Josephs Department Store is exactly as it sounds, a department store. We carry dressier clothing for women such as Tribal & Michael Tyler, but also focus on more casual looks with brands such as Fresh Produce & Tees By Tina. We also carry women’s work wear from the likes of Carhartt & Dickies. Speaking of those two brands, we have an extensive workwear area for men as well. Want a little classier look? Then our selection of Dockers, Woolrich & Pendleton will suit your taste. We are also home of the best selection of Levi, Lee & Wrangler jeans in Harford County. Josephs is now home to Wonder Toys, so shopping for the whole family is more possible now than ever. We are also willing and able to special order anything we do not have in stock. We really are a «shoppers» store.

History

Established in 1937.

Josephs Department Store was founded in 1937 in Havre de Grace, Maryland. As it stands, it is the second oldest family owned business in Havre de Grace. Josephs is, and has been, family owned and operated since day one. In 1990, Josephs was named «Retailer of the Year» by Levi Strauss Co. In September, Josephs became the proud owner of Wonder Toys, and added it as an expansion to the current store front. In May of this year, Josephs added a next door expansion, appropriately named «The Store Next Door,“which will be utilized as a seasonal store.

My name is Alexander Scott Gordon. I was born and raised in Havre de Grace, Maryland. I have worked for Josephs Department Store for a little under a year now. I previously have worked as a line cook, a warehouse manager and a bowling alley mechanic/​desk clerk. I believe strongly in the «shop local» attitude and have made that my main inspiration in running Josephs Department Store, in hopes of making it the thriving store it was 2 decades ago.
