Marlins Bar & Grill

The Staff were friendly. The atmosphere was nice and they have pool tables and lots of seating but the main thing I have to say is… Overpriced. Yes it is seafood but still over priced especially considering the small portions. 14 dollars for a meal (oyster basket) and I’m still hungry is a definite no to me .
I was disappointed and will not return.

I enjoyed everything about it. There wasn’t many people when we went and I couldn’t understand why because the food was excellent. I had the Bourbon Burger with sweet potato fries and it was really good!!! It’s a stuffed burger with mushrooms, onions, and bleu cheese on the inside topped with fried onion rings and a bourbon demi glaze… DELICIOUS!!!

Gritty «royal reds». Bottom line, they’re bad. Don’t bother with this place. It’s just a bar and not a restaurant. Caters to young kids at night. Don’t even think about trying to make this family dinner or date night.

May be working out growing pains, but some of the food was good and some not. Marlin was good, but the tuna was served cold. Calimari was a very small portion for the price. Waiter was nice but not very attentive. Had to wait longer than expected for drinks and had to call him several times to take addt. orders. It is a little over priced for what we received.

My wife and I decided on a final night out for 2013. We arrived to a halfway filled restaurant and unorganized staff. Our waitress Sam was excellent. However… our food wasn’t. We ordered the Shark bites which were good for an appetizer but small portion. For dinner my wife had the Swordfish lollipops which is a signature dish. Signature it was not. Small portion for the price and food was cold. Oh, we waited over an hour for our food. My meal was a disaster. I had the most expensive menu item. Their signature rosemary marlin dish. The food was way over cooked and cold. The marlin was so overcooked that it was hard as a rock and extremely dry. Our waitress Sam was very understanding and took action. The meal was removed from our ticket by a manager. Needless to say, we will not return. Had high hopes for a new joint in Hattiesburg that wasn’t a chain. Sad to say, this rates as poorly as the chain restaurants. I’m only giving it 2 stars because our waitress was great. It’s a shame the food brought the rating down.
Well I gave them 2 stars while waiting on our check. What was presented to is vs what we paid for were two different things. Manager said we must have been their experiment for the night. Sadly, we paid $ 50 for subpar meal that wasn’t worth $ 20.00. I did receive a meal comp for our next visit. More than likely we won’t be back.

Great service. Friendly, helpful staff. You can definitely tell this place is still new, but it is a step up than the last restaurant at this venue. It is on the more expensive side; especially compared to the other restaurants across from campus. Totally worth the price and will go again.
