No other auto shop compares to the excellent customer service I received here. Tom was very helpful when I had questions about pricing after a mix up. I plan on telling everyone that this is the place to go.

Oil change service was decent. I’m not a fan of all of the staff members there, but based on the feedback the owner provides back to every person who writes a review on Unilocal & other sites, I am declining to go into detail any further, as I do not wish to get into a tit-​for-​tat game on it. Personally, I won’t go back again, but it was a decent deal on an oil change (and they did a good job — timely, no grease spots on your seat, etc.) for somewhere other than Midas.

Tom, AKA the front desk guy with the beard from other reviews is very helpful and knowledgeable about transmissions and other auto repairs and has been very helpful over the years to service our work van and to suggest services when it could help save money in the long run. I haven’t had any bad experiences with AAMCO and will continue to do business with him in the future. I believe they do a great job and stand by their work, if something is wrong, let them have a chance to make it right. Please take all of these other reviews with a grain of salt, most people get on Unilocal to give a poor review, not to share that someone had exemplary service.

Left my car on around Thursday and it was there until around Wednesday the next week all to replace some fog lights that cost a lot more than it should have. Fog lights for my car were around $ 50 and they charged me around $ 250 for them, and I believe that labor was not included in that portion. I am in college and AAMCO in harrisonburg really knows how to capitalize on us college kids. Definitely do not recommend this place. My friend also took his car to get his axle fixed, they messed it up even more and charged around $ 700. This place is a nightmare, please never come here if you do not want to throw money down the drain.

The story –
Dropped off my car Thursday after hours.
Friday rolls around, did not get a call until 4:57; that’s three minutes before they close. The owner, Tom, was pressuring me to accept his $ 1100+ fix for my car and wanted to order the parts then.
I said I would need more than three minutes to weigh my options on my older vehicle. So I told him I would let him know Monday morning. I went in Monday morning, like I said I would, and paid the diagnostic fee of $ 60. I informed him that I was going to take my car to my normal mechanic later that day, after hours.
Tom did not like what I said and threatened me, in front of four other customers, saying that if I did not remove my vehicle now, he would have it impounded.
So much for respect, service and proper treatment of your customers.
I’ll never go there again and will tell others not to as well.

Everyone in this store is great! Tom and Donny are very helpful and reasonable and they love helping JMU students. I definitely recommend this place to anyone at JMU or in Harrisonburg in general. I have gone here since I was a Freshman in 2010 and these guys really treat their customers well.

Do not ever go here if you need real help. They will perform work you did not request then expect you to pay. When you try to settle with decency you will be threatened with «possession is 9/​10ths of the law» by Tom the manager the guy in the middle of the picture above with the smirk of self satisfaction on his face.

My daughter brought her car in for annual safety inspection. As s student away from home, she had some reservations about what to expect, and had heard mixed reviews from students about AAMCO. The inspection was done without a hitch.
Tom, the owner, put her very much at ease, Given her mileage, he recommended, appropriately, that she consider fluid changes, but put no pressure on her to do it today, or do it there.
I would encourage her to return to AAMCO for future service needs, and she would be very comfortable doing so.

I had a good experience at AAMCO Hburg. I went to AAMCO to get 70K mile maintenance done on my Honda Accord, which included brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid changes. The people there were courteous and clear, explaining what was to be done on the car and what to expect, and reminded me of the current 2-​for-​the-​price-​of-​1 fluid change discount they were running. The work was done quickly and at a fair price. Overall, a positive experience.
