Great waterfront playground! We stopped by to take a break from our long car ride. Beautiful!

If you’re visiting Havre de Grace, make sure you don’t miss the Promenade — what a lovely spot for a stroll! The design really makes excellent use of the bay and surrounding space. If you begin at the lighthouse, you’ll find an ice cream spot at the other end. Whereas if you start at the restaurant and large parking lot, you’ll find the lighthouse and greenspace on the other end — it’s a no brainer and win-win. Highly recommended!

This place is so pretty! If you’re in want of some sunshine and beautiful views of the water, take a stroll on the promenade on a temperate day. Bring your fishing rod if that’s how you roll. Brush up on your MD history by reading the informative plaques that are scattered throughout the walk. Watch the adorable ducks swim about, if you’re into that sort of thing. All in all it’s a very pleasant, scenic outdoor experience in Harford County. Go get some light exercise and sun, and then reward yourself with an ice cream cone at Bomboys. :)

Whoever designed the Tydings Park and especially the Havre De Grace Promenade knew how to incorporate architecture to blend into nature. What a beautiful promenade that was created, made of rough slabs of wood that wraps and turns around part of the Havre de Grace waterfront. Along the way and along throughout the park are plaques explaining history… there is even a plaque telling you where exactly the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay! The stroll is delightful in itself, leading to a pier where people fish, hugging the rocky coastline as it continues on with magnificent views of Chesapeake Bay and the marina. You end up by the chubby white lighthouse and by the Decoy and Maritme Museum. Leave your tensions behind as you stroll and just breathe in fresh salty air and fill your eyes with sky. Were I mayor, I would promote the Promenade stroll for everyone with high blood pressure and a stressful life. In fact, we met two lovely(in spirit and looks) senior ladies who told us they strolled the Promenade every night. No wonder they radiated peace and the nice, sweet graciousness that seems to be integral to so many residents we met in the Chesapeake Bay area(Maryland folks, promote that in your tourism campaign… people who live in the Chesapeake Cities we visited were so unbelievably nice I was beginning to suspect they had been replaced by aliens! One gentleman and his elderly mother even had us follow them to the Tydings Memorial Park when we asked for directions. They didn’t tell us, they led us! People here was so outright, incredibly NICE!!) The Tydings Memorial Park has its own concession stand-the Promenade Grill, well worth a visit for its crab cake. It has a gazebo and areas for picnic and also a play area for children. Along the waterfront you can rent a parasail or jetski or just sit and enjoy the expanse of water and sky if you want a more sedate time. Just get thee down to this park.

I’ve only been to this park once but it’s a cute little park nestled in the town of Havre de Grace, Maryland. It’s right on the water; next to a marina. It has a nice playground for kids. There is also a light house there as well as a boardwalk that runs the length of the park on the water. There is a snack stand there also.
