Above the Rest Tile & Flooring

Not impressed. My husband and I wanted to have the carpet taken out of our house and tile put down. I had originally tried to get this done with Butch, but was told that he had a big job in Hawaii and they were going to squeeze me in before they left. The day before they were to come, Butch calls and said he was on his way back to Hawaii and that he was going to send one of his guys (Jaime) out to do the job.
They were supposed to arrive at around 8:00 am, but called at 8:40 to ask for directions. When they finally arrived at 11:30 am, all they did was pull out the carpet and they were gone for the day by 2:00 pm.
They finally showed up on time the next day.
I was told this was only going to be a 2 to 3 day job, so that’s all the time I had scheduled to be off work. It ended up taking 5 days.
The grout I bought needed to have the color and sealer added to it. I explained EXACTLY how much of each was to be added, but when they finished, they had not used the correct amount of sealer.
Once they were done and we were allowed to walk on the tile, that’s when the real issues started. Many of the tiles were not level and some of them made noise when you walked on them.
I called Butch to have this problem taken care of, and he sent Jaime back out a week or so later. Jaime came out and replaced the tiles that made noise, but only put more grout around the ones that were uneven. This did not fix the problem.
It then took many phone calls and over a month to get Butch to come out and see the floor. It is still uneven. butch asked us what we thought the correction should be, and we told him they needed to rip the entire floor out and level it. He said he was not going to do that. He had bought 24 tiles and he replaced 24 of the bad ones, but he said that was all he was going to do. He said he would come back AFTER the holidays (we’re into 2 to 2 ½ months since this was done now) and fill in some grout if we wanted.
They keep telling me the floor is not level because I bought rectified tile. I had no idea what that was when I was looking for tile. If that was really the problem, why didn’t they tell me to stay away from that when they came for the quote.
Butch thinks we need to go after Jaime to fix this problem. I’m sorry, but I hired Above the Rest Tile to do the job. When Butch sent Jaime, I assumed (and I know that’s bad) that he represented Above the Rest Tile and that if their was a problem, the company would make it right. Now I’m being told that’s not the case, and they won’t fix it.
Save yourself the grief, hire someone else!

I would highly recommend Butch and his outstanding crew for your flooring needs! He calls when proomised, arrives as promised and does an excellent job. We had porcelain wood-​look tile laid in about 1000 square feet of our home. They tore out existing tile, laid the new and then cleaned well afterward. You don’t need to call anyone else!

Above the Rest did our ceramic tiling in a quick, but professional way. Butch and his workers were impressive in every detail of this job. They are reasonably priced, competitive, and eager to please. We felt like they were placing the tile in their own homes. They were attentive to our suggestions, finished the job earlier than expected, cleaned up, and fulfilled our expectations. We would definitely refer them to anyone wanting superior craftsmanship in their homes! It was refreshing to find someone this reliable in our town, as our other dealings were less than admirable. Use this company and you won’t be disappointed.
