We specialize in educating the public on local beer and do it in a fun and relaxing way. We offer single tickets every weekend, run private tours, and also run special events. History

Established in 2014.

The Rhode Island Brew Bus was Established in 2014 by Bill Nangle. Nangle was studying Entrepreneurial Management at The University of Rhode Island when the idea of starting his own business came a reality. After months of planning, designing, and creating his vision the bus ran its first tour in July of 2014. The goal of the company is to expose customers to the RI beer community and see just how much RI has to offer in great beer, wine, and spirits.

At age 22 Bill was finishing up his last semester at the University of Rhode Island and decided he wanted to start his own business. As a home brewer and a craft beer enthusiast he decided what better way to share his love for craft beer than to start a brewery tour company right here in Rhode Island. With an idea and a great support system he took a leap of faith and bought a bus. His hope is to grow the craft beer scene in Rhode Island and help all the local breweries thrive! «The Rhode Island Brew Bus is a way to share my love for beer with everyone around me. I loved my experience with the RI Brew Bus! A couple of friends and I went on «Get the Pell Over Here» tour, and it was one of the best activities I’ve done in Rhode Island. The things that made it great: people who love what they do, great beer (and wine and rum), a sense of adventure, and a byproduct of learning.
The guides were genuine, kind, and knowledgable. They really wanted to get everyone on the bus to have a sense of camaraderie, and I appreciate that because I like to befriend strangers. There were trivia questions between stops, souvenir glasses that we got to keep along the way, and alcohol that flowed like… wine? (For the record, I loved the variety of alcohol on the Pell tour because it included beer, wine, and rum. A great combination!) I was impressed by the amount of tastings we did. And while the bus didn’t include, say, a hamburger, they did have brownies (YUM) and single serving bags of popcorn; but if you’re the kind of person who gets hungry at every hour (*raises hand*), you can bring snacks on board.
At the end of the day, I felt like I’d had a full adventure, and it was reminiscent of the pub crawls and walking tours I’ve done overseas – just that sense of: «Wow, today was really fun.» As mentioned, it’s clear that the RI Brew Bus guys love what they do, and in turn, you’ll love it, too.

We had a great experience with the guys, the bus was comfortable, our guides (Josh and Jon) were entertaining, and the breweries accommodating and friendly (thanks for the recipe Nate). We even had the addition of Archie for comic relief, and the chance to meet Bill, the Brew Bus founder. We went to Bucket, Foolproof, and Ravenous, and each stop was fantastic. Thanks guys, and we’re already planning our next adventure. See you soon!

My boyfriend and I went on the «afternoon delight» brew bus tour and it was awesome! Jon and Josh were our driver and tour guide. They provided us with games, snacks and fun trivia. If you haven’t gone on a tour from the RI brew bus, I strongly suggest you do. There really is nothing better than getting driven around on bus that stops at local brewery’s. It’s a school bus for adults and worth every penny!

We did the Friday night border-​hopper for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a great time! Grey Sail was probably our favorite because we got a full tour of their brewing facility and they were extremely generous with their samples… but the other breweries were great as well. The pretzels at Malted Barley were yummy, and we actually returned there after the tour for some more food! Everything ran punctually and the tour guides were great.
We landed in a full tour with a group of 6 guys from Canada doing their annual buddy trip to the USA, and they were a lot of fun. We played beer trivia on the bus (and WON, not that I’m competitive or anything!) and things got rowdier as the night went along. Really great time. I don’t usually like «group party» activities but this was excellent!
The one note that I would make (and this is not necessarily a plus or a minus) is that the vibe of the tour will DEFINITELY depend on the other people on the bus. For us, the Canadians made the tour complete! Without them, our bus would have been super quiet. So if you go in a small group, there’s definitely a «luck of the draw» element — you have to hope the other people on the tour are fun, and not douchebags! If you have your own large fun group, then you do not have to worry about this, you will have a blast.
Considering all the beer we drank, the food we ate, AND all the beer glasses we got, we definitely got our money’s worth. Great value. Would definitely recommend as an activity to do with out-​of-​towners or for a special occasion.

Do you enjoy craft beer? Do enjoy having someone cater you around so you can sample multiple craft beers? If you answered yes, then you need to book one of the tours with the fine folks running the Brew Bus. First, the two guys running the tour, Billy and Jon, were top notch and gave great info about how various beers are brewed (you too can learn the magic of various yeast strains!). I participated in the Afternoon Delight tour, and the establishments we visited (Sons of Liberty Distillery, Proclamation Ale Co., and Whaler’s Brewing Co.) were all top notch. As an added bonus, using the website to order tickets is very easy and convenient.

I’ve lived in the small state of Rhode Island for my whole life and never realized how many cool things there are to do that I’ve never heard of! The Rhode Island Brew Bus was one of those pleasant surprises. Took my boyfriend on the Sunday tour for his birthday. It was something new and different for us to do and I would definitely do it again. The beer, rum, and wine were great and the staff is super friendly. I would recommend getting a decent size group of friends together and booking a tour. It was a blast! Booking on the website is super easy too!

HIGHLY recommended. We did a Friday afternoon tour — one brewery and one pub in RI, two breweries in Connecticut. Beer trivia game on the bus between stops was a riot. The driver, tour guide and all staff at each stop was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of samples at each stop (they were very generous!). Definitely recommend to all and we’ll go again!
