So I went here the other day. Felt judged. Maybe it’s race or appearance thing. I know I don’t look like typical cyclist but I know about bikes. Didn’t acknowledge me when I came in until after they saw me walk the whole store. Asian guy behind the counter just stares at you and has this stupid grin. Can’t even ask him something with out him trying to talk down on you or try to make you feel stupid. Yea he’s a douche. I’ve been to many shops but this one by far is the worst on customer service. Not just my experience but other people’s I’ve heard as well. So yea it’s true. So sad for a bike shop located downtown and to be that rude towards paying customers that walk in. By the way I was going to buy a $ 3500 bike I saw there and I was going to pay cash.

I took 2 bikes in to get tuned up and was very disappointed. For one, when we went to drop bikes off I was greeted by a rude white blonde guy with lip piercings talking down to me the whole time. Technician’s were great very informative and explained what was going to be replaced on my bike. The Kicker is when i went to pay about 500 dollars and the Asian guy in a leather jacket ringing me up wouldn’t even talk to me and when i went to leave, he didnt even thank me for my service. Little does he know he works at a bike shop, something most people stop doing before they are 40. ALL IN ALL, DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT FRIENDLY SERVICE.

Got excellent service here a few months ago when we decided to buy some bikes. We bought a mens bike, womens bike, & a little bike for my son. All 3 are specialized brand bikes. We’ve been super happy with them so far as they’re great for exercise and family fun too. The people who work at Cycle path are very knowledgable and informative too. Alex I know has been a bike enthusiast for years and years. If you’re interested in buying a bike, stop by here and let these folks take care of you.

First — I start my review by saying that I do not fit the profile of most bicyclists: I am a black, older female who is overweight. I say this because often when I walk into a bicycle shop I am not acknowledged. It is a problem that many women have. But I am a certified by the League of American Bicyclists to teach bicycle safety. I have my own business where I teach bicycle safety. I own 6 bicycles including a track bike (I am certified to ride on the velodrome) I AM an experienced cyclist.
I stopped by Cyclepath to get advice on where I could ride in the area. I asked if they had bike path maps and they had none. I explained to the sales guy that I was in Hayward to train my niece who was planning on competing in a triathlon. I also let him know that I had a vintage road bike I was letting her use. I was also planning on introducing her to a clip-​less system.
Then the ball game started. Let’s see if this guy would strike out.
Strike 1 — He said: I don’t use clip-​less pedals and I beat all those guys up the hills around here with their clip-​less pedals.
Strike 2 — When I asked him where to ride he said: I’m sure you’re looking for some gnarly hills with 3000 feet of climbing in 2 miles (okay I’m exaggerating)! No, I want a relatively flat area where it’s a separated bike lane so I can teach her proper technique for starting, stopping and pedaling, etc. Oh, said he, I don’t know where that would be.
Strike 3 — He said after asking me her height: I have the perfect bike for her when she’s ready to buy. He took me over to a $ 3500 Specialized road bike. Wait a minute! Didn’t i just tell him I was lending her a bike? BTW he never asked her age and if she had a budget to buy a bike.
STRIKE OUT. GAME OVER.
I will recommend that my niece steer clear of this shop. Too bad because the shop carried a good selection of bicycling goodies. Time to search for a bicycle shop in Hayward where I am treated with respect.
It will be interesting to see if this store responds to this review. I would like to think that one sales person needs training instead of this review representing the culture of the store.

They were not very friendly… first thing the dude was ask so and so instead of trying to help me. Then when the other guy came out he said «nope not gunna happen“he didnt even give me the time of day or offer any suggestions. All i had was a flat tire i wanted to fix. Never going there again.

Cyclepath is a fairly large bicycle shop with a wide variety of road, hybrid, urban, and mountain bikes. Also, it has a ton of accessories, gear, and components for your every day cycling needs. Although, I did not purchase a bike from here; I did get my tube replaced for my road bike. The cost and service was pretty competitive compared to a lot of the other local bike shops in Hayward/​Castro Valley.
I will most definitely be back!

Employees at cycle path are incompetent went in on 10/​31/​2015 to buy a chain for my fixed gear bike. Alex told me I don’t need a chain breaker. as I am being rung up by a lady named Amelia she stats «I need a chain breaker». so we go back and talk to Alex he says we don’t I continued with my purchase. I went to install it and come to find out I needed a chain breaker. So today 11÷4÷2015 I decide to go back in and tell them what had happened. the owner wasn’t helpful blamed me for the miscommunication and won’t acknowledge his employees mistake. I asked for a 10% discount on a chain breaker for the mistake and the manager couldn’t give me an e explanation as to why he couldn’t. I shopped here before with phenomenal help but this experience rubbed me the wrong way. I Won’t be shopping here again and you should do the same until the employees are trained and competent, and the manager/​owner doesn’t reward his employees for there incompetence.

Best bike shop in the east bay by far! Staff is very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve been shopping here for 20+ years. Great bike selection not to mention tools parts and accessories! From my old school 308 mm spokes to Phil wood grease they have it all and at a fair price. I work at a bike shop and get stuff below wholesale but I still shop here often that should say it all.

Though I am new to biking, I had millions of questions concerning the right type of bike I want, Amelia helped me with all my questions and there customer service is excellent.

Great bike shop. I’m new to the area and stumbled on this shop only because it’s close to one of my jobs. After dealing with the staff at cyclepath, I’m happy to say that I’ll be dealing with this shop for all my cycle needs.

One star. Decent selection of bikes, but every single thing in this store is horribly overpriced. Even with the prices, I still found a bike I liked. The bike was almost perfect, except the seat was a little too low for me. A wonderful employee helped pick out a new seat and post that made the bike fit me like a glove. However, as I found out on my way to the checkout, the new seat and post didn’t come with the bike and would cost me an extra $ 50. Almost $ 500 for a bike and it doesn’t even come with a seat. I tried everything I could to close the deal but the owner was adamant. Aparently he will lose money selling a $ 500 bike without charging an extra $ 50 for seat and post. Absolutely disgraceful. I would recommend any other bike store in any other city. Avoid this place at all costs

In the beginning I was a little skeptical about this store because of the average review rating that they have. But now after being a customer of this store for almost a year I really don’t understand all the negative reviews that people wrote.
I purchased my Mountain Bike from this store in Aug. 2014. Ben Schweng gave me the best deal on my 2014 Specialized StumpJumper FSR Elite than 12 other stores that spoke to in the Bay Area. Absolutely everybody of the store staff are super nice people, very helpful, definitely knowledgeable and pleasure to work with.
After a purchase of my bike I’ve been in this store for at least 10 more times for different reasons like a question or info that I want to know, bike tune up, bike adjusted, small repairs, ordering new bike equip, new gear, new tires etc. And every time I walked out of the store with a very positive feeling and it doesn’t even matter who assisted me at that time.
I’m totally ignoring all the other negative reviews!

I have fair amount of experience when comes bike. I do most of the parts shopping online and do most of install and tuning my self. I went in because Specialized uses perprioitory tools for certain parts that I didn’t have. To my surprise the guys here took care of my part issue on the spot and charged a nominal fee for the quick service.
If you need any service done to your bike, this place is for you. No upscale or bull. Just straight down to business and get you out so you can enjoy the ride!

I managed to mess up the pedals and crank arms of my bike by pressing too hard while climbing a steep hill so I decided to bring it into cyclepath for the repair since they’re nearby to where I live and had reasonable rates.
Was a little bit hesitant at first since one of the managers stepped in and interrupted the technician trying to assess the repair (told him to stop using his tools?) and and wasn’t super customer friendly but wasn’t rude. The worst case scenario repair would have been pretty expensive but I needed to get it fixed and tuned up so decided to go ahead.
In the end, the repair was done on time, came in well under budget since they managed to save a few existing parts, and they did a great job informing me about some details to be aware of on the bike and even gave a straightforward answer when I asked about a couple worthwhile upgrades. Solid repair too it’s riding great now. Will definitely be back!

Had a flat tire and I was close by and visit CyclePath. They fixed my tire quick! Very happy with customer service. I will return and recommend. And this place is huge filled with nice bikes and everything related to bicycle. I glanced at some prices for bikes and they are up there (Berkeley prices).

They were extremely helpful when my son called to see if they had what he was looking for and explained the bike he was asking for was no longer being made. They went on to tell him about another bike that they have that is comparable that he might like. We went down last night to check it out and had great service!!! Even got a few extras that I wouldn’t have thought about had they not asked.

Sometimes you feel the difference in a place that wants you in their store and the ones that don’t. When I first walked in I literally felt unwelcomed and when I asked for the girls help, she told me that its best to bring my bike to tell me anything. It felt like I was not even in a bike store where people can just buy their own stuff and do it on their own.
For many years I’ve give this store many chances but I think I’m going to change places simply because their are just so cold with their customers. Customer service is more than just selling you have to give people a reason to come back.

I’ve been do business with cyclepath since I moved here to Hayward 8 years ago they have always went above and beyond to make sure my purchase is a pleasant one. Recently i brought to them my fat bike build in with i had custom painted they put it together for me a i get compliments everywhere i go i will Always do business with them and encourage anyone who is looking to purchase or get work done to do business with them. The guys there are great!

I am giving a 5-​star rating based on my first visiting experience to this shop. As a female cyclist for many years, I really like how the guys (some looked like teenagers) greeted me. And I really liked my experience with Ben. He shared his expert opinions with me about replacing a 160 crank back to a 165. My cogs have a very wide range for the steepest hill climb, or I could the original set back on which had a smaller range. We talked options, and I felt equally a part of this conversation.
Ben sized me up right away in suggesting things that I definitely favored, like replacing. My grimy grey handlebar tape with a black one. I am very picky and like nice work, even down to clean lines of tape that secures the bar tape. I am picky about having my seat post replaced exactly the height I have it. I asked Ben to tape it, and he did it right away! I was blown away to experience an empathic response, for something other bike shop guys seem to always forget or downgrade to a useless task.
I can’t wait to pick up my bike, and write a separate review!

I can’t find anything bad to pick on them for!
Last-​minute run to buy a tougher lock for my 2007 Specialized Allez Elite. Walked out happy.
