Went here for the first time tonight and will definitely be back again! Everything on the menu looked so good it took our party a few minutes to decide. My friend and I both ordered mini sangrias while we were still looking over the menu, they were delicious! We were shocked that almost every burger/sandwich/entrée came with soup because it was such a good deal. We all figured it’d be a tiny little cup of soup, nope! A big bowl of soup to start off the meal. The baked potato soup was awesome and my fiancé said the cream of broccoli was great as well. I ordered the meatloaf with broccoli, the meatloaf was very good and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals as well. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding(so insanely good), crème brûlée and a cheesecake slice to go. Our waitress Donna was the absolute best, she was so friendly, kind and attentive. I hope the next time we go back we get her again. The rest of the staff was also great! The man working the register was so kind to us as well. Also during dinner an older gentleman was singing old love songs as the restaurant background music, it was so adorable and made our night even better! Though I never saw the old place the remodel job that they did looked great. We sat in a booth which was very comfy. The bar looked nice and we even contemplated hanging out at the bar after our meal, but we were so full we couldn’t do it. Next time! Can’t wait to go back for brunch at the other side of the building and to go back for another awesome Friday night for dinner! It was an excellent way to start the weekend.

Sorry they changed the menu from the opening one. Was glad to see a little classier place. Food still good better variety now I guess people wanted, reasonable drinks. Nice atmosphere. Can’t please everybody. Keep up the good work and don’t back down from the food you want to serve if it’s good people will pay, it was not out of line. Very comparable to Vince’s(Rocco Vinos) next door. Good luck. .

First time here for dinner… salad was cole & crisp… oysters were big & fresh. I had the filet & grilled shrimp with asparagus… delicious. But the best was desert… crème brûlée was as good as any reataurant downtown. Will definitely be back. Also, our server was attentive & friendly

The restaurant was small and they had entertainment that night so it was kind of loud. The server checked on us once, she was not very attentive. We got our food 45 minutes later which was very odd because there were only two other tables who were finished with their meals. Our food was cold, like it was sitting in the kitchen for a long time. The mashed potatoes looked like the ones you buy out of the box. They looked similar to rice pudding. Very unappealing. I asked to have my food reheated only to have it microwaved for a few seconds. It was disgusting. The waitress did not come back to ask how my food was. The food my party ordered was undercooked. We ended up not eating our food and wasted an hour and a half sitting at the loud restaurant. We never received our check so we got up to pay, I wonder how much longer we would have waited for the check. The waitress only took off two of our items from the check and we were given a soft and miserable sorry. When we were leaving, we noticed that the staff was sitting on the other side of the restaurant watching television. I am guessing that is what took so long for us to get served. Will not be coming back.

Came here tonight for the first time. We spoke with the waitress and she said when Hardwood first opened it was an upscale steakhouse. It didn’t fit well in the neighborhood so they’ve lowered their prices and are still adjusting their menu. That said. Décor is nice. Service is attentive and friendly. Food is prepared in a timely matter. I had the salmon and asparagus with a bowl of chicken and rice soup. Salmon was fresh and cooked very well; not at all dry or overcooked. The asparagus was nice and crunchy. My only complaints are that there’s little flavor and the portions are small. I squeezed the provided lemon slice on the whole plate and added a little salt to the asparagus. Chicken and rice soup was great. For the dinner plates you are offered a soup or salad, and one side with your entrée. I feel either two sides or even rice added on would have been more suitable for the price. Overall Hardwood is alright. Not bad but could use some slight improvements. They are still reworking their menu so I may try them again after they sort things out. I hope they do well.

what a waste of money. not only my money but the invested money into this place that lacks the meaning of a dine-in restaurant! Very poor service. waiter had no idea what he was selling us. the cups are dirty. our soup came with our food. Calamari way over fried. their breakfast place(family palace) is the original and they shouldve stuck with that. Three tables and 5 servers and our food still comes out after 45 minutes. their alfredo i guarantee it is frozen and heated. Overall…Nasty! Tip to the owner, Life music is a major no no. everyone was distracted from their work by playing around in that area and is a bit annoying.

What a disappointment! I ordered the steak salad. The steak was nothing but grissle, I could not eat it. I called the waiter who brought the manager over who asked if I wanted chicken. I said NO I ORDEREDSTEAK! He didn’t care that it was not edible, i got a lame sorry about that. No offer to make another steak, he knew it would be the same poor quality. I will NEVER go back, the steak was just awful. There was a dusting of blue cheese and an overkill of a whole apple cut up on it. I will say that the soup was good but downhill after that. Beautiful rennovation but a total waste. Prices are very high, it’s a far reach for«fine dining». Would have much preferred a regular diner. Don’t waste your money!

The renovations very nice… very clean… service is friendly. Place was empty on a Sunday evening at dinnertime. Food is just mediocre. We ordered the 8oz sirlon with garlic mashed and broccoli… and bbq ribs with butterfly shrimp. The ribs fell off the bone but definatly not very flavorful. Mashed potatoes too salty… broccoli cooked perectly… not mushy. The steak cooked correctly but again no flavor… the sangria I ordered was delicious. Wonder if the Family Palace side of this place is better for breakast items?

Over priced for the location /service. Food was ok. Owners should have kept the whole establishment a diner.(Family Palace)

Harwood Restaurant is the Family Palace. They have now split the restaurant into two sections. Family Palace is the breakfast/lunch side open from 6am-3pm. Harwood Restaurant is the dinner side open from 4pm-10pm. Harwood is a completely new place. It’s much more upscale offering steaks, seafood and pasta. Most of the traditional Family Palace items remain on the Family Palace side of the operation. My guess is that they weren’t doing the best for dinner so decided to try something entirely new on the dinner side. If you want the old Family Palace(with an updated look/décor, then go during the hours of 6am-3pm) After talking to the owner and our waiter, they said that is was experimental(in the sense of trying something new. They spent a lot of money to gut the whole building. Doubt they are changing concepts anytime soon) Expect some menu changes and other stuff over time, but I think it can definitely work if your looking for something slightly more upscale but not overly pricey. Other than that, food was delicious. Service was great and the new look/décor was fantastic. The place now has an actual bar as well. I can’t wait to try out the original family palace side of things. I will definitely be back to the Harwood side though as well.

Very limited menu just burgers and 2 chicken sandwichs. all the other stuff was very high priced. they split the restaurant in half and this is the expensive side. the other side is only open from 6 am to 3 pm. which use to be open till 10 pm so i can’t comment on that side. But i don’t think i will be returning when i had 2 drinks 1 pop n 1 coffee. and 2 chicken sandwichs with frys all for 30 bucks. i wooda be better off going to dennys down the block. good luck harwood hope you last awhile but unfortunatly i won’t be returning.

We came here last Tuesday night. Our food was great the service attentive but not overbearing. It’s a very nice restaurant in an area that has lots of family places but few places for a nice date night. This is a great date night restaurant. I think it’s a great addition to the neighborhood. We will return soon!

The owners are very friendly! The food is delicious, I had the filet and lobster which was 36.95 I believe, a very good deal. We had Carlos as our waiter and he was awesome, very attentive. A great time was had by all! Highly recommendable! Chef Tino is amazing with food!
