The customer service at this location has become completely pathetic in recent years, and today’s attempt to shop there has become the last. I entered this location this afternoon, as I had done several times before, to pick up some makeup on behalf of my mother. After wasting ten minutes before I could get the attention of their clerk, I was about to pay for the merchandise when she refused to take the credit card I was going to use to pay for the merchandise. The reason? The credit card happened to be my mother’s, not mine. In all the years I have been shopping at this location(and other stores), I have never been met with such resistance. Both their clerk and their store manager claimed that a «banking act» is to blame. Considering that I have done such transactions and errands for my mother in the past, at Boscov’s and other stores, this excuse I was given is a red herring at best, and complete bullshit to be perfectly honest. The clerk complained that she could«lose her job» if she took my mother’s credit card for the transaction. Apparently times have changed from when one could lose their job for NOT doing their job! Also apparently, the aphorism«The customer is always right» no longer holds true at Boscov’s. As I told both their clerk and their store manager this afternoon, if I wanted to get jerked off, I’d find a hooker somewhere downtown and only have to pay a tenth of what the sale their clerk refused would have come to. It is increasingly apparent that maybe Boscov’s would have been better off going out of business. I don’t know about the Hazleton location, but at least in the case of the Wilkes-Barre store, the Barnes & Noble next door could move in and be able to stock more culturally necessary and beneficial merchandise than the crap you have been peddling since Big Al took the stores back over.
