It is very difficult to come up with the right words to say during such a tough time. Losing a loved one is never easy, and to plan for the things that follow are just as hard. I had never had to make any arrangements of this type and I expected a very long and painful process. If there was some comfort in all of this, its that working with Tom certainly made this part bearable. He explained the process very professionally and was very open to questions and concerns. Our questions were answered in a timely manner and several options were provided to us for the services we needed.
We chose to have the funeral service at Hites also. We never thought we’d need more room than what was available, but to our surprise our mother had many, many people who cared about her and the place was full to capacity. Even so, Tom showed courteousness, respect, and made every effort to accommodate our family and guests.
I know its difficult for anyone, but i encourage all to research properly if the time is given. I cannot speak for everyone, nor could i talk about other places, but on this occasion I felt we received excellent service and courtesy during such a difficult time. Thank you Tom for all your help!

Tom Cropp at Hites Funeral Home was absolutely wonderful from the first phone call I made to check out prices. He was so caring and fit in so well with our family when we went into go over all the plans that I invited him and his family to the dinner memorial we had for my husband. He never pressured us to buy anything and was so accommodating in every decision we made. I would highly recommend both Hites and Tom to help your family through such a sad and trying time so they can bring you a little comfort during this difficult time. My family had such a horrible experience due to Hites that we will all be scarred for the rest of our lives. Summerlin Hospital referred me to this terrible place after my twins were born premature and rather than send them to the NICU, forced me to watch them DIE. I felt manipulated into using this place by nurses who wanted me out of the hospital as soon as possible. This felt bad from the get go but I was in deep grief and coerced into this living hell. This was the worst experience of my entire life and Hites made it WORSE with their apathy and carelessness!
I was forced to call Tom the funeral director while I was still hospitalized, just hours after my second twin died! It’s been almost a year now and the anger and hurt is still there. This wound won’t ever heal!
They kept my twins over a month before cremating them and refused to answer my phone calls, emails to the owner. Nada! They let Gaby Foster from Jalen’s Gift Foundation, who is not licensed to handle dead bodies, take photos of my twins after they had been dead over a month! She said she thought the photos would give me some comfort!
Gaby Foster called to let me know I could pick up my twins’ remains! Nobody at the funeral home ever contact me in any way! I was supposed to get keepsake necklaces of my twins’ hands and footprints but they «forgot» to do it!
I went to the so called funeral home which is a disgusting shack and Tom Cropp, the funeral director practically throws the box containing the urn at me! Does not give me death certificates and tells me he’s busy with another family! Then he turns around and walks away! They were supposed to have a funeral for my babies! That never happened!
This place should be shut down and every person there should lose their license! I later found out they cremate all the babies from area hospitals. The hospitals and doctors donate to Jalen’s Gift Foundation to cover up their medical mistakes! No exhumation of remains if there’s no body! I don’t know how these people can live with themselves!
I would never recommend anyone use this place! I’m even wondering if the urn contains my babies’ ashes because it was that bad!

My precious son was still born full term last summer. I was referred to The Hites by the hospital for the cremation of my son. They do this service free for babies. Looking back, I would have paid thousands of dollars to go elsewhere to avoid the service I received here. Two days after I had my son, my husband and I gained the courage to go to the funeral home to make the arrangements. We were told to see Maria. Maria greeted us coldly and had us sit in a room to sign documents. As you can imagine, this was the absolute worst time of our lives. It says on Maria’s business card that she was a «family counselor» which is a complete and utter joke. During the time of losing my son, I had never encountered anyone so cold and seemingly uncaring. She obviously does not care about her job or empathizing with her clients. We picked out jewelry and keepsakes to remember our son. We in fact spent a good amount of money at this funeral home, but were treated like we were just there for a free ride. In the week to come, we had called Maria because we were going to have a funeral service for our son and would like to have his ashes present. Maria not only did not return our phone calls, but when we did get a hold of her, she told us that our doctor didn’t fill out the paperwork correctly, and that the hold up was because we were waiting on him to correct the paperwork they had resubmitted to him. But she added «Please don’t contact your doctor, because you don’t want to make him mad, he could hold it up even more.». I called him anyway. They told me that he did not fill out paperwork wrong, and they did not receive a request to have it corrected. Obviously Maria was lying to give herself more time. Again, we were treated as a non priority. When my husband called to ask again, she was clearly upset that we were persistent in getting our sons remains. At one point he was asking her about the keepsakes, she replied (annoyed) «Yeah and?». The next day when we called for a status, her coworker told us her kids were sick and she was not at work. I was AMAZED that this heartless woman had children. How could a mother treat a grieving mother with such little compassion or kindness? When my sons remains were finally ready, and we went to pick them up, we were handed his urn, and a SEPARATE envelope. We were told that all of his ashes wouldn’t fit in the urn, so they put the remainder in a mail envelope. Imagine as a mother how this would feel to you. Imagine being handed a mail envelope with half of your baby’s ashes.
After weeks of waiting for the keepsakes, and gaining strength, I decided to take a different approach with Maria. I called and was completely rude to her, the way she had been with us. I demanded her call the company who makes the keepsakes, and figure out what the problem is NOW. I also demand she called me immediately after. Guess what? Maria finally decided to be as sweet as candy to me. Basically, I was treated rudely with no dignity when I was completely broken and suffering from this awful loss of my child. However, once I treated her the same way, she was pleasant and prompt. This is disgusting. She should lose her job. I would NEVER let my company be represented by someone who treats my clients this way.
I would recommend NOBODY give their business to the Hites… Unless you want to be treated like garbage during the worst and most painful time of your life.

Tom at Hites Funeral Home was very understanding and sympathetic. He didn’t try to take advantage of our situation and we appreciate that. He did a wonderful job on the viewing details and he is even taking care of the business of getting a VA burial for us. Although this a time for grieving, we wanted to take some time to give credit where credit is due.

We all know dealing with a loss is extremely tough and people don’t necessarily do «research» during such a time. Well, we should. It can make a HUGE difference in an already difficult time. Admittedly, this is the first time I’ve had to handle arrangements, but I know that my mother and aunt had terrible times in the past — made more difficult by certain funeral homes.
In fact, I had my own difficult time dealing with a couple of other businesses while organizing my father’s funeral. That said, my brothers and I couldn’t be more happy/​relieved with the service we received from Hites. Everyone was so nice, respectful, and never made us feel any type of pressure to purchase anything more than what we were asking. I am very grateful for that.

Tom Cropp was extremely great with my family and myself. Yes the outside is not ery welcoming. Believe me as soon as my family and I saw the outside we were not very happy. My uncle was brought here from the hospital and my mom and I came from out of town to help my grandparents. Tom is great he completely walked us through the extrememly painful process. I do hope that they move or get a better location. It is very industrial and not very welcoming on the outside. Tom helped us so much. He went out of his way to make sure we knew he would help us in every way possible. We liked him so much that we asked him to be the mc for our memorial. He was not able to but instantly knew someone who was able and willing. Thank you Tom. I asked tom if he could relay a message to my uncle. He said do one better and write him a letter. I will put it with him when he is going to be cremated. He let me know that he recieved it and it was three pages. Thank you so much Tom.

It has taken me sometime to write this review because I have been dealing with the most devastating loss of my life but I feel that everyone should know how wonderful Hites was during my loss. A month and 10 days after my wedding, July 13, 2014, my husband lost his battle to brain cancer. Being that our marriage was not «traditional» in the sense, I was extremely leery about who to trust to take care of my beloved husband. My father in law found Hites who treated my family and spouse with dignity. Instead of trying to take advantage of my loss and trying to up-​sell me into a lot of unnecessary services and items, Tom was very compassionate and steered me in a direction that he knew would best benefit our needs. I chose a beautiful hand crafted, wooden casket that was exceptionally priced and since the memorial was here in Las Vegas and my husband’s actual funeral /​burial was in West Virginia, Tom went out of his way to ensure that my spouse made his way to his final resting place with ease.
I have had the pleasure of dealing with Tom since the funeral, to order more death certificates and each time I have contacted him, he knew exactly who I was, remembered me as if i were a friend and not a «customer.» I think in a time of death when people tend to be lead in various directions often times in a direction where they are taken advantage of, Hites Funeral Home surely paves the way as someone who has your best interest at heart. I would recommend and have recommended Hites for people experiencing loss of their loved ones.

It feels weird to write a review for a funeral home but when my mom passed away relatively suddenly and without final arrangements in place, I turned to the internet at first for cremation services and a funeral home. Fortunately, I did not go with any of the places I found during my first Google search because a dear friend of mine who was helping during this difficult time found Hites Funeral Home. She called the day before my mom passed and spoke with Funeral Director Tom Cropp. She then referred me here, to Hites, when my mom passed.
Tom was very easy to work with and compassionate during a difficult time. I don’t think there are a lot of ways you can «jazz» up a funeral home to make it easier on the deceased’s loved ones. That being said, Tom’s professionalism made this process as easy as it could have been. It’s hard to talk about payment processes and whatnot, but for those of us who’s relatives die without any money for any type of arrangements and little to no afterlife guidance, it’s a subject that must be broached. Their pricing seems to be competitive with other places I searched. They also have a «no charge» simple cremation available through their partnerships where, if you qualify, the costs are much more manageable.
Overall, I highly recommend this funeral home. It’s a difficult subject to broach, but when all is said and done, thinking about funeral services and cremations and all that goes with that aspect of death are the last thing you want to be thinking about when the time comes.
