Karen and her staff were fantastic. We had our conference opening reception at the Oakland Museum for approximately 1300 people and everything was flawless. Tommie was on top of his game and made sure that everything was exactly where it needed to be.
Before the Party: Karen and Tommie are a great team. Working with Tommie was really easy. He took the time to explain the menu, send us the set up schematics, worked with Anthony for our light set up, worked with the band for the band rider and coordinated with the museum regarding set up, heat, and pretty much everything else a party needs. He was very communicative and professional. I knew that I could just come to the party and have a good time!
The décor: Karen and her team went out of their way to make sure that the décor matched our conference theme (rooted in authenticity). The flower arrangements were beautiful, the tables and the bars were set up exactly in the right place to allow for flow of people. the food was presented beautifully. I give this an A++.
The food: The food was absolutely on point. We had several food stations and each was better than the next. Sliders, Lobster Quesadillas, Chicken and Waffles, Dim Sum, Caharcuterrie — one better than the next. And let me not forget the dessert: the cream puffs were heavenly! The food portions were also perfect for people to walk around with food and chat. Everything was also very thoughtfully presented and just beautiful. Not something easy to pull off for 1300 people. We had greeters at the entrance of the gardens with wine and that was a really nice touch that Tommie suggested! Everyone was so impressed.
Overall Karen and her team are truly fantastic. The food was amazing, the décor was beautiful, the staff was courteous, and they made party planning easy for us. I would hire Karen Bevels in a heart beat!

I gave Karen Bevels Catering a challenging wedding style they had never done before on this scale: a Chinese catered style dinner for 200+ guests, family style in which 8 or so courses are served over a period of 1 – 1.5 hours. I had my wedding reception at an outdoor venue, but I wanted a fairly traditional Chinese family style dinner which can usually only be had at Chinese restaurants. Of the 10 or so vendors on my venue’s preferred caterers list, KBC was the only caterer that was willing to do it. Throughout the process, the Anthony and Karen were both extremely helpful and willing to do whatever I wanted and their prices were very reasonable.
Day of: the staff at KBC were PHENOMENAL at my wedding. Every single staff member I encountered was so amazingly warm and friendly, almost every guest commented on how nice everyone was. I had my bridesmaids in charge of a few things, but the the KBC staff told them not to worry about certain things and that they would take care of it. My cake caterer fell through with setting up our cake display, but Anthony was very nice and made our dessert bar look AMAZING. My husband and I didn’t get a chance to eat much since we were so pumped up on the energy at the wedding and the staff kindly offered to pack up our dinner. I’m not sure if this was pure coincidence or planned, but I noticed a few of the servers/​bartenders were Vietnamese. Either way, it was very nice to have them there as half of our guests were limited-​English speaking Vietnamese. Also, at the end of the night, one of the Vietnamese bartenders came around and offered glasses of cognac to some of our guests since he knew this was the preferred drink at special Vietnamese occasions. This was a nice touch and I am still warmed weeks after our wedding as I believe KBC tried their utmost best to deliver on something they had never done before and were so thoughtful in their approach to our wedding.
My only complaint is that the food was just okay and a little underwhelming. If I could do it over, I would’ve rather had a smaller number of courses done perfectly to my liking, or maybe hired a Chinese chef more accustomed to doing large family style dinners and had KBC staffing at my event. The mishaps, though, are somewhat small compared to our overall experience with KBC and I would recommend their services to anyone.

WOW! What can I say about Karen Bevels Catering other than that they are fantastic!!! Karen and her entire team were extremely professional, communicative, and accommodating. Karen just did our wedding at the Los Altos History Museum and did a wonderful job! The food was delicious and fun (we had chinese dim sum and jamaican food). Everything looked beautiful and professional and we got tons of compliments! Karen worked with me to stay within certain budgets and found ways for me to save in costs! She is extremely generous and a delight to work with! I would recommend Karen Bevels Custom Catering to anyone!!!

I just got married this past weekend and to say there were a few hiccups in the planning process is an understatement. However, the rock solid base we knew we had was all because of Karen Bevel’s catering staff and service. Any strange requests, or problems that needed solving, Anthony Mann and his staff were there to help before and during the wedding.
We needed a day-​of coordinator and they made it happen. We needed a tent due to rain and they were able to help. We needed different foods for different people and they said no problem. My wife and I had the perfect wedding, and it was perfect because of this caterer. We have four thumbs up for them and we highly recommend them to any couple, company or party that wants good service and great food.

The service that was given by Karen Bevels, Anthony Mann and the staff could not have been better. There were some changes as the event came closer and they were able to make the changes without batting an eye. The food was excellent, service was superb and all our friends have raved to my daughter and I about how wonderful everything was. We were both delighted with the entire event. I am certain we will use Karen for other occasions.
I will recommend Karen Bevels Catering to everyone who wants something better than the usual catering services.

Amazing catering company! Karen Bevels, Anthony Mann, and staff were wonderful and very helpful with the planning of a memorial gathering in honor of my father. The food was divine and guests that attended the celebration are still talking about how delicious the food was, presentation, how delightful and professional the staff is. They all showed a keen eye to every detail. In addition, due to higher guest count than expected, I had to make a change from a sit down dinner to a passed appetizer and buffet style affair days before the event. Karen Bevels and her staff kept me calm and made the appropriate changes to help make our event a true success. My mother and I will definitely have Karen Bevels cater for us again and we highly recommend that you do so as well :-)

Kim’s wedding was above and beyond anything I could have imagined. The service was impeccable! The food was fabulous! Your staff were very hospitable and agreeable to all requests! 10 out of 10 is what I would rate you!!!

Karen is amazing, her team is amazing, her food is scrumptious… she takes more than 5 stars. Her attention to detail is exceptional. I cannot say enough about her and her team. There is no other caterer that I have met that you can ask for so much and it is all done with a smile. Food Allergies-​check, Gluten free-​check, vegan-​check, move chairs now-​check, move them back-​check, 50 more people just showed up-​check, give me a hug before i kill everyone here-​check.

Karen is great — we had a party at our house, first time we’ve ever used caterers. Karen runs a professional business, the food was delicious, the wedding reception was great in big part to the caterers, they stayed on top of everything. They left our house clean, to the extent of even taking the garbage. The coordinators we had — awesome they took care of everything. So many compliments we received from our guest in regards to Karen Bevels Custom Catering!!! Karen will always be the person I call for catering!!!

Not sure if this place is still open as I use to get the daily emails with the special which were always pretty good. Some were over the top but since getting that in Hayward is rare I loved it.

I am an event planner and I have worked with Karen on several occasions now and every time it has been wonderful. between her careful attention to detail, her timeliness, her flexibility and capacity to adapt to what you need, her sweet character, her great and helpful staff, her delicious food and willingness to work with you on pricing… I love working with Karen and would highly recommend her for anyone needing catering at an event.

The food was fabulous & my guests complimented me all evening on the pleasant, professional & helpful demeanor of Karen’s team.

I had plenty of grand ideas of how I wanted my party to go including food representations from around the globe. I discussed them with Karen & Alisha every step of the way & they also gave me some great ideas as well. Karen & her team were very accommodating to my requests for last minute changes. Ugh I was even changing things down to the final week of the party & Karen was extremely patient & helpful.

The food was incredible! The décor exceeded my vision tenfold. Karen & Alisha were absolute delights to work with. I looked forward to meeting with them to review party plans. It felt like I was meeting with two girlfriends on a Friday night after work for Happy Hour! I can’t wait to use Karen Bevels Catering again! My company is excited to add a new caterer to the team. It was a great feeling after the party when everyone raved about the party staff & delicious food.

I have attended events catered by Karen Bevels and even had the honor to work with her (as photographer) and both experiences were simply amazing. Her food is a work of art, everything tastes and looks amazing. She is a bubbly lady with a very sweet disposition and I love taking the time to talk to her, she always has really interesting things to talk about. I look forward to hiring her for my next big events and highly recommend her to anyone who is hosting an event.

I recently attended an event for Karen Bevels Custom Catering and was instantly blown away by their presentation. The service staff all had smiles on their face, and there didn’t seem to be any stress in the room. My favorite thing that I ate was the lobster quesadilla, it was absolutely out of this world. I couldn’t help going back for more with extra guacamole. And the sangria was amazing, full of fruit and so flavorful. I have been to a couple of events where the catering and the food was a bonus to the event as a whole (where my friends and the time that we spent together was was the best part of the event), but I can honestly say that the this event was not like that. Don’t get me wrong, I had a blast with my friends and the evening was awesome, but at this event, the food and service were equally involved in me and my friend’s incredible night! YOU MUST HIRE HER!

This woman is an absolute genius. Her food is always good, and her staff is always professional. She has a fun attitude and works very hard to make sure that everything goes over without a hitch.

Karen is top notch professional. Her experience is in depth and her food is amazing. She recently catered my 100 guest wedding, and everyone went back for seconds and thirds. She has exquisite taste and her attention to detail is impeccable.

I stopped by Karen Bevels Café while passing through Hayward. The food was super. The use fresh, seasonal ingredients. The foccacia was house made as was the red pepper aioli on my sandwich. The service was friendly and the ambiance was casual.

Lunchtime in the Hayward business park used to be horrifying when I forget to pack a lunch to work. The options are generally greasy, bland, meh-​quality delis or fast food, or maybe the taco truck. Sometimes I’d skip lunch altogether for lack of anything I’d actually want to eat.
Then Karen Bevels opened. Oh wow my lunchtime world has been rocked.
Fresh organic greens, grilled-​to-​perfection meats, grilled-​to-​perfection vegetables, perfect foccacia, salads that make me drool a little just thinking of them, and daily specials like grilled salmon or coconut wings… all served up with *real* tableware if you dine in (I seriously dislike eating with plastic forks), or in recycled/​biodegradable packaging if you take it away with you.
Really, I’d be happy to eat the food served at Karen Bevel’s in any setting, not simply in a omg-​I-​forgot-​my-​lunch-​again-​need-​something-​now kinda way. And surprisingly, it is not really more expensive than the greasy-​spoon delis nearby — about $ 8 for a ridiculously good sandwich and salad.
