B Daddy’s BBQ

Food is great! More expensive than other BBQ restaurants, but worth it. Just know that you will be given butcher paper to eat on, not plates.
My one complaint is the customer service. The first time we went was on a Sunday and the attitude of the workers is like «take it or leave it», no welcome, no suggestions for what to order for a family (we have 3 kids), just «what do you want».
We tried to call to get a to-​go order and were told «we have lines wrapped around the building so we are not taking to-​go orders». Needless to say, we went elsewhere. My suggestion to the owner is that better training on customer service needs to happen if you expect repeat customers. I don’t care how good the food is, if I’m treated poorly, i.e. with a take it or leave it attitude, I will tell my friends.
FYI there are only 2 high chairs in the whole restaurant, and the inside seating is tiny. Expect it to be busy and crowded.

Went to B-Daddy’s for the first time today. When we walked in we felt very comfortable. Employees were very welcoming and friendly. I order the turkey sandwich on the jalapeño cheddar bun. mmmm mmmmm mmmmm oh so good! Side dishes — cream corn with jalapeño, just enough heat. Enjoyed the red wine cole slaw, crisp and flavorful. The mac N cheese is soooo good! Very creamy and cheesy! Hubby ordered the brisket lean, the rub and smoke was perfect. Tender and juicy! B-​Daddy sauce is awesome! Very relaxing afternoon.

First time there will be back!
The chopped brisket was a tad dry but sliced was great. I ordered the b daddy sandwich and it fed me twice not bad for a $ 10 sandwich.
The jalapeño cream corn was excellent as was the potato salad.
The service was excellent very polite and courteous. However I did have to wait for what seemed like a long time but was worth the wait.

A little confusing to order and settle in, but the staff are really helpful and this is very good food. Our group went for brisket, pulled pork and turkey. Everyone thought the meat was great. Small negative was size of sides. Pretty small for individual servings for sure. Good place and we will go back!

First to be featured for day one of meat week in San Antonio. This place is located in Old Helotes with tons of southern charm and old rural feel. They had a back outdoor patio with live music. It was to warm to be out there today and I noticed a lot of flies so we opted to stay indoors. We were waiting for all our friends to arrive because the event didn’t officially begin until 2:30pm. The staff seemed apprehensive and nervous. I ordered a sweet tea at the far end register. The cashier had a really bad attitude. I also noticed all the available tables were dirty. There was at least five people standing behind the counter with no customers in line. My husband had to go ask if we could get a table wiped up. I was disappointed at the lack of customer service and warmth from the employees here.
Let’s talk FOOD– we ordered the ribs, sausage, brisket, creamed corn, spicy coleslaw and regular coleslaw. The food is market style so you order by weight of each individual meat per lb.
The BBQ actually had fantastic flavor I especially like the ribs because they fell right off the bone. The brisket was also very tender and smoky, it fell apart with just a nudge of the fork. The sausage was my husbands favorite but I wasn’t all that impressed it had a very peppery taste and was a little dry. The creamed corn is delicious. Cole slaw lacked flavor the spicy version tasted much better and had the right amount of sauce. They have BBQ sauce at the station with the utensils. The BBQ sauce is subjective because everyone has their own style of sauce they prefer try it for yourself.
Bottom line– location, style and food was was great but I was unimpressed and quite frankly disappointed with lack of customer service. We gave a tip at the register but quite frankly not sure why because I cleaned my own tray, got my own refills and we had to initially ask twice for someone to wipe up our table before we sat down. I’m not in any rush to come back.

My husband & I stopped in here for a quick lunch date and really enjoyed it! We tried the brisket, turkey, sausage, Mac and cheese, jalapeño cream cheese corn and the spicy coleslaw. Loved everything we tried, and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Gonna give it five stars because of the remarkable BBQ and fun atmosphere and NOT deduct one for its potato salad side; the only miss on the menu. Needs something guys!

Awesome ribs and sides!!! I’m always craving a pulled pork sandwich from this gem! Way to go on great barbecue!!!

We’ll keep looking… The brisket was good, although I forgot to ask and they forgot to ask — I like my brisket lean and what I got was the end of the meat — so almost all fat. The pulled pork was good — I put a lot of their sauce on it (sauce was mild, defnitely good!). I like the cream corn, but my husband doesn’t like hot, so he was left without much choices — both the coleslaw and the creamed corn only come in the heated variety.
The main downside was you had to walk all around their ramp, just to get inside. We parked at what we thought was the entrance (on Old Bandera Road) — nope — it was way on the other side. Oh well. Busbee’s is better (in Bandera), and the Floor Country Store is next door.

My sister, niece, and I stopped in here after we took a walk around Old Helotes– smiles and friendly staff took our order and answered our questions. We ended up choosing the full rack baby back ribs, mac n cheese, beans, and coleslaw. It was amazing!!! Ribs were moist and fell off the bone with a breath and the rest of our choices didn’t disappoint, capturing the home cooking non-​chain BBQ experience we were craving :) I’m sad that I live in Alaska and can’t visit more! My sister is lucky enough to be a local of Helotes and swears this is her «New BBQ Place»!

Saw the place and tried it. The brisket sandwich was great. Had the jalapeño creamed corn as a side. Also, quite good.
It will be a place to go on this side of town.

Absolutely the best BBQ in town hands down! Not a single item on the menu I wouldn’t order, I’ve had it all! If I had to pick a favorite, the pulled pork tacos with spicy slaw and jalapeño cream corn are the best!!!

Amazing sliced brisket sandwich! Mac and cheese is good, coke slaw is average. Overall the sandwich keeps me coming back. Looking forward to restaurant opening.

DELICIOUS FOOD!!! Everything was on point, I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich, Mac & cheese, potato salad, nice white bun. I like that the condiment (pickles, onions, jalapeños) were on the self service side cause I’m the customer that asked for extras this way I was able to slather all the pickles I wanted. Recommend a sweet tea option to seal the deal.

BR and his crew know their bbq, pulled pork is legit! Ribs are good, brisket is always good, spicy slaw. great food made by great people

Literally the best BBQ I’ve ever had! & I’m a BBQ snob! I got the pulled pork sandwich with jalapeño bun, jalapeño cream corn & the spicy slaw… like spicy heaven! I keep craving this food truck! Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

BEST BBQ EVER! Hands down. I dream of b daddy’s and count down the days until they come to my neighborhood. I love you b daddy so much.
Brisket, and all the meats are perfection. You can’t go wrong here.

Plain and simple BR and B Daddy’s is a Top 5 BBQ in San Antonio for me.
The brisket is always spot on, the ribs come clean off the bone, and the sides are spot on.

This place is totally awesome. It seems they are permanently parked at «The Block» now. The best value on their menu and in the park is the three brisket or pork tacos for $ 6.00
Served on corn tortillas and topped with a spicy cole slaw, you just can’t go wrong.
I’m dying to try their baby back ribs but they never seem to have them when I am there. Oh well, «try and try again» is my motto. I will not give up!
UPDATE — 10÷26÷13 — we showed up around noon time on Saturday and guess what! They had the ribs available. These are baby back ribs, very tender, lean, and tasty! I have found my new plate at B Daddy’s now!
