We love it. The atmosphere is family friendly. The salsas & dips are yummy. The food is really good ~ and the price is right. Try the frozen peach margarita. It’s delicious!

I’ve come here about 5 times and waited to make this review to see if this could truly be the neighborhood gem I so wanted it to be. The beef fajitas are not stringy(that’s the good thing). They, however, are not very eventful either; no spice, ordinary fare, catering to suburbanites who maybe never had really good Mexican food. The bad things: a pitcher of their margaritas tastes like green kool aid and has close to zero alcohol, better to get a beer here as its a waste of $ to let them mix your drink. What a shame, they don’t even know what ginger ale is, they have no knowledge of Mexican spice blends(all dishes I’ve had are beyond boring, even Camarones Diabla). This could have been a really good bar/restaurant for me as I live close enough to walk and margaritas and authentic Mexican food in this neighborhood are scarce — but I’ll pass. These folks don’t care about your experience, sadly they just want to make a quick buck off of the gringos who don’t know better. I am sad to write this…

My husband and I were visiting friends and we stopped here after a hike. Salsa was out of this world! the queso and bean dip were delicious! We are from NY and we were skeptical in eating Mexican in AL. But we were pleasantly surprised ! I had the chicken quesadilla and my husband had the huevos rancheros he didn’t like his but mine was great! definitely a neighborhood gem!

This location is now EL Patron. This is a good location in Helena, but since the little small town market closed several years ago this location has been a number of different restaturants. The food we had this past weekend was pretty good. The service was severely lacking! The food quality may be a little better, but poor service will cause customers to go to the competition.

«Had better good at the ballgame.» I assume people come here for the decorations cause the food is bland, limited to 1 salsa. Been here twice to give them a chance. Other mexican restaurant’s at least give you lots of chips and salsa, also season their food. Salsa they bring is about ¾ of an inch full. About 20 chips worth. The plus side is they give you 3 different dips.

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Helena. Before I would have to drive 20 minutes to get good Mexican Food. Now it’s practically in my back yard. I love the steak dishes. I usually don’t like steak at most Mexican Restaurants because of the lower cut of meat or it’s not tenderized. I can tell the difference at El Patron as the steak melts in my mouth. Be sure to be willing to wait for a table expecially on Friday nights. This is one of the only restaurants in Helena that always is crowded.
