Magic Smile

TLDR; stay away, unless you want to be serviced by idiots that don’t know what they’re doing and want to rape your insurance.
I have been a patient for over a year, I recently have had some terrible experiences over the span of four days here. I came in Monday 11/​16/​2015, for a check up for a problem tooth. They run through the basics, X-​rays, check the teeth, cleaning, all that jazz. Possibly I need a root canal. Whoopee! Instead of performing any service Dr. Paul, as incompetent as he is mentioned that he can’t perform any such service as he is not properly trained to do so (mind you, he claims to have been a practicing dentist for over 10 years), so he reschedules me for another appointment later in the same week with another dentist.
Since he couldn’t properly diagnose a root canal, I had to miss work for the second time the SAME week. So I reschedule for Thursday 11÷19÷15 to meet with Dr. Ramir or his wife Martha (SP?), they check me in for a 10 am appointment at 9:50am, they take me back and just waste some time for 30 –40 minutes and take an X-​ray, the same X-​ray they took on Monday, fine. All of the sudden after another 20 minutes the doctor that’s supposed to be a specialist in root canals comes in and says she can’t do a root canal because she can’t see anything in the X-​rays!!! She didn’t even open my mouth to check the tooth! She immediately asked to send me to a specialist, luckily I know trust the specialist and was able to get seen right away and not waste more time of mine than magic smile and staff has already wasted for me and billed for services that they didn’t even perform. So I get to the endodontist office and they perform the root canal in less than 45 minutes and said that the previous office should have performed this with ease and that they have already billed for this service. I had to pay out of pocket for magic smiles shady billing practices.
This is the worst dental practice in existence, but I still decided to come back because they already billed for services. I came back to complete the preparation for a crown, the my did the usual, grind the tooth down, take measurements and impressions for the crown. The idiot assistant Mark (Vietnamese male) puts on the temporary crown BACKWARDS and cements it down without telling me; I can’t feel anything as I am numbed up. I find this out a few days after when my gums start swelling up. I call back and they say it’s normal. I didn’t bother checking as I had an appointment on ¹²⁄₁₉ to get my permanent crown installed, another problem.
So ¹²⁄₁₉ comes around, I made the appointment for 8am on ¹²⁄₃. I walk in, sign my name, Cynthia says in a rude manner «your appointment isn’t til 9:00am,» at this point I begin to lose it she made me physically prove to her that my appointment was at 8:00AM. Why would I lie and go out of my way to wake up early on a SATURDAY to come fuck around with a dentist office?! A crown that Mark measured and took four impression doesn’t fit! I had to argue again with the office manager to make sure they rush the damn crown so I can get in I’m time and never come to this hell hole of an amateur dental establishment again.

I give four stars instead of five only because the wait time can be long but the customer service definitely makes it worth the wait. The front office staff is wonderful including the dentists and DA but my favorite experience thus far after being a patient here for a while was with Erika. She was the most helpful person I have EVER encountered. She went out of her way to help me with extra stuff with insurance and medical and helping me find an oral surgeon that accepted my medical. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t have known what to do about my situation but she walked me through the steps and even called to set up my appointment where I was referred to. Thank you so much Erika you definitely deserve employee of the month or even a raise. Great customer service!

I dont know about the other dentists in this location but i had an awful and traumatic experience with the persian looking dentist.
I felt all the pain during a deep cleaning.
It was only half of my teeth for almost an hour and it was more tiring than a days work.
All the DAs are friendly and helpful.

Horrible service! Always more than a 40 min wait. They overbook and don’t realize patients are always waiting for more than 40 min. Company needs work.

Dr Martin was great, fast, pain free and an amazing bed side manner. Made me feel at ease being at the dentist! Thank you.

I love this place ! All the DA’s are very friendly and helpful when you have any questions. I’m not soo picky with my dentist but I prefer Dr. Paul or Dr. Chris. They have a gentle hand that when I get anesthesia they don’t hurt me. Like any other dentist you do have to sit and wait but not for a looong time. And they are also open late making it easier for me to go in the afternoon. Insurance wise they explain what will be covered and give you the best payment options in order to get your treatment done.

I have been comming to this office for a while… Back office staff are allways friendly. I never had to wait for a looong time to be called. The front desk staff lack customer service. but the back office staff makes-​up for it.

The service here has to be one of the worst I have ever experienced. I had gone here 3 or 4 times (with little issue) for my regular checkup, ex ray and cleaning. However the last time I went they made me wait for over an 90 min not even once checking on me. When I finally asked (after the 1^st 30min of waiting) what was taking so long they told me the doctor was behind schedule and would be with me as soon as possible. 30 min later I’m still waiting, mind you 6 people have come in and left while I was waiting. I finally just walked out and never came back. Then when I called them for a copy of my X-​rays to give to me new dentist I discovered that they had only taken 7 out of the 18 or so required films of me. So I had to pay to have my X-​rays done again, since insurance only pays for X-​rays once a year. If you do not have insurance and have time to wait then I guess you won’t mind this place because they offer really cheap cash payments, but for me it’s not worth it, not when my insurance allows me to go somewhere more professional and trust worthy. I will never go back. They actually have to nerve to still call me asking me if I want to set up an appointment, seriously!

My family has been going here for years and I’m ashamed that I’ve only now started to write a review.
This is a family run dentistry, which I didn’t realize the benefits of until I’m older and moved out. No matter where I live, or what I’m doing, I know that I can always come here for the best treatment possible. The atmosphere is always kind, welcoming and professional.

The more I think about my experience at this place the more I get upset. This place is set up like a factory of scripted employees. This is my first time going to this place, but I’ve gone to different private dentist groups all my life ¾ times a year so I’m not new to going to the dentist. First of all I didnt even sign the consent form, (that’s considered battery btw) because they are trying to pump people in and out as fast as possible ($$$&$&). They tell everyone they need a painful (possibly unessessary) deep cleaning”. U might have ²⁄₃ different «dentist» at a time in your space in your mouth or asking about your mouth throughout your appt. in addition to the dental assistants I can remember about 3!. This place seems like a scam! I have the worst headache from their deep cleaning. Smh, I won’t b returning! Bad move :(

My whole family has been going to Magic Smile for years. One of my sons had two incisors growing sideways. He would try not to smile because of it. The doctors were able to do a surgery that allowed the tooth to grow normally into place. They placed a screw twist device in his gums and would gradually increase the tension on the tooth at each visit. It worked miraculously. My son has a beautiful smile now that he easily shows off.
These people are wonderful, very kind and considerate. They continuously ask you if you are okay while they work on you. I am very happy with the quality of the dentists and the level of customer service you receive, which is definitely A+++.

Everything in the other reviews are true, especially the part about them not collecting the co-​insurance. Don’t think for a moment they are losing a dime… they make sure they get theirs when they bill. They overbill the charges which more than makes up for what the patient doesn’t pay. Last year I had a plan allowing $ 1500.00 of work. I had 2 root canals, 1 crown, a bridge, my teeth were cleaned and 2 silver fillings replaced with white. My dentist too, does not collect the coinsurance.
This year I changed jobs and had to wait 6 mths. for my benefits. During that time I had difficulties with a tooth on each side. My dentist was very generous and saw me w/​o charging me but couldn’t find the problem.
Both my daughter and friend get treated at Magic Smile so I decided to give them a try when I received my benefits. My limit,$ 2000.00. Magic Smile did a root canal and a crown for one side. When I had the crown put on I asked them about the issue on my right. I was informed that the tooth was cracked at the root and had to be removed.
I made an appt. with the oral surgeon to have it done and when I went, I was told they would happily do it but I would have to pay cash as my benefits were exhausted.
It was during the research to find out what happened that I found out about Magic Smiles billing practices. It turns out they received $ 1000.00 for the root canal alone. That is 2 ½ times the normal rate for that service
Since I can’t afford the oral surgeon, I could not get my tooth removed. I have to wait until January when my new benefits are applied.
So, if you don’t mind them stealing your benefits or taking the chance of being put in the same situation then I say… go for it. Get treated at Magic Smile… don’t say you weren’t forwarned.

Don’t judge the office by it’s cover. LMAO from the outside you may not have a good feel however upon entry you discover a clean upscale dentist office with the nicest front desk receptionists ever. They strive @ making sure you will never wait no longer then 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. They are not big sticklers for collecting the patients co-​insurance. The dentists as well as the dental assistants are extremely well established within their careers as it reflects within their work. My best advise is to go and get your dental plan checked and i’m totally sure you will not leave unhappy. Cash patients are also welcome with great Cash Patient benefits & contracts.

This office is always professional. They usually work hard to do good work in a timely matter. That’s probably what I appreciate the most. In & Out so I don’t worry about more noises or tugging. but with incredible meticulous service.
My insurance at work used to be in network with this company so I had the «Cadillac» dental plan. but new job, new insurance, new out of network plan, is basically the main reason why I stopped coming here. They work with you on payments since they have their own financing department, but it’d be easier for me to find a dentist who I’m covered under.
I loved Dr. Martinez! But honestly, everyone here is great & nice. even the oral surgeon who comes twice a month is awesome. I needed some wisdom teeth removal and he was nice, charming, and fast! Someone like me who’s actually afraid of the dentist appreciates this place since they’re always calming. Parking’s tight, so if it’s during rush hour be prepared to park across the street instead of the lot to the side of the building.
