I first went to Stahl Eye Care in Hauppauge in January 2014 for a LASIK consultation. The consultation process was all very professional and went smoothly. Dr. Werner met with me and explained the entire process and answered all of my questions. The only negative thing I would have to say about the consultation is that they do charge a $ 100 fee for eye measurements, which I was unaware of until they requested payment; however it did end up going towards the cost of my surgery in the end.
I had the actual surgery at the Garden city location but have had all of my follow up appointments at the Hauppauge location. The entire staff has been extremely helpful and kind. My follow up appointments are a breeze and I am in and out of the office within a half hour at the most. Dr. Werner is always friendly and takes the time to chat with me about how things have been since the surgery — I truly feel like a person and not just a number when I am there. I am now seeing better than ²⁰⁄₂₀ and could not be happier with my decision to go to Stahl in Hauppauge for my eye care.

I picked up my new eyeglasses from Stahl and as soon as I drove away in my car I was scared because I could not read the road signs. I wore the new glasses for a few more days and everything was still blurry. I bought a high end progressive lens with wider viewing range. So I paid a lot of money.
During the eye exam I had felt rushed. The doctor had become increasingly impatient because I could not seem to respond fast enough for him as to which lens in the view finder I could see better with. Werner. He abruptly scribbled a prescription and I ended up with a huge expense and could not see properly.
I returned to Stahl after another week and they said my eyes needed to adapt to the new prescription. 10 more days passed and I still could not see and I had eye strain. I insisted that they give me another eye exam. A different doctor was less frantic and wrote a new prescription. He confirmed an error was made in the first prescription.
After another week passed, I got my 2^nd set of lenses. I could see better but still was not 100% happy. I have worn progressive lenses in the past and know what to expect. I gave it almost a year of suffering with this garbage. I needed to always tilt my head to focus and most times I could not focus, especially trying to read my computer. All this time I often felt eye strain.
I was afraid to go back to Stahl because they made it so frustrating for me. I finally went to Lenscrafters where I fortunately had a normal, pleasant experience and after one exam I can now see again.
The only reason I went to Stahl originally was because they had a frame I liked and the girl who helped me was terrific. A different girl at the front desk, however, was rude and unfriendly every time I showed up to this office.
I have worn glasses for 40+ years and never had to deal with anything like this. Anyone should expect to purchase eyeglasses from a reputable business where they can ultimately see correctly. There is no room for excuses if you are paying for proper care. You think you should trust these people to do laser surgery? Good luck.

Dr. Werner was excellent– I know multiple people that have had Lasik performed by him and everything went great. Limited wait time in office, good bedside manner, and great follow up care. I highly recommend them to all my friends.

I had the Intralase surgery a week ago and found the whole experience amazing. The staff is so caring and knowledgeable. Dr Hufnagel is the best! He makes you feel so relaxed during the procedure. After wearing contacts and glasses for over 30yrs I am still amazed that I have perfect vision without them. I would highly recommend Stahl to anyone that is considering vision correction surgery.

Dr. Benjamin Chang performed my Lasic eye surgery in 2004 and I have enjoyed having excellent vision since. I used to have ²⁰⁄₄₀₀!

This particular branch (Stahl seems to be a local optochain of sorts) employs friendly staff, who run a pleasant operation for an industrial park, especially one so close to work for me. Turnaround time was pretty respectable, more in line with the opto– than the medical, as is to be expected; wait room was in good shape. I scheduled & went in for a pretty inane reason; confirming my prescription had plateau’d & to get re-​issued documentation of such — Dr. Chang was excellent: knowledgeable and personable.
