Alexander Valley Rv Park & Camp Ground

Just departed Alexander Valley RV Park after an extended stay over 2 months, I have been full-​timing it for the past 18 months, literally been from Maine to Miami, New Orleans, Corpus Christy to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and arrived here Healdsburg, CA, few months ago, Alexander Park RV campground is by far MY FAVORITE campground I’ve stayed at, I hated to leave, the staff from manager Lupi to the host Terry were the most accommodating people I met in 18 months of full-​timing, the campground is beautiful, sits along the Russian River, has a great little casino a few miles away and Alexander Valley offers free shuttle service to and from casino ²⁴⁄₇. great little on site store, cleanest bathrooms and showers I have seen at any campground. This is the heart of wine country, Sonoma County, beautiful Vineyards in every direction for miles and miles. This is my 1^st Unilocal review, I was soo impressed with the beauty and hospitality of the area and the staff here at Alexander Valley I wanted to let the world in on this amazing place, and I didn’t even mention that the small town of Healdsburg is only minutes away, a cool upscale lil town with great wine bars, shops, restaurants etc. Hated to leave but will definitely be back,

Unkept. Unmanaged. Store/​office never opened. Creepy host. Dirty showers and bathrooms. Who is Good Sam kidding?

Stayed in April 2016. Spent the day calling but no answer, so just drove in and parked. Found a camp host (nice enough fellow) and he got me taken care of. This is a great setting and was tidy.

We have spent the last two nights camping at this campground situated along the Russian River. We found it to be very quiet, well-​maintained, and clean. The Campground Host and manager were friendly and accommodating. It’s close proximity to Healdsburg and Santa Rosa is a big plus. We will definitely stay here again!

So it’s not amazing. The staff does clean. It’s not their fault. Sadly the visitors and campers don’t all take care of the bathrooms and camp ground. When we first go to our camp ground. It was great. Clean. As clean as can be for outdoor living :) they cleaned bathrooms every morning and night. But majority of campers weren’t keep it clean. I think what happens is people use toilet paper to flush toilet and shut doors to keep from touching germs. And instead of throwing the toilet paper that they use as gloves they just throw it on the ground. If the camp ground had trash cans down at the river that would probably help keep the river clean. But besides all this my family (husband and two sons) had an awesome time. We brought our own bbq to cook food and hung out at river on our river ray tubes the whole day. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights.

This campground could be so nice — if somebody took care of it. It is located right next to Russian River, but the sanitary facilities are beyond words and even after having pointed out that there was actual poop in the ladies’ bathrooms, the management didn’t bother to clean up the mess for the entire 4 days we stayed there. Plus, there are some really weird (long term) residents there, including some viral dogs I was really worried about.

If you want to camp and take your family swimming in filth this is the place to go! The river is so disgusting, there’s dirty diapers lettered on the beaches, human shit behind every other bush, trash left behind, broken chairs. When I asked the camp staff if they clean the beach in the mornings they said ‘that’s not our property’ but the reason there is trash is because of their over whelming amount of day use beach access. For the camping at $ 55per day thus is not worth it. Every since the River Rock tribe took over this campsite it has gone to shit. Don’t waste your money and family’s camping trip on this dump.

The place is unkept, bathrooms were discussing! They don’t enforce curfew! Loud music all night long! They allow too many tents in one space! Chicken bones for the dogs to get too! Would not recommend this place!

So let me just say Tim the Camp Host does a Excellent job trying to keep order at this horrible place, He was very nice and helpful. The campsites are stacked on top of each other with no marking of where they start or end. The Amount of people crammed into the areas was insane and way over crowded. The bathrooms were the most disgusting thing I have ever used, and I drive truck so Ive used some nasty ones. There was a layer of piss covering the floor and because Hispanics don’t flush the toilet paper it was stacked up in the stalls. Im not racist but out of 300+ people we were only a few white folks. The circus and polka music was going on all day until 10 at night. The music wasn’t even kept to a low volume it was cranked to 10. We did meet some nice people that said they were ashamed of how their people acted.
The river access was nice when we showed up it was beautiful, when we left it was littered with beer cans and diapers. Its sad because this used to be a decent spot to camp years ago. We came here 5 years ago and it was no where near this bad. We were told that they used to have security and maintenance but river rock owns it and they are not doing well.

The only reason this gets a 1 star was because of the camp host Tim was great. I will never go back to this campsite. The bathroom situation was appalling (there were piles of human feces on the bathroom floor) and the condition that the campers left the beach was a even worse, dirty diapers and trash all over the place along with people using the bushes as a bathroom. DONT DO IT. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO SPEND YOUR TIME AND MONEY! Unless you like loud non English speaking people and music.

Nice little place on the river. Staff is friendly. Unfortunately there’s day use and a dirt area I guess you could call it the bad part of town. I wouldn’t like to stay there. No problem with feeling safe. Lots of mosquitoes. Maybe because you’re right next to the river. Partial hookups but there is a dump, only 50 amp. Can’t handle big rigs.
The place would be much better they didn’t allow day use as those visitors pretty much take over. Otherwise it would be such a peaceful and tranquil little spot.
If we’re back in the area we will stay here again.

Tijuana has nothing over on this train wreck of a campground. During the week not so loud but disgusting in all aspects of physical appearance. on site manager is a pompess ass. unfriendly and who could blame him when Hundreds and hundreds of people and 200 cars crowd about 60 campsites… By Monday am it looked like what Woodstock looked like after the event… At least the half asleep half grumpy people who man the store and entrance grunt at you… This place owned by the Indian Casino and they don’t have a clue… The 22 RV sites were ok bit with no sewer made a dump or honey wagon dump necessary. We had no other option and I would be hard pressed to ever stay again. Unless you are desperate keep going down the road. I could never in clear conscience ever even suggest any sane person stay at this dump site.

We were there this past weekend with our camping club and we will not return. They overflowed the campground with more than 5 tents to a site and hundreds of people.
The sites and the beach have lots of trash even though I was told by management they pay someone to clean the beach. There was «mesh» everywhere in the ground which was a significant trip hazard. They must have had sod at one time, but it’s long gone.
I had to watch my dog carefully on walks as there was a LOT of food debris Like chicken and rib bones, hamburger meat all over the place.
Bathrooms need constant attention, road noise was impossible. I do not recommend this place!

Bad attitude on personal and not respect at all, bathrooms were shut down for 4hours because septic got over filled (they did not have anyone schedule to service them) the two security guys that were patrolling would have loud music on the white Ford Ranger pickup. All this happen on the weekend of 4^th of July 2014

Don’t even THINK about going here on weekends unless you’re into the heavy, noisy party scene. Booze, pot, loose dogs and raucous, tents-​upon-​tents was the norm from Friday afternoon until late Sunday.
The best thing to say about this place is its location: middle of the Alexander Valley Wine Country. The place is a free-​for-​all on weekends with huge, noisy parties, loose-​running dogs, loud music and no supervision. Vast numbers of people — as in hundreds — sharing one (1) toilet. Rubbish everywhere, dirt, dust… well, you get the idea. I’ve been in parks across the West and this ranks as one of the very worst. It was marginally better during the week as the hoards left late Sunday for home and, presumably, Monday work.
The second-​best thing — and only possible saving grace — is that the park lights are turned out sometime after 10−11PM. Then, things BEGIN to quiet down — a little.
If you do decide to venture into this Third World– like destination, bring your patience, earplugs and your own toilet.

The office closes at 1800 and I began calling at 1730 and never got in touch with anyone. I left messages and it was obvious they left early on a Wednesday. We met the after hours attendant around 1930 and he had clearly been drinking. His site had flies everywhere and if we hadn’t been so tired we would’ve pushed on. There was no sewer at your site. All sites are 50 amp only that we saw. You can dump as you leave but that’s not as convenient. No laundry (washer/​dryer) access either. For $ 50 a night pass it or stop earlier. There were people there past 2100 being loud on the day campers side as well. One plus, the site was level. We stopped because despite the bad reviews someone said they had no problems so we thought it might be better than the earlier reviews had said. We were wrong. No military or Good Sam discounts either.

We stayed here in our RV and it was a good base for visiting Healdsburg and wineries. The staff was helpful and friendly. The new RV area has strips of grass and is very well kept however we stayed in the older area as we prefer more mature trees. The bathrooms are a work in progress. My husband used the portable showers and said they are fine. We did not have a problem with noise. We would stay here again.

We stayed for two nights in September. Mostly to go bike riding, see the Sunset Idea house, and visit the town. We were not going to hang out at the campground all day — and this is one of the few campgrounds around. We have a nice Casita trailer and big dog — so camping is our favorite option. When we got there, they had just finished the landscaping in the RV section. There were a few tent campers by the river, but only two RVs in the pull through’s. The landscaping was literally JUST installed, meaning you could see the stripes of the grass rolls. They had JUST raked the gravel, and landscaping chips were in all the borders. It showed really really nice.
We selected a site, pretty private, as not many people were there, then took off to Healdsburg for dinner.
When we came back, a family of about 10 with three suburbans, and three huge tents were camped adjacent to our site. They do not care if tents take RV spots. These sites are pretty close together, so 10 people are a lot of people when it comes to an RV site. They family had kids from about 4 – 10, and they were busy as kids will be. Zero boundaries as kids will be, zero courtesy as parents will be, and in a campground with no rules — presents a real problem if you like to do things like go to sleep. Their camp fire and party went on until 1am — just 10 feet from our bedroom window. It was a disaster. Too late to move, no where to go, and no one in charge.
The worst thing for everyone else is that the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. We have a little porta potty, so did not have to frequent these toilets, but they were really really bad.
I asked the older gentleman camp host what the hell were they thinking not having clean bathrooms — and he blamed the guests, and said there were only three of them (all men), and they weren’t very good at cleaning. I told him a service was necessary, but he wandered off. Its too bad its so poorly managed and kept. It looked like they were really trying with the landscaping but our neighbors and those bathrooms were the line.
Next time we are in Healdsburg we may check in on it again, see if it improves, but i won’t hold my breath. Its a thin veil over a white trash beer tanked fog fighting belly rubbin crowd in their 20’s. Very Russian River.

Bring an adventurous crowd or one with no expectations.
Alternative options for staying in the Healdsburg/​Alexander Valley are all going to require huge amounts of cash, so buckle down and bring your friends and a bathing suit.
This is not the romantic camping weekend you imagined.
This is the place you bring your friends. Lots of them. Or your RV.
Situated right on the Russian River, there’s great access for swimming, post wine tour (or, in our case, biking through the Valley).
Bathroom situation was pretty grim, but not the worst I’ve seen.
Recommended for the big tasting/​passport weekends (Taste of Alexander Valley or Dry Creek Passport) as they hotels are $ 200 plus. Then again, if you want something plush, as one should expect in Healdsburg, then you may want to proceed with your reservation elsewhere.

Worst camp I have ever had.
Packed like sardines, poorly marked sites, people walking thru you and your site in mid sentance, third world bathrooms, rent a cop with no balls, manager who must think we are stupid. It should be rated in the negatives.
