Long Island Moving & Storage

Terrible company. Broke things in our apartment they were told not to touch and that we would be moving on our own. Broke things on the truck they were moving. Broke things in the new house. Scratched the floors. Dented the walls. Following all of this we have been outright ignored by their customer service, with almost no replies to the reported incidents. They «lost» the original report and needed us to refile. Will be reporting to BBB. Do not use this company.

stay away from this company. we moved over a year ago and I still get aggravated when i think about our experience with these people. they only added to the stress of moving. they were late in starting which caused us to be late arriving at our destination. the truck needed to turn around due to the lateness and then they charged us $ 1000 for storing our belongings in their truck at their facility over the weekend. we had no choice because our entire lives were in that truck. we had to stay in a hotel and buy the necessities until monday when they sent the truck back out. STAY AWAY!!!

After a move last Wednesday, I am still waiting to hear from the owner. He has ignored my calls and emails.
Our move began with the movers arriving 2 ½ hours late. Then we get to the damage… There is so much damage that I don’t even know where to start. The entire crew should be fired. There is thousands and thousands of dollars’ worth of repairs and replacements needed. Pieces are also missing and I just hope they are on his truck still. My TV arrived at my new house (which was only 30 miles away) completely destroyed. The crew actually laid my TV down with the stand still attached. The stand is oval so the TV sat a 30 degree angle. It would have taken them 20 seconds to remove that stand so it could lay flat. The TV never had a chance. My wife even questioned them about it and they ignored her. They gashed brand new furniture that was delivered the day before by someone else. They weren’t even moving any furniture into that room. Only a soft mattress. They also gashed solid doors that will need to be replaced, and molding throughout the house. They showed complete disregard for everything they touched. My living room setup consisted of the TV, end table, coffee table and TV stand. ALL 4 of those pieces were damaged, broken and we are actually missing part of the TV stand shelving. As time goes on we find more items damaged and the owner doesn’t return your calls or emails. The rude receptionist directed me toward a claim sheet online. It will take me 4 days to fill it out. I have also invited the owner over to view the damage first hand and he is nowhere to be found.
This is complete negligence. They were the highest estimate we got but we went for what we thought was quality when we made our decision. The owner and other employees were always available and your best friend prior to the move… We made a huge mistake… Don’t do the same

I couldn’t even book the move because of how rude these women were on the phone. I was simply asking for information about moving and they were extremely annoyed with that right away. It doesn’t seem they know how to run a business AT ALL.

Given that this company prides itself on being a family-​operated business, they are extremely inflexible. I was inquiring about a long distance move which includes many variables, and simply wanted two estimates from them; I had two lists which listed everything I wanted to move, incl. the sizes, and was hoping I could simply email them those two lists and get two estimates back. Got an email and a voicemail back: No. Not possible. I would have to go thru their website and input everything again. Twice, one for each list. I called and spoke to Adelaine, who mostly didn’t really listen and instead talked over me and lectured me on how their business operates. She also informed me that it’s impossible for them to move me out of my apartment on a particular day, they’d need a 5 day window for PICKUP (which is really unheard of). I understand that for a long distance move there’s a delivery window of up to 14 days or so… but a 5 day window for PICKUP/​MOVE-​OUT??? No way. They should know that move-​in elevators need to be scheduled, etc… so that was a completely NO-​GO.
Meanwhile, every other moving company I also considered happily provided me an email address to send my two furniture lists to and promptly replied with estimates for each!
In summary: Stay away.

On the phone sold us this company –assuming us that they are family owned and operated.
The movers arrived late. Took their time to wrap and pack the furniture. Once they arrived in the new house they scratched my daughters dresser and broke the leg of her armoire. Movers told us to call office on the next working day which we were not happy with. It took hours and police to show up until we finally got the «owners» on the phone.
To say the least, we put in a claim and 2 weeks later we are still waiting to hear back from «Diane» the claims rep.
If only we can give negative stars!

I Would of gave them negative stars if I could. This company is run by someone who is not trustworthy has an attitude problem and is just a fake person. You get a qoute and then the manager BOBBY calls makes you feel like you are in good hands. I was told the movers would be to my house from 8am-​9am on the dot they got to me at 930. I will say that MATT and Artie the 2 movers did an excellent job very nice and professional. But the scum bobby was a RUDE IGNORANT PIECE OF SCUM. Stuff did not go as planned and he flipped his lid. We were moving from shirley to boson and the complex we were going to had a time restricition on move. So since they only sent 2 people to move all of our furniture and they were late we were unable to move. So I called bobby to tell him and this guy was yelling telling me all this stuff he was a complete piece of crap. Charged me 500 a day for 2 days of storage. Then Charged my credit card for the full amount when I told him I had a cashiers check and was just paying for the extra charge he was raping me for. Please people take my warning that these people are crooks and if you need to move, even though the movers themselves did a good job This company does not deserve your money.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Where to begin? Slow, incompetent workers. Show up with «an extra guy», as though they were doing me a favor, and STILL went an hour over the allotted time (plus $ 109). I was quoted $ 550, but on the day of the move there was a $ 40 «fuel charge» added. Really? I have to pay for the gas in the truck!!! I was moving a 3 room apartment, NOT A HOUSE, and they STILL couldn’t do it in five hours. They told me the «suggested tip» was $ 50 a man (so, add $ 150 to the total). Leather couched: ripped. Computer table: must have been pushed on concrete, table side up, because the entire top is scratched. Bed: assembled incorrectly. Workers were in truck «singing» (I mean literally singing) for ten minutes, until I caught them. Workers were «thuggish». My 70 inch LCD television would not be unloaded UNTIL I PAID THEM. I couldn’t believe it when the guy in charge said this. Once I paid, he turned to the other two thugs, and said, «Ok, you can unload it now». I WOULD NEVER HIRE THEM AGAIN! EVER!

Very shady, over an hour late with no phone call and they purposefully took the longest route to my new place in an attempt to charge me more.
$ 100 more than the quote but I was well within the time limit.
Definitely not family men, as advertised over the phone. One guy was even complaining about his ex wife and his time in jail!
They brought an extra guy along, clearly an under the table deal, and only asked that I «take care of them» at the end, but they were all such slow workers that even with my help it took forever to get everything loaded and unloaded. Thankfully I don’t have any fragile stuff!
They kept my LCD TV on their truck until I paid their tips (they asked for $ 50-​$ 75 per person!) I told them they weren’t getting anything until they finished the job.
I’m moving again next year and definitely will be doing it myself. My first experience using movers and also my last.

My family and I have moved around NY city about every 2 years for a decade, as our family has expanded from 1 – 4 children. Never have we experienced such horrendous service. LI Moving & Storage is an unethical, awful service. The quote for the move was $ 1800 and the final bill was actually almost $ 5000! I was a pregnant at the time, and couldn’t help the men move, but stayed all day to watch as they chatted and wasted time moving slowly. If took them 15 hours to move us out of a 2 bedroom apartment in an elevator building! At one point I bought the staff lunch sandwiches and drinks to be nice. They sat for a full hour eating a sandwich and talking (vulgar talk) and then at the end of the job, had the nerve to charge $ 200 overtime for the job!
Then, because the job was so much more than planned, we couldn’t afford to pay the whole amount right away. The owner Bobby threatened to keep all of our stuff that he now had in possession including our wedding gifts, upright piano and furniture. They then charged 3 times more than they originally told us per month as well. It was horrific. Each month they withdrew different amounts of almost 1000 out of our checking until we finally recovered financially and afforded a new firm, Dumbo Moving, to move our stuff and store with them. All in all, we spent almost $ 18 000 in one year moving a two bedroom to storage and storing for one year with Long Island Moving and Storage. The Dumbo company charged $ 475 flat fee to move our stuff from them and we have paid $ 128/​mo in storage, which will amount to only $ 2281 with tax for a year, vs over $ 18 000 at Long Island Moving and Storage. These guys are unprofessional thefts!!! They threatened a pregnant woman that they would keep my belongings when I didn’t pick up the phone ONCE. Do NOT hire them!!!

ghetto. extremely shady, but went with them anyway because of price. i am dumb. not only were they tossing my things around and damaging a majority of my personal items, when they got to my new place i was moving into they were so loud with slamming things down that my downstairs neighbor had contacted my landlord who had then contacted me. so much for first impressions. these guys (convicts) are the worst and just dont want to work. i wouldnt recommend them to people i hate.

NEVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE. They were supposed to move me out of my apartment at 8am on Saturday. They confirmed prior to the move that they would be there, 8am and that everything was still on. They cancelled at 8:15am on Saturday. By TEXT. Leaving me completely screwed, with no movers, 15 minutes after I was supposed to be moving. I hate these people so much. They wouldn’t even pick up the phone to talk to me despite repeated calls. Only one, cowerdly text. I booked LI Movers through UHaul’s moving website, Moving Helpers, so I would also advise against ever booking through them, as they clearly do not screen their movers.

Do not use this service if you are a woman. Dominick is the rudest foul mouthed individual I have ever had the misfortune to deal with… Scott, Stewart and all other movers are lovely. Dominick, threw furniture off the truck and broke a love seat and chair that I was giving away. I was moving from a house to an apartment big move, no excuse for bad manners. They charge by the pound not by the size of the storage needed.
