Aamco Transmissions

Initially we had some miscommunication issues but after reaching out to the owner Al, I was very pleased with how he took charge and rectified the situation. Not very common for a car mechanic unfortunately! Armando and Al were great dealing with my warranty company and my husband and I and especially had a soft spot for military families which is always nice and appreciated! Thanks again guys and I would recommend this location to anyone. If there are issues please let Al know before freaking out!

I knew it was the transmission when I took it in and the price was better than the dealer. As transmission specualists, I figured they would be faster and the repair would be better. Was told 3 – 10 days. Took over a month! Kept saying a couple more days and then blamed it on the fact that I didn’t have a ‘normal’ transmission. Armando was extremely patronizing. Would give zero stars if I could. Run the other way!

I own a 2001 Toyota Solara with transmission problems so I went to look at new cars but the prices were too high so I got that idea out of my head really quick… I researched for a good transmission shop and I found that aamco was my best option and I am thankful that I found them because my car runs like it did when I first got it. it doesn’t look new but it runs as if it were to be new… no more check in engine light and my transmission doesn’t slip nor leak anymore… I highly recommend aamco because they helped me so much and if there were more stars I would rate them over 5 stars… thank you aamco for giving me a reasonable price and thank you for letting me realize that my car can provide me many more years of service

I had a problem with my transmission on my 2012 Suburban. After taking it to the dealer and getting an outrageous quote for the repairs. I decided to have the guys at Aamco in Harbor City check it out. I had heard great things about them and figured it was worth a try.
When I arrived I noticed they were really busy. Within a couple of hours of dropping off my truck Armando called me and told me what the problem was. He quoted me a price, it was half of what the dealer had quoted me earlier. He also informed me of how many days it was going to take to get it done. I understood it was going to take a while since they were getting parts from the dealer and were really busy.
My truck was there for six days and it was a little longer than I expected but it was worth the wait my truck runs great.
I highly recommend these guys, the professionalism they’d showed was great and the customer service that I received was outstanding along with their attention to detail.

Al was recommended through mutual friends. Even though we live in OC I took a chance on this shop. My car had been making a rattling noise when I I would drive it. My husband not being a mechanic suspected that it was the flywheel. We had it towed to the shop and sure enough after he diagnosed it he called us immediately to let us know that it was a broken flywheel. He was very reasonable and professional I would highly recommend Al and his team.

Armando demonstrates the worst customer service ever. Take your business elsewhere, trust me. I would leave 0 stars if I could!

Herd there radio adds and thought I would give them a chance. I dropped my truck off because I thought the trans was slipping. They kept it all day to tell me I had to pay them $ 800 to diagnose the problem! Went to my normal shop and they fixed it for $ 500!
These guys are salesmen, not mechanics!

Had a bump with Aamco in the past, Al helped me thru it and made everything right.
Had my trans rebuilt and he did everything he said he would. Only 4 stars because of a misunderstanding earlier on but came to find out that the last people to work on my car didn’t do everything they should have.

Had an appt because my oil light keeps coming on when I start the car. Before I could park my car, some big guy came out to try and help me. He diagnosed my car without me getting out of the car. Seemed to me as though they weren’t interested in my business.

I searched on my phone today for a place to have my transmission serviced which they did a good job. My gripe is when I looked at their website they had a 10% off for any job over 50 $ they refused to honor the coupon. They did a great job on my truck but was disappointed about about the discount. I received a call from aamco today. They offered to give me my discount. They were very polite about the mixup. I would recommend them to friends

We have used AAmco for several years and have always been treated with professionalism, courtesy and respect… We have always dealt with Al who is GREAT but he was unavailable this time and dealt with Armando… What a great guy… Had to have new rear brake drums, new rear brake cylinders and new rear brake struts… Got a very reasonable price and great service… Had the car back the next day… I have a 2013 Chevy Cruze and when the warranty is over I will continue to use Al and his team at AAmco… Thank you Armando

Went to just have my audi checked because the check engine light came on and they said they could do that for free.
Called me three hours later to say it was the transmission. They would have to remove the transmission, do more tests, it would take nine hours, cost me $ 895 and then he asked me for a credit card. Also said there would be additional costs for whatever it was they found wrong with the transmission and parts.
I told them to hold off because I wanted to make some calls and maybe take it to the dealer.
He insisted I let him do the work or that I leave my car there while I figure things out.
No, I would like my car!
Took my car to the dealer and they said it was a leak in the gas cap. If closing it tighter doesn’t help, a new cap might be necessary. Those are under $ 50

I recently took my 2000 Ford Explorer XLT to this shop and they were able to answer the question that two other shops couldn’t answer. I began having trouble with my car not being able to start at random times. I initially thought that it was just beginning to die on me because of the high mileage (192,000 miles) and wear and tear. But a friend recommended me to take it to AAMCO because he previously had a good experience there. Since the other mechanics weren’t able to find the problem, I thought I’d give it a shot and decided to take it there. I spoke to Al over the phone and he was very helpful and polite. He asked me to take in the next morning which was a Saturday. Upon arriving they almost immediately identified the problem. I had a fuel pump that was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. That explained why the car would start and not start at random times. I should have taken it sooner because I spent money buying relay switches and trying other random things to see if it would fix the problem. They were able to fix it, guarantee their work, and had it ready for me the following Monday. I was also pleased with the price for the repair. It was a fair price! I was very happy with the end result and immediately gained trust in their mechanics. It’s difficult finding reliable mechanics now a days. I now take my car for regular service and maintenance, as well as my fathers car. It’s truly a good feeling when you find a shop whose mechanics you can trust. It may be a little out of my way, but the end results are well worth it. I highly recommend this shop and will continue going there for my car needs.

I had my baby services at AAMCO last week and she runs great. A complete brake job at a fair price and awesome customer service. Al was to the point and on target even with the holidays I’m back on the road asap.
I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve always received great service, I highly recommend this place.
It’s sad that I’ve posted two good reviews for this business and both have been deemed «not recommended «by Unilocal … Very very sad, maybe if I post a real bad one it’ll show up.

Had to take my truck in for some issues and took a recommendation to try this place out. I was not disappointed at all! They were very nice and explained exactly what I needed and didn’t try to con me into anything else. I really appreciated Daniel and Al who helped me out who were both very professional and worked very efficiently. They got right to work and had me out of there in a surprisingly quick time. I will go back again when I need my cars fixed. Great place, reasonable prices and quick service, what else can you ask for?

Set up appointment. Next day I arrived and Al greeted me, reconfirmed the price I was going to pay. Didn’t take much time to do a transmission fluid flush service.
Al is a top notch businessman. I would recommend coming here for the customer service, price, and quick turnaround on wait time.

Got the lifetime warranty on my honda prelude, after fixing it the first time it still kind of felt funky, the gears would shift hard and sometimes would make a clunk into reverse. The guy who worked there Ted told me that it was normal and to not worry.
Then the trans spewed trans fluid all over the place and popped some codes. (Just after 4 months of fixing the trans). I took it back in…
This time Al helped me out, this guy is great, he’s intelligent and will explain every detail to you about the diagnosis and what he thinks the problem is. He was very helpful and began the diagnosis on why the trans blew fluid and popped some codes.
Replaced the torque converter, shift solenoid, linear solenoid, new fluid and 2^nd gear switch…
WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Car runs as if it were brand new off the lot. Turns out the 2^nd gear switch was the culprit but its working great now.
and for those of you who say, «well it should have been fixed right the first time…» these are very expensive mechanical components that you don’t want to replace unless necessary and sometimes those codes are very ambiguous and don’t tell you too much on what is exactly wrong with the car. So sometimes troubleshooting and hypothesizing what the issue is just the process that it takes!
I am happy with the service and quality offered by the Aamco here!

Double A honk-​honk MCO
So my check engine light has been on and off for a few weeks now. Got an oil change, replaced some parts and still on. So I was browsing online and saw that there was an AAMCO location near me and they had a coupon for a FREE inspection if your check engine light is on.
I fell in this category and took advantage of it today as when I turned my car on to drive to work there was a quick hard jerk and I was like that’s not good. Pulled into AAMCO, gave them my coupon, signed my zero dollar inspection sheet and left my car behind.
The verdict is I do need some work on my transmission and Ted (store manager) gave me a pretty good deal on the work. Wasn’t able to leave my car behind just yet but felt great that if I do choose to get the work done at AAMCO that they will take care of it. Didn’t get any pressure either to make a decision right then and there and didn’t feel any slack as they spent quite a few hours on my car and I didn’t even pay them a penny. If they wouldn’t have had my car all stinkin day they would have received honk-​honk 5 stars.
