Description

Specialties

Located in the Russian River Valley, just outside the town of Healdsburg, we are dedicated to producing handcrafted, balanced and age-worthy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from top vineyard sites throughout the Sonoma Coast.

We seek our grapes from the Western rocky shores of the Pacific Ocean all the way to San Francisco’s San Pablo Bay. Our single vineyard bottlings provide a window into each of the sub regions where our grapes are farmed.

Brought together, these vineyards elegantly compose our Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast wines. We welcome your visit for a guided, personal tasting.

History

Established in 1987.

Over the past three decades, MacRostie Winery and Vineyards has established itself as one of the Sonoma Coast’s defining wineries, and a leader in a bright, balanced and age-worthy style of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Where MacRostie has led – both stylistically and geographically – others have followed.

Today, MacRostie Winery and Vineyards is guided jointly by Sonoma County visionary and winery founder Steve MacRostie, and talented up-and-coming winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen, who are making the finest Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs in the winery’s history.

Using grapes farmed by legendary winegrowing families, MacRostie has assembled one of the Sonoma Coast’s most acclaimed and diverse vineyard programs. Made from a who’s who of vineyard-designate caliber sites, using as many as 130 fermentations each vintage, MacRostie’s Sonoma Coast wines have established themselves as benchmarks, offering a rare intersection between labor-intensive small-lot winemaking, fair pricing and complexity.

Meet the Business Owner

Steve M.

Business Owner

In 1974, Steve MacRostie made his first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir using grapes from areas that would today include the Sonoma Coast. Back then, there were only about 40 small wineries in Sonoma County. Now there are hundreds.

Where Steve helped lead, both geographically and stylistically, others have followed, making the Sonoma Coast one of the world’s great regions for making Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

With his relaxed charm, philosophical mind, adventurous spirit and encyclopedic knowledge of Sonoma County viticulture and winemaking, Steve is recognized as one of the region’s great pioneers, strongest advocates and most respected winemakers.
