This place is a scam, When I took my vehicle for smog it failed because I recently done 02sensor, they assumed I tried to reset engine light which was not the case and the heavy set older lady tried to pull my keys away like If she thought she was keeping my vehicle if I did not pay for their b.s. service. They were so kind! He could have taken my money and then told me my car would fail. Instead he was very forthright in telling me that since my check engine light would not stay on, it would automatically fail. I will definitely go back after I get my check engine light situation squared away.

This used to be my go to shop. Now it appears that they have changed owners and people are having nothing but problems. The worst part is that I sent my mom here and told her it was a great place. Her car failed here but passed no problem at another place. Now that I’m looking into it, many people (not just on Unilocal) that they have had a negative experience here. Be warned.

I have noticed all the reviews are vehicles that failed and people wanted the fail for free? It’s state procedure.

My car failed the smog test at another station, so I brought it to Valley Smog for retest and repair. The mechanic, Jonathan, was so knowledgeable and courteous. He accommodated my schedule even to the point of staying past closing so that I could get there. He worked with my car and corrected the engine light problem after the part was installed. I am totally impressed and highly recommend this smog station, mainly due to Jonathan and his professionalism. Thanks so much!

My wife and I have used this business for years, but the last 2 visits have been very disappointing… I thought I would give them another try as everyone deserves another chance. After I failed the test, I immediately went to my mechanic and he told me that almost all of the customers he has with a fail come from this testing station. He advised me that when there is a check engine light on your dash, it is an automatic fail, and they just wanted to take my money by doing the test anyway. I think this is poor customer service of a long time loyal client and I will no longer be using this business… and I will advise all of my friends to also avoid this business.

A+ guys!!! –When it’s time to get my car smogged, I always come to this place. Wait time is usually less than a half an hour, they have an nice little waiting room, and the front staff is extremely nice and friendly. They make you feel appreciated for being their customer. Which is such a great feeling and almost rare anymore, because a lot of businesses I seem to go to lately treat me like I’m an inconvenience! They always have a coupon available on their website or in the Pennysaver too, so that helps save you a little money. I recommend Valley Smog to everyone I know!

Not a good experience. This guy went nuts because he failed my car and I got it to pass at the station across the street at the DMV. The car had been sitting and so it didn’t pass. I took it across the street and it passed no problem. I asked him for a refund and he has since been a nutcase. He has threatened to report me and my car to the BAR. He is trying to put a question mark over my head and scare me from writing a review. The idea of my car being taken away is supposed to stop me. Ummmmm… Nope. I actually did delete my review but I found another message from him and so I’m posting it again. This is my experience. I’m sure it’s a rare one but this is my experience.
Rick, do NOT send me another message. If you send me another message I will sue you for harassment. If you want this review deleted then send me my refund for the smog.

Reasonable prices. Friendly and professional staff. Not to mention very honest! I left a personal item behind which could have turned into an expensive day for me had it not been for the staff who kept it safe until I returned.

Approximately two weeks ago I brought my 2003 Hyundai Sonota in for a mandatory smog check. From the beginning, and until the end I was very satisfied. The receptionist was very courteous and prompt. The mechanic was also very nice and willing to answer any of my questions. The price is great, the staff is great; can’t beat them! Thank you for your business.

For many years i have used Valley Smog without a problem. This is my latest experience. 98 dodge caravan went to them in September and failed. Replaced the cat and retested… passed with flying colors. now on a return because of van being sold its being tested again emissions passed no problem, but it failed because they could not read the numbers on the cat. Took it back to shop that put the cat on and verified the numbers could be read. it was hard but they were there. Had the shop turn the cat to make them more visible.
went back to Valley Smog and told them my findings, and they want to charge me again for something they should have done right the first time. I explained to them that the last time they tested it that they could read the numbers but this time they couldn’t??? Didn’t make sense to me.
upon leaving (no test done) the owner comes out and trys to explain it away stating the cat could have been changed again and that it was my fault. First off… why would i want to spend another $ 300 changing a cat that had just been changed 3000 miles ago. Second… Why could they read it the first time but not now? (did they not do there job last time?)
If they would have done their research like i asked them to do, they would have seen everything checked out, but they didn’t and have now lost a customer.
With all the smog shops in town (most have lower prices) i would think you would want to keep customers who are loyal.

Went in with check engine light on and didn’t think about it not passing. It is an automatic FAIL with the light on. When the technician was questioned why test it when he knew it would fail he said, «you told me to test it.» Shady way to make a buck. Looks like common practice for them, have seen 3 other reviews stating the same. Stay away.

While my experience at this place was over all fine, the out come was not. All the employees it had contact with were pleasant and courteous, the results were not and left a bad taste in my mouth.
I took my 92 Honda Civic in with all expectations that it would fail. It’s over 20 years old after all. The place was empty and service was fast. Now this poor car as a slight idling problem, she idles at 1000rpm instead if the normal 750rpm. When the lady at the front desk told me the car failed, I assumed it was due to being an old car with a lot of use. Turns out, the tech couldn’t get a reading on the timing due to high RPMs. Fair enough. So I took my car to my local mechanic and asked him to look at the results. Before even looking at the paper, he asked «Your took it to the place across from the DMV didn’t you?»
He said the car was putting out less emissions than some newer cars, and said there is no reason the timing couldn’t be read. He gave me the name of another test facility. After getting the car to the other test station, they hooked it up, got a timing read and passed my car. I was informed that this wasn’t the first time they had done a second «opinion» on a car that had just come from this test station.
I don’t know if it’s shady business or incompetent techs, but I won’t be bringing my car back here and anyone I know won’t be going there either.

Great, fast and efficient service. Great prices. Nice, clean shop and office, friendly staff. In and out in 15 min. Smog tested 2 of my diesel trucks.

These guys are great. They do their job and smog your car. They tell you why it failed if it failed. I don’t understand how people can complain about their car not passing, you know driving up whether it will pass or fail… It is not rocket science. They do their job and they do it well. If you want someone to lie to the state emissions board don’t go here because they are honest people.

I needed to get a smog test for my car — so I googled «hemet smog test» and this place was the very first result. I intended to look at several places and compare prices, before deciding — but this place had a coupon on their site for $ 32.75 plus $ 8.25 for certificate of compliance and $ 3 for ETF. It was such a good deal, and so much lower than I was expecting to pay, I drove right over!
I arrived at 4PM without an appointment, and they took me right in. I was there less than 30 minutes total — quick and painless and inexpensive. And the staff was polite and helpful.
Will definitely go there again — and tell my friends and family!

I cruised right into this place due to the proximity to the DMV and it looked nice. I brought my new truck in to get it smogged right before getting it registered. hoping to get these two errands done in a timely manner on my only day off. I drop my keys off, being told it would be $ 66 and a 40 minute wait. I know there is nothing at all wrong with my vehicle and was very confident in coming back to a problem free «Pass.» As soon as I return I am welcomed by a woman that informs me I FAILED. I was really confused and asked why? She told me my air intake was not carb legal or something along those lines.
Now, first of all let me explain my truck. I have a very nice 2003 Silverado 2500HD 4×4 with a total of 9 inches of lift. It’s a beast. The intake in question is a K&N Cold Air Intake, which is 50 state legal, any emissions establishment should know this first hand. When I tried to explain this I was immediately given attitude by this older gentleman and the receptionist that all cold air intakes are illegal without a sticker. I then proceeded to tell them that there IS in fact a sticker near the filter, just where it is supposed to be. They didn’t believe me and said they didn’t see one. I told the guy to follow me outside to go see. He told me to show the tech, not him (still giving me attitude). I went outside the tech was busy so I told the old man who followed me anyway to grab a step stool or ladder to go check, as this is a lifted truck, one can’t simply look down into my engine from the ground unless you are like 7 feet tall.
It became immediately clear that the workers just stood on their tippy toes to check for a sticker, didn’t see one, and failed me. Even with a nice step stool readily available. Even my wife who is much shorter than me could see it visibly though on her tippy toes. I pointed it out to them, then they began to accuse me of hiding it and not making it visible when it clearly was, just not from your tippy toes, what are they, children? I have a picture to share with anyone interested. They began to get irritated that they would have to run the test again, as if it was ME that was inconveniencing THEM, when I am the one off the clock on my day off trying to get things done. It was their own laziness, not wanting to step on a stool to check for a sticker on a big lifted truck. I told them to run the test again and that I am not paying for it twice.
With the stool now available, they refused to use it and claimed they couldn’t see the carb number. I used my iPhone to snap a pic and they used that as their reference to look up on the computer. Then conveniently they ran the truck again and it only took like 3 – 4 minutes this time. All the way to the end I was getting these insulting comments about how I should let them know where the sticker is next time, and to make it more visible. I even overheard the old man telling another customer he runs a website that gives tips on how to pass emissions. Maybe he should add, «Tell the workers to do what they are supposed to do anyway, just in case they get lazy and don’t want to use a stool to check for your sticker then sass you out the door.» Please use the place across the street, or any other place, especially if you have a lifted truck. This entire review is %100 factual. I am a very nice guy, the fact that I was treated like scum made me livid, but I did my best to keep my calm.
Also, when I hoped back in my truck, there was a random broken plastic piece from my truck sitting on the floor that I did not recognize, I jumped back out to ask about it, when I walked up they all silenced, obviously talking about me as I was leaving, the guy just said «oh, that was already there.“I know my truck inside and out, and there are no random busted parts laying on my floor.

I brought my 2003 Mazda Protégé 3 in here for a Smog Check recently while on a lunch break. I sat there for 30 minutes and was then told it failed. When I asked why, if it was emissions, etc. the lady behind the counter, said oh no, your emissions were fine, your engine light was on and it failed due to an engine code. When I explained that I have had that code cleared, the work that was needed to repair it, etc. The man behind the counter, started to argue with me, saying clearing it, and fixing it are two things. I have had the same code pop up for over three years in my car, its a technical glitch. Regardless, and this is just my personal opinion, if you ALREADY KNOW my car is going to fail due to the check engine light being on, it is RIGHT THERE, why not be courteous and let me know it will fail automatically before charging me $ 50.00 and please do not add insult to injury by arguing with me in front of other customers and trying to make me look stupid.
Will not be back and will not recommend this establishment in the future.
