History
Established in 1926.
The Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of PPL’s Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley, Pa. The hydroelectric plant provides clean, renewable energy in times of high electricity demand.
The learning center provides opportunities to learn more about the environment as well as cultural and historical resources of the lake region. PPL offers programs and workshops to teachers, students and the public on the environment, conservation and the lake. Visit us during our operating hours for a self-guided tour, informational displays and hands-on activities.
