I bought a pair as I was about to move out of CT in 2013 and wanted to represent my home state. What I did not know was that I’d be wearing these jeans at least 5 days a week for the next two years. Two states, and 3 sets of repairs later(I bike a lot so have worn through some of the undercarriage) and these things are better than ever. So yes, the price is higher than some jeans, but if you consider that I have not bought another pair of pants over the last two years I’m guessing that I’ve come out ahead of the game.

I finally went to one of Hartford Denim’s pop up markets featuring a ton of local artists and vendors from the Hartford area. I picked up a funky animal print(work friendly) dress from consignment and a bunch of prints and cards from Hartford Prints. The mix of vendors was perfect — used/vintage clothing, vintage goods and housewares, blown glass treasures, plants, artwork, rust and indigo dyed shirts courtesy of Hartford Denim, etc, etc. etc. The expansive, bright and industrial space of the Hartford Denim Factory building on Arbor Street is outrageously beautiful in every way possible. I had seen it before in photos, but it really is something else to see it in person. It’s one long, white hallway with gigantic windows overlooking our capitol city. For someone who loves furniture and appreciates architecture, this is a building and room to be seen. Hartford Denim is helping to create an inviting and welcoming place for those who love the arts, music and supporting local. I want to support these guys and everything that they do, because they are building community with every party and gathering that they throw. Cocktails were made, music was played, dancing was had, and food was devoured(Hartford Baking was present along with another food vendor that I cannot remember, but the bratwrust with pickled radishes from HBC was to-die-for and I wish they would put it on their regular menu!). I will be back for their future parties and pop up markets! Cheers to community building and supporting local!
