stages of the meal. The twins kinda know this and I sit at the chef’s table on purpose — twins usually take our order and get it going while the server gets our soup/salad for the lunch special. The lunch special is a great deal $ 10.95 for soup/salad and 2 rolls of your choice. At times the rolls have been better than other times — maybe off days but I don’t think much of it. The other day they forgot cream cheese in my daughter’s roll but it was still good, and I hate wasting food so since it didn’t change the rotation of the Earth, I let it go. I’ve been for all kinds of food there over the years and haven’t left heartbroken. The food comes fast and it’s nice that they know us and always have a smile for us or something nice to say. Great place and I’d recommend it to anyone. I’ve had business lunches there, dinners, long lost friend reunions there… you name it. Great place!
