I had a very poor experince with these guys. The price was good and the packers did a great job but the driver was another story. Here are my issues: The crew forgot to pack the hardware for our baby’s crib. Apparantly someone put them in their pocket. So upon delivery we were unable to build the crib. Instead of overnighting the hardware as soon as they realized the mistake, it’s been 4 days and still nothing. A few nice pieces of furniture were damaged. Again, no follow-​up from an adjuster as promised. Finally, the driver promised a Friday delivery (he confirmed that he had ample time to make this delivery) yet the truck was a day late. That cost us a nice chunk of money for an additional night in temporary housing. To make it worse, I had to call him to find out that we weren’t receiving delivery on friday. Terrible communication from the driver and a company that didn’t come through on any of their promises. I would NOT recommend this outfit.

I made a 9:30 am appt. for an estimate and told my team at work that I would be be there by 11. I would have been, if Excel would have arrived on time. After multiple calls with a crappy reception on their end, «hello, hello, can you hear me» *disconnect* *repeat*. 50 minutes later she finally arrives, after expressing her disappointment on the phone with me, «OH, it’s an apartment.» Then, she argues with me re the time of the appointment, that «it was actually an arrival time of 9:30−10 am.» Really? Even if it was 10 am, you still got here at 10:20.
The quote was ridiculous, probably b/​c they outsource their jobs. I’m sorry, but this is not the company for me. I do not like wasting money. I gave them 2 starts because a friend used them and said they did on alright job.
The woman said she would email me, a few days later, I never received an email so I emailed her. Do you think I got a reply? NO. Completely unprofessional. We are going with a company in Sunnyvale that takes pride in their work.

I had the best experience with Excel Moving they were professional and moved my things for less than the estimate called for. I was very nervous i couldn’t be on locatin for the whole move however they did a marvelous job. I’d moved just one year previous to this move unexpectedly and they had no problem moving my things. Actually left my house nice and neat. Thank you Excel!

Excel Moving Services spoiled what was going to be an exciting new episode, a move from the Bay Area to Ashland, Oregon.
The people I met at the company were to a person nice, pleasant and helpful. That would have been great if those were the people who handled my belongings. There was a scheduling mixup and one of their drivers loaded the truck with our things too early. He called to say he was on the way up and I let him know it was not time.
As I imagine it he was upset at having to unload my things and probably just tossed them off the truck.
To make a long story short, missing boxes, broken furniture, scraped up bicycles. Some of the things they broke are irreplaceable.
I paid extra for «replacement value» but when the settlement came I was nickel and dime’d. It was never about the money but the grief of watching your belongings come off the truck in pieces.
I hate to say not to use this company because I suspect they do a great job most of the time and it’s a shame that one bad apple gives the entire company a black eye but that’s what happened to me.

I love this company! They did my move again in October 2013. They always give fair pricing and great service with professional guys =) They have moved me since I first joined the military in 2003. They’ve been moving me continuously even since I got out of the military. Bruce and Robert are super sweet. Thanks again guys for being an awesome!!!

I am moving to Hawaii which, all things being equal, can be challenging and daunting, especially when it comes to selecting a reputable mover. Excel came to me via a «forwarder» (DeWitt Movers) for the purpose of doing a «survey». So far, so good… the guy sent to do the Survey called me a few days before the scheduled date to request an earlier or later date (the SF Bay Bridge was due to be closed on the day scheduled and it was more convenient for him to reschedule — I rescheduled)…
Mike came to my apartment and took all of 10 — 15 minutes to do the survey. At the time, I asked him what Excel’s further involvement would be and he said, once he passes the survey results on, Excel was through — first «lie». I then said, «how long before I get a quote?» and he said, «three to seven days» and I said, «no way, I need it sooner; can you expedite it?» and he replied, «I’ll try — I’ll put this info into the system today or tomorrow». Finally, I said, «please email me the contact person who will take over once you are through» and he said, «OK» — that never happened.
A full week later, I called Mike back and asked where my quote was — he got very defensive and disputed almost all of what we had spoken about previously… I got back in his face and told him the service was unacceptable, that his service was very poor, etc. He ended up hanging up on me.
Yesterday — a week and a day after Mike’s visit, I called the office of Excel. Bruce answered. I explained my unsatisfactory dealings with Mike, and how disappointed I was. Bruce said, «Sorry about that» (sorry about That??? WTF — what is «that»??? — poor service, Mike hanging up on me, etc.).
I went through all of the above with Bruce who, as the call progressed, got more frustrated with my anger and disappointment; to the point where he said, «well, if you don’t like our service, you shouldn’t deal with us» — WTF? At that point, I asked Bruce, «who is your boss — what’s his or her name and phone #?»; he replied, «I am the owner of the company» and my head almost fell off !!!
When the owner of a company makes excuses for an employee’s rudness and poor treatment of a potential customer (he said, «Mike is our new guy»); and when the owner of a company can only say, «sorry about that» before telling a potential customer to take his business elsewhere; and, when that same owner adopts the method of his poor employee for ending a phone call (hanging up on the potentiakl customer — yes, Bruce hung up on me just like Mike had done the day earlier), it is time for a ZERO stars warning to other potential customers of this so called «moving service» — because CUSTOMER service does not seem to be a strong suit, at least in my recent experience… Bruce and Mike were rude, challenged in the competency department, complacent and aggressive in the extreme at the same time — Mike being new might get a pass on some of this; Bruce the company owner, no way —
CAVAET EMPTOR !!!

I have used Excel Moving 3 times within a 14 month period and all instances my wife were very satisfied. The 3 different crews were very fast, polite and accommodating. All of them never showed resentment when it came to changes of the transfer or additional tasks that would affect their rigid schedules. I highly recommend Excel Moving & Transfer to anyone who holds a high value of interest to their belongings and lessen the burdensome of moving complexities.

I recently used Excel to move to LA with less than a week notice. Dean was my rep and I can not say enough about his amazing customer service. He handled all my needs super fast and was available with a smile for every question– even gave me his cell.
They graciously made arrangements to pick up and deliver the next day when I only had a chance to book about 48 hrs before. Everything was handled safely and I highly recommend them!!!

Hired this firm for a local move recently and am pretty pleased. They arrived on time, worked quickly and were careful with our items. They finished early and the final bill was around $ 120 under the initial quotation!
I have used Mayflower companies to move over the past 15 years and have generally had good experiences with them.
I would recommend them.

We use them for corporate moves– an office with about 100 people. Then, again for consolidating a factory into a single building. They are very professional and remarkably helpful. I would use them again any time!

A tenant in my building hired Excel to move in. After the move, there was some slight damage to a handrail leading downstairs. I called Excel, and Bruce immediately, and without questioning me, offered to either have his person fix it or pay for my own repair person. I choose to have our man do the work, and Excel sent a check right away. I consider this to be excellent customer service, much better response then I’m used to from movers.

I’ve never hired a moving company before, but definitely needed to for our recent relocation. I had a million questions since I’ve never worked with a mover before. They were very patient with all my questions. Marlene came out and gave us an estimate. She was very knowledgeable, having been in the business for 30 or so years. Email communication was clear if a bit slow at times, but maybe I was just being anxious since I’m new at this.
The crew they sent to get us all packed up were great. Amalia led the group and they worked really hard on the hottest day of the year and got us ready to go. I didn’t hear anything get broken during boxing, and didn’t hear any of them yell out «oh no!!» once.
The next day, our driver Chris arrived with his crew of 5 guys. These guys worked amazingly fast, and the loader in the truck must have gone through 4 sets of clothes that day, as it was about 150 degrees inside that truck and he was drenched in sweat. But boy, did he know his stuff! Again, no boxes were dropped and they took extra special care of my heirloom antique dining table & chairs. It took about 9 hours from when they showed up to when Chris drove the truck away.
Fast-​forward 3 days and the truck is at our new home and the unloading began. I wasn’t there for the unload, but my husband supervised Chris and his local helpers, and they got it all done in about 7 hours. We’ve unpacked most of our boxes now, and so far, the only thing damaged was a caster off a rolling file cart. Pretty minor, if you ask me. They banged a few of the walls in the house, but again, nothing I’m going to file a claim over. The weight ended up being more than Marlene quoted, but we didn’t have to cover it.
Overall, we had a very good experience with Excel and would recommend them.

Moving in itself is an extremely stressful period in anyone’s life. However, with the help of Excel Moving Services, it turned out to be a very pleasant experience for me from start to finish. Everything from my free estimate, packing day, and receiving my shipment went surprisingly smoothly. I was especially impressed with the customer service, for moving makes me very nervous, and I had a million questions, and not once did Bruce (the President of the company) seem annoyed that I called multiple times. He was very helpful in answering all of my questions really followed through with all of my special requests. I was also pleased with how timely my move was and how NOTHING was broken on arrival! Amazing! Because of my positive experience with this company, I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for assistance with their move. I felt like I got quality attention from a very nice sales person, Marcus, who didn’t make me feel pressed into a sale. The crew who came to my house was very friendly, efficient, and timely. My move was on-​time, organized, and arrived all in one piece! What more could I ask for?

I’ve used Excel twice, for two separate moves, and both times have been very good experiences. They were fairly priced, on time, and careful with the packaging and transport of our furniture. All 6 workers were curtious and hard-​working, they did not waste a minute.
In the end, there was a slight billing issue that I had, however, I called them to let them know what I felt was a mistake, and they resolved the issue. I would hire them again.

I had a similar experience with this company as several other reviewers. I called Excel for an estimate and set up an appointment for one of their estimators to be at my house at 11:30 on the day in question. They assured me they would call me if anything changed. 11:30 came and went with nary a phone call from the company. Don’t waste your time with this company. They are non-​responsive and clearly not interested in maintaining any kind of customer base.

I had a great experience with Excel Moving Services. I did not have any of the bad experiences that some of the other reviewers have commented on. The movers were very prompt and courteous when they were at our house. The girls at the office advised me every step of the way and was very clear on the whole moving process. I would definitely use Excel again for any moves I do and I will highly recommend them to anyone I know.

I called 2 weeks ago and made an appt. with them to come over to give me an estimate (they don’t make appts until they visually inspect your stuff). Since they only make appts 8am –5pm M-​F, I made an 8am appt for today (and told my work that I would go in late this morning). They said it would take about 15 min. for the inspection. OK, I alloted them a half hour, just to be safe.
8:05am — I call the office and ask if the guy is coming or not? The lady tells me, oh yeah, I saw him this morning, he should be at your place any minute now!
8:23am — I call the office again. A guy answers, I tell him I am still waiting for the 8am appt guy to show up. Hold please. The guy who is supposed to meet me is now connected on the other line. He says, «Oh, I’m sorry, my assistant was supposed to call you and tell you we needed to reschedule. I am nowhere in your area.» I said, «Nobody called me. I called at 8:05am and they said you were going to be here any minute now.» His response, «I’m so sorry ma’am. Perhaps we can reschedule? What’s your phone number? I’ll call you right back; maybe I can meet you after you get off work». Long story short — it’s been 2.5 hrs and no return phone call. If this is the way they treat customers BEFORE they even have a scheduled move, then no thanks, I can’t risk them doing this to me the day of my move! So unprofessional!!! X-(They are on the «diamond certified» website list — supposed to have great reviews and all that — makes me wonder how useful that site is…

Excel Moving Services was recommended to me and what a dissapoinment they were.
I called them a month ahead of my scheduled move date and was assured on availability. I was told no cost could be given to me over the phone and they will need to send someone to my home to see what needed to be moved. Ok so far so good, I read that reputable movers don’t give estimates over the phone.
We set up an appointment for the quote. The quote day was set for a week later at 12:30pm…10:30am day of appointment I get a call from the person that is scheduled to come to do the quote… she proceeded to tell me they were all booked for the week I am planning to move and she saw no point in coming over to give me a quote since they have no one available to do the move.
She told me she didn’t check on availability until the day of the appointment. I told her that I found them (the company) extremely unprofessional.
I took a day off for nothing since they can’t do the job. I am probably better off anyways if this is an indication of their work.
Anyhow in my book EXCEL MOVING SERVICES gets a — STAR (if that existed) for NO CUSTOMER SERVICE… and NO CONSIDERATION FOR OTHER PEOPLE’S TIME. Don’t use them.
