History

Established in 2012.

Though just established as a Limited Liability Corporation in 2012, DetroitGeek has been operating for over 30 years servicing Oakland and Macomb counties. As the owner of DetroitGeek, I have been servicing equipment for more than 35 years, either working for someone, or working for myself. Electronic Theory was my choice of vocation while still in High School in the 70’s and there I received 2 years of training. Next a year of training in the US ARMY and then taught Digital Theory and Boolean Algebra for our soldiers. Computers and Electronics always went together for me, and I designed audio circuits while working on some of the Mainframe computers of the late 70’s. Education is paramount — it establishes a foundation, and learning never stops. I ended up going formal with DetroitGeek LLC when I realized my age was starting to catch up with me, and this is what I want to do for retirement. I won’t have my brain grow old and stale — At the age of 53, I still study.

Meet the Business Owner

Jeff H.

Business Owner

Constant tinkerer as a youngster — had a hard time putting things back together which made my father quite angry. Self taught Electronic Theory in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Formal Electronic Classroom in the mid 70’s. Tutored students while in Electronic Vocational School. Taught Electronic and Digital Theory. All classes regarding electronics and computers — graduated Top of the Class. Developed Digital Theory course for the US ARMY with a PDP-8. Developed a networked suite of applications to monitor production and quality control in an industrial environment. Development also included a custom Accounting and Payroll system. Learned Air-robotics, and built prototype machinery to client specifications with my own logic controllers. Played many musical instruments since the early 70’s and learned Pro-Audio electronic repair, and eventually studio electronics. From DOS to Linux, I’ve done it. From Industrial apps to building a PC studio in your home. Yep — did that too.
