I like this place. They have outdoor seating on the main street and out back. I’ve only drank here and had appetizers. The beer is always fresh, food is pretty good and the staff is friendly. There can be some unsavory characters milling about. People that just look like they’re battling with addiction or financial difficulties. But, the mixed crowd helps everyone blend in it’s all good.

I’ve been here a few times with my girlfriends, we like the outdoor seating. Food is consistently good! I’ve had the Pub sirloin, it was decent. The flatbreads are good. Seems every time we go there’s a deal on wings! Nice pour on the wine. Service has always been great.

We were driving through the area and in search of a local place to have dinner. We were heading to another restaurant but saw a friendly couple who greeted us and gave an unsolicited recommendation to eat here. We were further encouraged by the menu and decided to give it a try and very happy with the choice. We were able to eat outside and it was a beautiful night. Fun music. Very cool to watch the trains going over the river at night. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave great advice for picking beers. For dinner we started with the fried pickles which were just as we’d hoped — generous portion with good pickle flavor. We had two of the specials — the mahi mahi tacos and bison burger were both well seasoned and delicious. We were also very happy with the drunken mussels, arugula salad and standard burger. My one recommendation would be some salt for the fries. Otherwise– a great meal and experience.

The Tap has really improved their food, was in there twice recently and had a terrific Reuben, and fried haddock. The beer is very good, service is friendly. I would prefer that they offer some bottled beer like Bud Light as my GF doesn’t like any of the beer they brew onsite and they don’t have any other choices. We would likely be far more frequent visitors with a minor change like that and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way. For those that love craft beer, the Bitter Rival is excellent.

The staff cares about both their Jobs and the customers experience. The food has a fantastic new approach yet still a slight hint of tradional and the sheer novelty of the house brewed beer is shadowed by the flavor. Highly recommended.

The Tap was a terrific location and a terrific setting. I had the blue cheese«brew» burger and it was terrific. Best one ever, no. But it was very very good! I hope I can make it back there soon and highly recommend this place to all my friends!

Early afternoon on a Tuesday, met up with an old friend and not only experienced excellent service but an incredibly well cooked, flavorful hamburger topped with bacon no less and a very freshly prepared mixed greens salad. I was told The Tap had the best burger in the city of Haverhill and I have to agree it was excellent. It has a great menu, a wide selection of beers and outdoor seating!

Slow service and the food was terrible. Butternut squash ravioli was terrible(is one of my favorite meals usually so I was excited to see it in the menu) and there mashed potatoes tasted like it came out of an instant bag, all gritty. I’ll never go back.

Just when I thought The Tap’s food could continue its downward slide, it didn’t. This is one of my Locals as I have been a fixture here every weekend for many years. While I have always been a Fan of their beers with few exceptions I had all but given up on finding the fare that I was so an ardent advocate for only a few years ago. My usual weekend day here has been starting with one of their damn great Bloody Marys prepared to order and always garnished lavishly. The one below with lots of great bacon, olives, celery and wedge of a bacon grilled cheese. During many a early afternoon this has been breakfast, On a recent visit with The Kid and a friend we all got burgers. They tasted of quality meat cooked to the exact specified degree of doneness. The Boys got fries that were gone in short order while I opted for the cole slaw which I was assured was made in house, perfect, crunchy with just a hint of vinegar in a sparing creamy sauce. Service during this visit was excellent, prompt, professional and sassy. A later visit at night brought myself and GF back for a Lobster Roll special. At $ 18 this was a sizable portion of claw, knuckle and tail meat minimally, but properly dressed. I could of eaten three more. During this visit we got a whisper that the usual standard Mac and Cheese was being offered as a Special(soon to be a regular offering) with an addition of the same lobster meat so how could we say no? While I am not a Fan of crumb topped Mac and Cheese this ample portion arrived piping hot with a generous portion of lobster. My GF ate as much as she could I tried to finish it off but the remainder ended up coming home. Well Done! So it appears that the kitchen at the Tap is now under the control of a Proper Chef and I look forward to see what’s next.

I don’t see what the hype is. It smells bad in the restaurant, the service is super slow even when the place is dead, and the only good thing to eat is the Buffalo Mac and cheese.

My fiancé and I went for dinner after work on a Tuesday and it was a calm and casual atmosphere. The food was very very good, especially the nachos and the waitress Kristin was very friendly. An overall great first impression.

Had a fab night here for my birthday. Bartenders were fun, made us great drinks and suggested some good snacks. Female bartender made us baby Guinness shots that were new to me and quite tasty. We’ll definitely return when in the area next, good food drinks and company. And Ryan Gosling on bar was a real treat! ;) Hey, check out my travel blog!

I gotta tap out. I REALLY wanted this to be my next great find in Haverhill’s «Restaurant Row» only to be disappointed. Liked their Whittier beer, although not very cold. The wife’s lemon drop was more like jet fuel with a twist. She and my son loved the clam chowder and liked their Caesar salads. My spicy shrimp tacos were over seasoned, and the cilantro lime crème was more like thin sour cream with dill. Yes, dill. Or did I misread the menu? Dirty rice tasted like Zatarian’s on a good day. And the chicken and goat cheese flatbread was bland and dry. God I hate to be so critical but it just missed the mark in too many ways. Would give it an extra half star here if I could as waitress Bianca was very nice, friendly and attentive. Hope to read about improvements and maybe will give ‘em another shot in the summer.

Decided to try the Tap again. Thankfully the service has improved from my last visit but it’s still only mediocre at best. Bartenders should not be responsible for serving the tables, they are obviously too busy with the bar patrons during peak times. Had the Ruben with fries it was good, it wasn’t good enough to make me return. You can only buy the beers they brew. I tried a Stout and a Blonde Ale, both were good. The prices were competitive. Cleanliness is mezza mezza. Ho hum experience.

This is the favorite bar downtown for Haverhill residents. Any beer fan will more than likely enjoy trying the beer they brew themselves here and there’s certainly a lot of local flavor, plus a trivia and karaōke night. The food is your average, typical bar fare and it seems the quality of it is being vastly inflated in some of these reviews. There’s nothing that would mark this as a place someone looking for a quality food spot should go, but your burger and nacho sports fans won’t mind it. There is better quality food in the area. They have no Bud, Coors, etc on draft or bottled and serve only their own beers. I don’t like this part, as I don’t like stouts and IPA, s so your only other options are expensive mixed drinks and the beers are up there too, so it’s common to spend as much as you would in a good restaurant here while just watching a sports game. Props to the extensive outdoor seating area which is great in the summer and can fit large groups. The staff is fine, but the new manager is incredibly rude. Most of the bartenders are Haverhillites themselves and often ignore you while talking to their friends. Go for your fancy beers, but not for anything else.

I was here with a large group tonight. Matt was our waiter. Apparently he’s regularly a bartender, but was asked to be a waiter tonight to accommodate our large group. Matt was really nice, very attentive, and was very polite. He knew enough about the beers to make recommendations. The food was decent, and I was very satisfied. I will definitely return again! Now for the beverages and food. I had the commuter ale. It was a light almost yellow colored ale. It was nice and mild. I also had the pirate party?(I think that’s what it was called). It tasted like a fancier version of a screwdriver and the rum made it interesting. I couldn’t decide between the poutine or the fried pickles, so I ordered both. The fried pickles were just ok, but the poutine was pretty good. For my entrée, I had the bbq crunch burger. It is a burger with pickles, bbq sauce, and topped with an onion ring. It was delicious. I don’t recall them having a desert menu, but I was so full that I didn’t finish my appetizers. I was able to get them to go. This was definitely a 5⁄5 experience, and I will definitely come back! The view from the patio is very nice!
