Planet Subaru

We bought a Subaru Outback there. Nate was great! Really tough negotiator, but when it was all said and done, they replaced in total six tires over two years. The first two went flat, on separate occasions, in the parking lot and instead of patching them up, they replaced both. Later when there was some wear and tear on the tires they replaced all four, free of charge. The only thing about the place is when your leaving it can be tough to see the right turn only sign. Other than that we’d buy another Outback from them.

Brett is the service manager and really takes great care of us and our cars, we feel very safe entrusting them with our cars. We bought two cars from here and Deb, Bob, and Nick are a seamless team, If you are apprehensive about buying a car you will be in good hands and they are very honest we have enjoyed our experience here 100%

Very positive experience. And I came here — after having a experience at Cityside Subaru in Belmont. Pat and RJ were transparent and reasonable, and I recommend them and the dealership to others. Also, my young daughter enjoyed the visit as well because of the friendly dogs that hang out in the showroom.

Not like your typical car dealership. They didn’t try to force any sales on me, I knew which car I wanted when I went there and they were very friendly and polite. They took care of a lot of the little annoying things for me like insurance and getting plates and they saved me a trip to the rmv.
I also love that they have a dog there who walks around and you can pet him. Bonus points for that.
When I bought my car there I had to order it since it was brand new, I was really excited to get the car and they called me immediately once it arrived. By the time my car had arrived they had all of the paperwork sorted thru and all I needed was to sign a couple papers and I was able to leave with my brand new car.
My only suggestion is to not opt for the passport program. I originally signed up for it and it includes free tires and free car washes with a couple other goodies as long as you get your oil changes and maintenance done there. What they didn’t tell me was that the free tires were only for normal wear so when I got a nail in my tire they wanted to charge me $ 290 for a new one. Also the services are really expensive, so that program really isn’t worth it.
Other than that, this is an excellent dealership and I will be back when I’m in the market for another new car.

My hope is to warn others…
During recent visit I wanted to test drive a particular Subaru model not found elsewhere. Checked their site and exact model, color, and options were shown. Filled out web information prior to visit. When I arrived there was no car to try, very disappointing. Was told another was inbound and if I wanted it I was to pay FULL MSRP to purchase it. I don’t know about other people but I have never paid full MSRP for any car.
Salesman was nice but unwilling to budge on price, or his manager was not willing, no matter. This Stealership will not be getting my business. Checked Kelly Blue Book and other sites for new car prices and they were not close by any measure. I don’t think they want to sell new cars.
Buyer beware.

Jeff, thank you for the update/​response, I don’t think consumers should have to settle for something different because you have other models to offer. Not my fault the manufacturer limits what dealers receive. Perhaps someone from Subaru USA will see this and understand the issues and provide a better experience for other buyers. I find it difficult to believe a car company doesn’t want greater market share or does Subaru have capacity issues? Sorry to say Planet Subaru will not receive my business now or in the future.

I would not hesitate doing business with Planet Subaru. The dealership has given me topnotch information and customer service for researching and buying my vehicle. Truly the best!

From first email to final signature my experience was 5 stars. These guys gave me a real price right off the bat and after shopping around at other dealerships realizing they were using low prices as a bait and switch I ended up right back here paying a lower price than anywhere else.
Ask for RJ — he’s very knowledgable about the cars, responsive via email, and a no-​pressure salesman.
I can’t remember the finance guy’s name but he was really good too. Got me a great rate — and didn’t pressure me into any additional service packages etc.
I know I will be back in 6 years to trade in my ride for another and this time I won’t have to go from dealer to dealer getting BS’ed first.

Great dealership! No hassle pricing, very fair and reasonable pricing on new and used vehicles. Jamie McGuinness made the process so easy.

The folks at this dealership were incredibly accommodating and seemed honest and passionate about their cars. They didn’t try to sell me more than I needed, were very responsive on the phone and over email, and stayed late so I didn’t feel rushed. The dealership has a very cool vibe — solar panels, a show room dog, granola bars for snacks. They clearly know their market!

What brought me to Planet Subaru 5 years ago to buy my first Subaru was a recommendation from another customer. What keeps me coming back for regular service, maintenance and repairs are the people. Over the past 5 years I like that I see some of the same faces in sales and service – which means to me people love working there which translates to a better customer experience. I’ve got 80,000 miles on my car and have spent my fair share to keep it going based on my driving habits. Sure, you always pay more when you bring a car to the dealer but I have never felt not in good hands or mistreated. They are a fair dealership. I also like the «lunar» car loaner program where you can schedule service and borrow a car for the day to get to work.

If you’re looking for a traditional dealership, go elsewhere.
The entire sales, deliver, and service experience with them has been amazing. I did almost all negotiation over the phone and through email before I went in to drive the car. There was no pressure, EVER. They even let me take the car out on a test drive on my own (I hate when salespeople sit shotgun and fiddle with nobs while I’m trying to get a feel for the car).
A day after I took delivery an electronic module failed on the car, nothing critical, but annoying idiot lights came on. When I called them they were incredibly apologetic. The service manager called me directly and said they were going to send someone to my office with a loaner vehicle and transport my car back to the dealership for diagnostics. It’s a new car and there is sometimes a «break-​in» period. I dealt with this with a new VW I bought, though they treated mechanical failures as a chance to sell me a new car.
All in all I would HIGHLY recommend Planet. I dealt with both Deb and Dennis, though the entire staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly.

I bought a pre-​owned Subaru Outback from Planet Subaru and the experience was absolutely horrible. I paid more than $ 24,000 for my car and when I asked for a valet key I was told that they couldn’t give me one because they don’t come with ‘used cars.’ The paperwork was delayed because the person that was supposed to get it together was, last minute, out of the office and no one knew what, how, or when my car would be available to pick up. I took a day off of work only to get the run around from them. Half the time, my calls went to voicemail with no call back. The kicker of my whole experience with Planet Subaru… A month after I bought the car, my mechanic told me that two of the tires had low tread and shouldn’t have been allowed out of the dealership. I went back to Planet Subaru and told them what my mechanic said and the guy at the service desk actually agreed with him and they ended up replacing three tires on the car. That is when I asked to speak to the manager (EVERY time I tried to speak to him by phone he was unavailable). He told me that I should be very happy that they gave me three new tires. I responded should never have left the lot in the first place. It was also during this conversation that I was told ‘used cars’ don’t come with a valet key. Planet Subaru is a horrible dealership. They are dishonest, lazy, and rude. Bottom feeders get a higher rating from me than this business.

I would put a negative if I could. They might as well take your wallet. The service department is so smug on top of ripping you off. I liked them when they did my head gasket under warranty. I asked for my car to be washed before I got there. I asked for it and the lady said (I’m paraphrasing here) «aww, too bad. Not like «I will take care of it sir». No big deal. A few months later, it cost me a hundred dollars to have them tell me I needed a $ 600.00 tune up when the engine check light came on. When I went somewhere else they told me that there was oil on my spark plugs from the previous job. When I complained I didn’t get a call back until I called them a week later telling them that I will not do business with them again. The service manager was defensive and had the air he was not interested in keeping me as a customer.
I find that the service people are not interested in cultivating the client /​business relationship; it seems they are interested in a coffee run. Almost like they are in between jobs. One day, they may regret that stance. All for a buck.

After far too long of my hesitation, procrastination, and frustration, I bought a car! Yay me!
I went to Quirk first since their website prices were way better. But, the customer service wasn’t as stellar as their prices, and apparently, there were a lot of hidden fees (nearly 5K worth). After my frustration, I hung up my hat and didn’t look for car for another 6 months when my sister told me to checkout Planet Subaru.
When I inquired about their (very fair and reasonable) prices, I appreciated their philosophy on pricing the cars at their worth already — no need to hack them down. I felt it made Planet more honest and upfront. After all, they do say they’re the undealership for a reason.
We test drove a few cars, on our own, which I thought was great — no pressure while you’re in the car, and you can truly feel it and test it out without feeling guilty going 80 on the highway. They even encouraged us to come in when the weather was crappy to get a real feel for the car.
About a week after we bought the car, I received a phone call from our sales person to see how I like the car, if I had any inquiries, and to call him anytime if I have an issue.
I’m really happy that we decided to go with a Legacy; we will be buying all of our cars from Planet from herein.

Not bought a car here yet, but way better than my experience at Quirk just north of here. Quirk refused to let us test drive any cars without a week day appointment. Planet Subaru were very apologetic for Quirk on the phone and were very easy to work with. They had no problem letting us test drive the cars. They even let us take them on our own, which no one has ever let me do in the past (Honda dealerships). Guy we worked with was very well informed and honest about the cars and interjected his personal opinions having been around the cars for a while. No pressure, just friendly advice and help. Definitely going back to buy when we work out our budget.

This place is a nightmare. They refused to negotiate, gave us a hard time for paying cash in full and then nagged us to death about getting a low jack (it’s not a Bentley!).
Then they start in about purchasing an extended warranty because of the head gasket issues that Subaru is apparently having. Also the suspension apparently goes and labor is $ 125 an hour. Seriously?! Is he trying to sell us a Subaru or send us running.
Absolute nightmare.

I purchased my 2012 Subaru Legacy from Planet Subaru in February 2014. The buying experience was great, the sales people were very knowledgeable and not pushy.
Needless to say, I was very upset when I took my car in for a routine tire balancing and found out that a tire and wheel would need to be replaced. I emailed the service manager from Planet Subaru to see if anything would be covered with my extended warranty. He went out of his way to look up my warranty, look up the parts that I needed and schedule my appointment. I was very excited to think that the repair would be that easy.
Unfortunately, it was not.
The service sheet stated that my right tire and rim were replaced but I can see that it’s the left tire and rim that we’re replaced. My car is still vibrating on the highway and I need to get it repaired AGAIN.
I’m frustrated because I took time off from work to drive to planet Subaru from Arlington and got my repairs before a weekend trip. Now I have to go back to get it fixed again and I don’t even trust them to fix it properly! My boyfriend has had similar issues with the service dept at Planet; the staff is very nice but the service is AWFUL.
If you want to buy a Subaru, go to Planet. The sales team is great.
If you need to get your car serviced, go somewhere else. You can’t trust that Planet’s service team will fix it right!

Let me be the first person to say that I SWORE I would NEVER buy a car off a dealer lot.
OK. SO I had an older VOLVO that was TERRIBLE and was draining my bank account. It would not pass inspection and due to electrical issues would not drive well It spent 5 weeks at a mechanic and he essentially refused to work on it.
So I got next to nothing for he car in trade but Planet found a buyer who gave me $ 700 for it. That was better than the $ 200-​$ 300 that other buyers were offering. So that was great. They went out of their way to make sure I got the most money for my piece of sh*t car.
I wanted an Imprezza Sport with low miles and white. They had it. It had 12,500 miles and was about 1 year old. I told them what I had in my budget. Up front, they gave me a good deal. Now, mind you, I NEEDED a car. If I had held out, I’m sure they could have done a few hundred bucks better, but I was in need of a car. So I put some money down, and hey *almost* made my monthly payments meet my needs. Ok, so it was about $ 25 more than I wanted to spend a month, but hey, thats ok its only $ 25.
Now for the cool part. Deb– the Sales Manager, (and a really nice person) allowed the car to be eligible for the «Passport» service. This service is free tires, batteries, windshield wipers, and LOANER CAR when my car is in for service — for THE LIFE OF THE CAR. What a huge savings. Thats an easy $ 600 savings on he first set of tires — pus not having to worry about transportation when my car is in for service! DONE!
Then, their Finance manager– can’t remember his name, sold me a 7 year /​100K mile extended warrantee for book value — the made $ 0 on this deal. So now, I have a practically new car, with free tires and batteries and a 100K mile, 7 year full factory warrantee — which is transferable if I ever sell the car.
Then, after driving the car for a week, there was a bad shimmy and the car pulled to the left. I called the service department and they got me in the same week. The car drove PERFECTLY when I got it back
All in all, Planet Subau is a great place to get a Subaru. They are pretty much no BS, no games. My parents have already bought 2 Outbacks from there and I wouldn’t have gone if they didn’t have a good experience.
If you are looking for a no pressure, easy going no B.S. Subaru Dealership –GO TO PLANET!

I am writing this for a friend who does not have a computer:
«They promised me a lifetime of oil & tire changes along with a loaner car for the oil changes.
They kept their word. ONCE.
The next time I went for an oil change? No more rental car.
Then when I needed new tires, they refused to do them because I didn’t get my oil changes there any longer BECAUSE they changed the rules in the middle of the game.
After all this happened, they refused to fix a warrantied head gasket and told me to go to another dealer because I completed a survey and told the truth.

Planet Subaru has been my go-​to for all of my car needs for the past six years. They have assisted me in the purchase of 1 vehicle (a Scion xA), leasing of 2 (a Subaru Impreza and a Subaru Forester), as well as all of my oil changes, inspections, and car work. I have never once been disappointed with my experience.
In addition to being knowledgeable, everyone on the staff is courteous and dedicated to helping their customers get exactly what they need. Everyone that I interact with actually listens and cares about what I am saying. They treat you with respect and are always upfront and honest about pricing, availability, and your options.
In addition to the staff being top notch, the facility itself is clean and welcoming. I was able to sit with and feed my newborn son in front of their fire place on my most recent visit and we both felt completely comfortable (and warm!). I also find it pretty refreshing that they use solar power for their showroom (

You can also look forward to (probably) seeing one of their dogs when you come in. They’re just as friendly and wonderful as the staff!
If you want to feel comfortable and good about where you go to buy your car then Planet Subaru is the dealership for you. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new or used car to purchase or lease as well as anyone in need of any type of car service. They are, quite simply, the best of the best!
