Beware of buying a horse from Carey Hughes(owner) All Lit Up Farm! The horse I purchased came emaciated! I could not have declined the horse off the trailer it arrived on, for it would have never made the trip back alive! I loaded up on supplements for the skinny gelding per Dr.‘s orders. Then, the 5 yr old gelding started displaying dangerous stallion behaviors which required a surgery. When Carey was contacted about this issue, he agreed I should have the surgery perfomed, and would pay me $ 500 towards the bill. I have since bought another horse from Carey in good faith he would still pay me the $ 500, or I could put it toward the purchase price of the new horse. I paid the difference in cash, and drove back 1000 miles from TN to MN. Upon my return home with my new horse, I contacted Carey Hughes to inquire about the date I would receive the $ 500 as promised. Carey Hughes now refuses to pay me the $ 500. Carey is the middleman for people selling horses is AL and TN so he can get a finders fee. Do not bother with his references, because I checked with about 25 of them. If he has been doing this for as long as he claims, he would have thousands of references.(not just the 50 good ones that got lucky with the horse they got) He claims he sells about 100 horses a year. The horses on the sight are mostly being ridden in a straight line or circle, but you won’t see anything about catching, saddling, etc. etc. The horses are very pretty on the video, but not necessarily recent. His prices are fair due to the state of the horses training/health.
