Specialties

FMS was founded to provide children ages 3 – 13 with an exceptional private school that reaches the whole child, providing an educational environment that is at once nurturing, respectful, challenging and inspiring. Our program is based on the time-tested, well-balanced principle of the Montessori method of education.

Approximately 300 students attend FMS, including mult-age classes of half-day or full-day preschool students, full-day kindergarten students, elementary students from 1st — 6th grade, and middle school students from 7th — 8th grade. Our faculty and administrative staff numbers approximately 40 highly qualified individuals. FMS has an active and supportive parent base and a strong sense of community. We offer before and after school programs plus an exciting summer camp program that enriches and expands our extensive curriculum.

Our challenging curriculum is enhanced by specialists who teach music, perfroming arts, foreign language, art, and physical education. Students have the opportunity to join a variety of after school clubs which include dance, karate, glee club, student government, drama/theatre, and piano. Our goal is to assure that our students are well prepared for life and their future educational endeavors.

History

Established in 1999.

One of the first Montessori schools in the Las Vegas valley, we grew from a few families into a thriving community. The purpose of FMS is to provide an educational environment which serves the whole child — intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually; cultivates a life-long love of learning and inspires a passion for excellence; makes it possible for children to learn to their highest protential; and nurtures the curiosity, creativity and imagination born within us all.

Our school restes on four pillars: academic excellence, universal values, global perspective, and community service. In addition, our campus features an outdoor classroom, gardens, science playground, soccer field, basketball court, amphitheater, technology, and more.

Through the years FMS has focused on developing an incredible faculty with a low student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 10:1 and a strong history of staff and student retention, leading to long-term personal and professional relationships

Meet the Manager

Karen K.

Manager

Karen has been an administrator at FMS since 2001 and manages various school operations. She holds a BS in accounting and an MBA in management. She was originally attracted to FMS while seeking a pre-school program for her son in 2000. Her son was one of the first students to graduate from FMS, attending all 11 years from age 3 through 8th grade. The main element that attracted Karen to Montessori is the «hands-on learning/teaching and the participatory learning environment.» Karen reflects, «FMS has been such a huge part of my life, both personally and professionally. It’s another extension of my family and I’m incredibly grateful to be part of such an amazing school and community.»
