Vineyard of Pasterick

I’ve been a big fan of this wine and I was really looking forward to a visit this weekend. I understand the need for a reservation for a tasting but it’s really unfortunate that there is no flexibility around this policy. I even told them that I just wanted to buy a case of wine and be on my way since I love their Syrahs a lot. Hopefully you can show some flexibility around letting people purchase wine w/​o the need of a reservation in the future. It makes your fans feel unappreciated because you do not want their business.

Most Napa and Sonoma wineries have become quite touristy and boring. Do you really want to hear some saleslady drone on about why you should join the wine club over the roar of some bachelorette group whose limo has landed there? The antidote is to seek out smaller appointment-​only wineries that actually care about making good wine. Pasterick is a great example. The proprietor Gerry is a charming guy who will take the time to educate you rather than give you some canned sales pitch. His Cave is lovely and the wines are good. Make an appointment — it will restore your faith in wine country and perhaps even humanity!

We stopped her with 3 of my friends, and it was our favorite winery by far of the trip! Gerry spent over 2 hours with us, giving us a very personal tour. The wine was wonderful, and we got to try 2 different vintages. We learned so much about wine making as well. I joined the wine club and can’t wait to taste the wine again!

My family stopped here on a recent visit to Sonoma and it was one of the highlights of our trip! We had called ahead to make an appointment for a tour and tasting based on a write up we saw of the winery in Back Lane Wineries of Sonoma.
We were greeted by the owner, Gerry, who was a friendly, gracious host. His tour started outside in the vineyard, where he gave us a history of the land and the vineyard. We then continued into the wine cave where he told us about his wine-​making process and where were sampled one of his bottles of Syrah. Before leaving, we joined the wine club (something we don’t do often)…and now can’t wait until the next release!
I love visiting the smaller wineries, and this was one of the best experiences I have had in either Sonoma or Napa.

Visiting Vineyard of Pasterick is the antithesis of visiting the big wineries in Napa. No gift shop, no lines, rustic, passion vs profit, sincerity, one wine, owners who instantly become friends.
I can’t say enough about Gerry and his wife. Gerry and I drank almost a bottle for our «tasting» while we sat in his barn chatting about wine, family, traditions.
Eight months later we returned with two couple friends and Gerry and the Teldeschi’s of Del Carlo hosted us for lunch, wine, a walk of the vineyard, and then a game of Pétanque (french bocce) back at Pasterick’s.
I wish I could give 10 stars… these people are phenomenal. Oh yeah… the wine… it’s fantastic. Gerry’s syrah is a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ blend of grapes from his two vineyards, each with two very different types of soils. If I remember correctly, one is ancient seabed and the other is volcanic, not sure. But hearing him tell the story of how he has the back down the hill on his knees due to the steep grade is interesting, especially when you are in their wine cave enjoying a glass of his pride and joy.

Pasterick produces one of the best Syrah I’ve tried — but that’s not the reason to visit the vineyard. People at Pasterick are truly amazing, one-​of-​a-​kind — they greet you like old friends, and you leave feeling like your family just got extended.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, my boyfriend and I went to check out what was described as, «a really cute couple who make some delicious wine». The syrah they produce was fantastic. Gerry Pasterick, the vintner, entertained us for 2 hours. We played with his cat in the barn, tasted the 2003 syrah and then headed to the wine caves to taste the 2004. You can tell how much the Pastericks love what they do and the special attention was appreciated.

This is a very small, private winery. The Pastericks are super friendly and will share the history of the property and their wine with you. They grow all of their own grapes and only produce one type of wine, Syrah, which is pretty tasty. Tasting is $ 10. They basically just pour you a glass of wine to drink while you walk around and tour the grounds. The 2003 is currently being sold and it is from their 3^rd year of production. It has big flavors and is worth the $ 38 for a bottle. It’s a fun little place to stop at and a very personal experience when you visit them.
