This review is for Judi, the skin care treatment specialist, only. She is nearly impossible to reach. I had to leave four messages and I still did not get a call back until nearly a week after my first message. I clearly stated the date & time I would like to make an appointment & asked her to call me back to just let me know if that was available. When did she call back? Five hours after the appointment time I was requesting. Unbelievable. I even called the front office staff to find out if she was on vacation. She wasn’t. She was there every time I called. Don’t go to her. Apparently, she doesn’t need your money & customers are just an annoying afterthought.

Dr Samlaska is absolutely amazing! He’s extremely attentive and through. If you ask questions you get intelligent, knowledge based answers. The services is fast, I actually see the Dr at or close to my appointment time. How many people can actually say that about a Dr?! I know a lot of friends that also use Dr Samlaska and are extremely thrilled! I would recommend him to anyone that asks.

Terrible bedside manner for a doctor of Dermatology who prides himself in good patient care. Spends as little time with you as a new patient as possible and even less time as established patients; its in his best interests to get as many patients seen as quickly as possible with little to no questions asked. He doesn’t show concern for medicines where you’ve had allergies in the past; if your concerned about a new med he expresses that it would be better to take it and deal with the allergic reaction later than to not take the drug he gives you to get rid of what ails you now resulting in bad medical advice and possibly putting the patient at risk with a probable visit to the hospital. In my case I had to get 2 opinions to make doubly sure the meds he prescribed me didn’t have anything to do with a drug reaction I’ve been hospitalized for in the past for when I asked him he showed no remorse. Since this post I’ve chosen a more qualified better bedside mannered doctor who cares about cross-​contamination and allergic reactions.

You’ll end up seeing a PA but while paying for a doctor. Expensive, even with insurance. Tried a couple of times to schedule with Judi Hynds, their «Director of Skin Care Treatments,» but she never returns phone calls. (Ironically, the PA even told me I would need to keep trying.) Why should I bother when it’s obvious she doesn’t want the business? Avoid.

First time patient. Doctor is visual. Will look at your skin and make a diagnosis based off what you can find on Google. Doesn’t evaluate skin with light or up close. Doesn’t think outside the box of what something could be. Would not recommend and will not go back. Bedside manner was in poor taste. Tone was stern, straight forward, direct answers, with no compassion or respect for patients thoughts.
Recommended medicine that’s sold at Doctors office not covered by insurance. I’m searching for another Derm.

AMAZING office! I was previously driving all the way to Summerlin & I’m SO thankful I found this office! It was very easy to make an appointment & the woman scheduling the appointment was very friendly & professional. The wait time on appointment day was minimal. I saw a younger gentleman I want to say a P.A. But anyways, he was very polite. My husband & I would recommend Academic Dermatology of Nevada!

I met Dr Samlaska in early January of 2015. I went to him because I have quite a few moles and I need frequent skin checks. He finished up with my body check and said all good except one tiny spot on the bottom of my right foot. He said lets just doubt check this mole with a simple shave biopsy. No problem I said and he took it off with no pain what so ever. Three days later I get a call from him saying it was a MELANOMA cancer. Obviously scared to death now, he reassures me they caught it extremely early and the cure rate is over 95%. It was stage 1a. Without his keen eye and experience this would have spread to a stage that wasn’t curable. He truly Saved my life that day and I will be forever grateful. His bedside manner is second to none, so approachable and kind. He actually spends time with his patients and doesn’t try to fit in five patients an hour like some doctors do. His staff is wonderful too and they really care about the patients and the patients family. If you are looking for a great Dermatologist look no farther. He is the BEST.

I understand that dermatologic issues can be a hit or miss, but I feel like this office has really taken me for a ride. I came in originally with some sort of skin infection. I didn’t get to see the doctor, but a PA, which is fine. But she refused to listen to me at all when she diagnosed me with eczema, and I told her that with my history and previous symptoms (without getting too graphic haha), it seems like it’s infected. She said no, just eczema and gave me an rx for a steroid lotion and told me to stop taking hot showers. Needless to say, weeks later, the symptoms are still there and have gotten worse. I come back and see the doctor this time. He says, «Oh no, it’s infected.» And gives me 2 rounds of antibiotics. I follow up again after symptoms have gotten a little better but have not significantly improved. He diagnoses me again with eczema and just tells me to continue using the steroid lotion. One month later I come back and it’s gotten worse again. He takes a look at me and goes, «Well what do YOU think it is?!» and then makes some diagnosis on the fly just to get me out of the office: folliculitis. Dude, I’m a pharmacist, not a dermatologist. That’s why I’m paying you $ 60 per visit copay for. Four visits in and over $ 200 later, I would have hoped for a resolution by now. I’ve wasted a significant amount of time, money, stress, and effort on this office. I should’ve gone with my gut and gotten a second opinion :(

Horrible customer service, zero human kindness or concern for truly helping people. The person that answered was very short very quick to get me off the phone never informed me who I was going to be seen by .My appointment was June 5^th at 2:45pm. I came in at 2 o’clock knowing that I would need to fill out paperwork. I think the same person at the front desk was on the phone. Same lady had to get another coworker to help me because she was talking over me and I couldn’t explain this could have been more simple if she would just listen rather than talking over me. I also understand the doctors are not providing free services. I’m going to have to prove insurance coverage and clearly the biggest concern is verifying that you have insurance. Once the employee finally confirmed I had insurance and they will get paid. The employee still wasn’t sure if my insurance would cover everything and expressed her concern about me having to pay a big bill and being upset later. I made her aware that I would pay my bill no matter the cost whether or not my insurance would pay for it she was more comfortable and moved me on next step .As you can imagine I would have been fine paying a thousand at this visit just to be reassured that I don’t have cancer. Finally I was sent to the back into a room to go see a doctor. Both me and my husband go back into the room and I tell my husband I’m excited to see the doctor even though this whole experience has been awful I’m hoping the doctor is much better. The door opens another employee comes in another woman does not look at me does not say hello does not say her name. She sits down at a computer her back towards me and began asking me questions rapidly. I had to have her repeat herself. If I do recall her first question was about being referred to them, by who, her name next question was you’re going to see Kristen so I asked if Kristen was a doctor. I don’t know who that person is. I wasn’t sure she never said anything she didn’t say hello what her name was. Once I asked who was Kristen and if she was a doctor she said no, she is the practitioner. She asked rudly is that a problem? well weren’t you told when you made your appointment? I said to her: actually No nobody told me and so far this has not been a very pleasant experience she turns around with a smirk on her face and says oh. I told her that the customer service skills are awful beginning with her walking into the room not even looking at me in the face saying her name or asking me how I’m doing and begins to drill me with questions. Her response was well I was going to get to that! really? Too late. No class awful. I walked out. I just could not take this situation any longer obviously they’re not concerned with helping people you’re just another number as I walked out and told the one employee who is somewhat decent thank you that I was leaving because their customer service was awful the person that was in the room with us was laughing and thought that the situation was funny. I hope to god no one ever goes through something like this. I never got to see a doctor but with the kind of people they have in this office, I would never return. I guess if they truly cared to help people someone would have called me from the office or would have stopped me on my way out and asked me what was wrong but all they did was laugh and I could hear them as I was walking out. Very unprofessional. I have never made a complaint but this needs to be shared. People you have options medical services are not free and I’m sure other practices deserve your money more than these people.

If I could rate this place a zero star I would. Where do I start? I went to establish a new doctor here in Nevada and it has been a nightmare. I just moved here a year and a half ago and I have been seeing my doctor out of state for the past 10 years and explained to this new doctor what I took what I was on and what helped for my psoriatic situation. The doctor first off gives me an expired co pay assistance card for
The medication i was prescribed. Then it takes over a week for the doctor to even submit the correct documents to insurance for them to even process the prescription. When I was in the office I specifically stated what medicine worked correctly and how I took it. The doctor told me he would prescribe it that way and then I find out later he lied to my face and wrote the prescription a whole different way of nothing I took and what does not help me. I don’t appreciate being lied to directly to my face. If he did not feel comfortable writing the prescription for my psoriasis at the dosage I normally take he should have told me, not lied to me. I will not be following up with my next scheduled office visit and will continue to fly out of state to see my doctor because the doctors here obviously do not care about my situation and what I have been dealing with for over 10 years of my life. Just sad!

I drive the extra 20 minutes from Summerlin because these guys are so awesome! They always return calls immediately (unlike most doctor’s offices) and work hard to help their patients as much as possible. They will devote as much time as needed (and even schedule an emergency appointment if necessary) without trying to shuffle patients along.

I work in F&B and wash my hands constantly and basically wears latex gloves nearly 7 hours a day when I am at work. Over time, I have developed eczema that was getting to be painful when my hands get too dried and it cracks. Yeah, gross.
So with the help of one of my Unilocal friend and RN, an appointment was made and I showed up for my first office visit within a week of calling. This was a huge plus already compared to another dermatologist I tried to book an appointment with, with first available appointment at least 3 weeks out! Since I am a new patient, a certain amount of paperwork had to be filled out (I recommend printing out the forms at home and filling it out before your appointment or simply show up earlier).
Once the paperwork formalities have been completed and insurance information collected, I was escorted to one of two rooms to await the PA that gathers the initial information on the computer before the dermatologist shows up. Even though I knew my skin irritation was most likely nothing to severe, I still had some anxiety about it. But my doctor was great. She took a look at it, asked me a few questions, and provided her diagnosis and prescription to a nearby pharmacy (literally just a few minutes away on the other side of the road). I was even given a promotional coupon for the pharmacy that gave new referral patients a $ 5 Target Gift Card.
Within days of applying the prescription medication on affected areas on my hand, the condition quickly improved. So I was very happy with the results of my office visits here.
5 stars for the professional and courteous staff, and knowledgeable doctor that treated me with compassion, care and correct medical diagnosis. I would totally recommend Academic Dermatology of Nevada for anyone that is in need of expert care from a dermatologist.

DO NOT come here for Dermatology! A month ago I came in for a very simple procedure a cortisone shot to eliminate my pimple. Kristin the PA did not inject it enough and I ended up having take time off again to come in and repeat the procedure. Today I wake up at 6:30AM for an 8:00AM appointment for the exact same procedure and again it’s still there without any change at all. This means I again have to take time off to go there and have it redone. And I Can’t even do that because I’m leaving for vacation tonight until next Friday so I’ll spend a week of vacation with this miserable pimple on my face for no logical reason at all. AND I paid them money for absolutely nothing accomplished. I tried to be understanding and reasonable the first time but this is clearly just inexperience and worse inefficiency! I am never going back here again! Nothing I hate more then wasting my time it is absolutely ridiculous!

Best doctors experience I have ever had. The doctor was so nice and really explained everything. The office was extremely clean and very nice overall. The location was pretty easy to find and my favorite thing of all was that they were fast and efficient my appointment was at 10am and I was actually seen at 10am I was out of the office by 10:30 which is amazing usually when I go to any doctors I’m there for at least 2 hours. This place was awesome. I can’t say enough good things.

The comments above are very inaccurate. I went there with acne problem and the PA Christine was not very helpful. She was more trying to sell me pharmaceutical products than even asked me what my complains were and why I am there. The prescription was $ 1200 but it ended up being $ 10 with my insurance and her COUPON (I never had a doctor give me a coupon). After a long process of trying to get the prescriptions I had a rash on my chest. I called her to ask if its possible to be a side effect and she told me she is not sure i can go on MONDAY. I called Friday afternoon and she obviously was done working for the day. I went to urgent care and the doctors prescribes me antibiotics. When i went back to her the next week with the same complaint she didn’t even asked any questions about my rash she just gave me more acne treatment. I explained that this is an allergy rash and I rather get tested to see if I am allergic to something but she insisted i get her acne treatment cream
I will never go back. She did not care at all.
The office was nice and fast however if the medical expertise are missing, expensive office cant fit it.

Very professional punctual staff and doctor. I have been there 2x. Both times I was seen exactly on time. His nitrogen procedure was quick and painless. I like that he has fair skin like me. And he confessed to being in sun too much in his youth. The other dermatologist (another office) I felt was putting me down and demonstrated little compassion. He told me at 50 years old I would look 60! Nice!

I have had the worst experience with this office. When I initially went over 6 months ago I had a few warts on my foot that needed treating. I had also recently recovered from surgery on one wart that I had on my foot. I had a scar that had formed on that area. The assistant was very nice when I told her this, but when the main doctor came it, it was a whole different story. He never even introduced himself. He just walked straight towards me with the liquid nitrogen and was going to freeze the scar (that was still pretty sensitive on my foot). When I objected, he told me that I was wrong and it was a wart. He never even examined it! Needless to say, over 6 months later it is still not a wart. I also asked them if I had fungus on my big toenail. They told me that I had bruising because my shoes were too small. I thought that was pretty strange, but I went out and bought new shoes to give it a try. They were wrong again. It was a fungus and I wasted a bunch of money on new shoes. So, 2 months ago I get a bill from them. I call to see what it is for and never get a return phone call. I called again and the message stated that the person that deals with billing is really overwhelmed and that she will call me back eventually. It is pretty rare that I write a bad review because I know that one bad review can really hurt a business. But, this is getting ridiculous. I am actually writing this review in hopes that someone over there does something about this.

OKAY! This is what I am talking about!!!
Located across from Smart & Final, you will find cute-​sy office buildings on the corner of St. Rose and Eastern.
I went on their website before my guy’s appointment, and printed out their new patient paperwork. We had it all filled out so no time was wasted sitting on our asses.
We arrived at our appointment time, handed the woman (who looked like she belonged in a call center with the headset she was wearing) our completed paperwork, along with insurance card, and photo ID.
The office is very nicely decorated, but it has a boat load of trinkets. If you plan on coming with a small child, like I did, be prepared to hold onto them tight!
Within ten minutes, my guy was called back for his appointment.
He was given answers to all his questions, and all his concerns were addressed.
While he was in the examination room, clients kept coming in! This office was poppin’! !
We were in and out in under an hour! This is the spot to go to if they take your insurance!!!
Oh, also, the doctor gave him 2 different lotion samples, and a body wash sample to try for his skin.
