Marinello Schools of Beauty Salon

When I came here I was kind of scared I’m not going to lie lol. My first experience with a beauty school wasn’t pleasant. So when I came in, there was a older lady with pink hair which I really liked and she was very nice. I expressed to her about how I needed someone who could do my type of hair. I am mixed but my hair is more like my african American side. I have really tight curls and it’s frizzy so it’s hard to flat iron if you don’t know what your doing. So she gave me Carmen. Carmen was very nice she washed my hair very well. She wasn’t rough with my hair which I really appreciated because I’m very tender headed. She told me about all the products she put in my hair. She flat ironed my hair for the gods! It had so much body. Usually my hair gets frizzy once I step out in night air but I went out last night to freemont and my hair still looks good this morning. You could tell that most of the student there are getting proper training. All the people I saw getting their hair done it looked really nice. Some lady was getting her hair curled by a guy across from me and her curls were very pretty. I’m just bummed I went here after being in vegas for 3 years and going to expensive salons and not liking what I pay for when I went here I payed a really cheap price and was really happy with the results!

Took my daughter there for a touch up on her roots and they did a great job! Great pricing and hours!

I am disappointed with marinello. I used to go here consistently about 2 years ago. Came back to see them for a hair cut 2 months ago, to find a complete change in teaching staff. The inside of the salon seemed dingy and worn. The teacher never checked the haircut I got, when I got home I noticed I had half an inch difference in the length of hair on one side. I fixed it myself and went in to give them one more shot today. I shouldn’t have. I walked in to multiple students at the front desk, signed in for a haircut and a facial. They sat me down to do my haircut first, because they had no one to complete the facial… haircut went well, I get back up to the counter to be told sorry it’s past the time to get a facial, so why then did we not do the facial first??? I will give it to the receptionist who tried to make up for it, but this was the final straw. I will not be returning and I will not be referring my friends.

The student who did my haircut did a great job! I’m not sure why there are such bad reviews for this school when it is a place for students to learn and improve. The instructor was super sweet, I believe her name was mrs Paige? Anyways I came here before a long time ago and my experience this time around was a lot better, I think they said something about changing the school around and «updating» it more. Derek did my haircut and he had a few struggles along the way which was expected but the instructor took her time with him and my hair turned out beautiful !! Definitely coming back !!!

This was my second visit to the school both times the students at the front desk were unprofessional. Laughing when I asked who could do a barber cut. Neither one of the students working the front desk could tell me. I got the impression they were just «there «because they had to be. Not a great environment and the inside needs updating

ALWAYS make an appointment! I was told my friends and I could just walk in (we were getting 1 full set of acrylics and 2 gel polish, I also got a hair cut…) but then when we arrived we were told we needed an appointment and they wouldn’t be able to get all of us in.
I thought giving the school a try was a good idea… once I got in and I sat down, I told the young lady what I wanted (an A-​Line), she said okay went over got her instructor and the instructor started cutting my hair. I was okay with that, she needed to learn. They gave me a mirror and asked how it looked, from what I could see it all looked even and good! yay!
The student started blow drying my hair and burnt the back of my head! I pulled away and then she turned the heat down.
Then the student tried to round brush my hair… that was a horrible mess, but thats okay, round brushes are a pain.
SO I get home show my boyfriend and he starts busting up laughing!!!
MY A-​LINE CUT WAS UNEVEN IN THE BACK!!!
so, he takes a pair of scissors and makes it even himself… MY BOYFRIEND! WHO HAS NEVER CUT HAIR FIXED MY ALINE!
He cut at least half an inch off the left side.
I thought the instructor would be able to do a proper A-​Line…
Then my friends get their nails done & by the time we finish dinner (an hr later) two of her acrylics have popped off!!! My other friend and I never got our nails done because it took 2 hours!!! to do one set.
I mean we had a good time hanging out, so that was good :)
NEVER EVER GOING BACK. It was a lesson learned

Damn, what’s with all the hate? Can’t you just enjoy a good haircut for a great price like i do? Any who I really enjoy this place, because I can get a good haircut for $ 5 by the kind young women who are students there. It sure beats 13 $ or more for a simple men’s haircut by some burnt out middle aged gal which is all too common and some of the chain salon’s. The ladies who work the front desk are kind and attentive, usually wait no longer than 10 mins before I am able to be seen. I have always had my haircut by students who are kind and talkative with a pleasant personality. So I’m definitely a fan.

I went to this school with a appointment for 1pm today to get my little 8yr old girl’s hair done. When we arrived on time they told us they took in a wedding party and they were running 1 hour minimum behind and could we return later. Sure, no problem, but I wished at that point I had gotten a review of the cost. We returned 1 hour later and the old woman behind the desk said I would have to pay $ 9.00 a braid. I told her she doesn’t want corn rows just little braids like the little girls wear. The male supervisor with a black beard SO RUDE pulls out the pamphlet and says «you can read it for yourself». Even the other hairdressers and the old woman and the people in the waiting room told me that was wrong. I told him he was crazy. I’ve had my white hair braided in corn rows for $ 25.00 and I would have ended up paying way more for a little girls hair for itty bitty braids. CRAZY! I told him I would never be back. That is when the old woman spoke up and said «she was an hour late.» Oh I lost it then. Excuse me, I was here on time, ask the guy in the red shirt right there. You didn’t respect my time and then you want to rip me off with a outrages price. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go to this filthy, dirty place.

Okay I gave this place 3 stars ONLY because of how nice my girl was. We had a fun conversation and she was really sweet and made me laugh.
I asked for an almond shaped acrylic. The shape was all messed up, polish got everywhere, and it was very clumpy. You really get what you pay for though. The set was only $ 10 so I shouldn’t have expected nothing extravagant.
I also got a facial. It was nice until she brought out the steamer, it was way to close to my face and I to ask her to move because it started making me tear up. Also it was very loud and not really relaxing in the room because I guess a demonstration was going on. For $ 12, I got my money’s worth though
Overall, I will not be going back there for any type of manicure but maybe another facial

LETS BE REALLY CLEAR: MY 4 STARS IS MAINLY FOR THE STUDENT I GOT! AND THE FRIENDLINESS OF THE STAFF (they even gave me a tour to see all they offer)
if it was just reviewing the facility: I would give 2 stars…
I had the spa facial done: my student was great and did a very very good job. she did a long amazing massage.
1) The hair area looked well kept, trendy, and new!
2) The students were professional and took pride in their work
3) the facility was very clean.
CONS:
1) the facial room was VERY DARK, so without proper lighting we couldn’t do extractions… she couldnt see! (THEY DONT HAVE THE MAGNIFYING/​LIGHT) eeek!!!
2) The EQUIPTMENT SUCKED: the steamer was a really really cheap/​crappy one. it couldnt get the whole face. you had to have it really close to feel anything so basically one area would get the steam.
— I feel bad because my student was good, and here im sure she is paying a ton to learn and they cant even provide decent equiptment to get her ready for an actual career…
3) WALK — IN only = long waits… and you have to Drive all the way over there to see if they have time for you or not.
My reccomendations: get some good equiptment for the students! (tuition is a lot! im sure you can even find decent used equiptment) and maybe consider taking appointments that would be amazing or at least have a direct number to the greeters so you can call and see if they are busy instead of driving all the way over there to find that ou.

Not even 1 star is worth this place.
Came here with a friend for a trim and a blow dry. We decided to skip the trim because the girl is going SUPER SLOW… We’ve been here for 40 minutes now and she hasn’t even dried half of my friends hair.
I asked the receptionist if we could get assistance with the drying and the lady who supervises the students came over and yelled at us saying how my friends hair is too complicated to dry so it’ll be a while and no assistance is necessary.
We will not be back. Do not come here!!!
Students are sitting around talking and playing videos and not even practicing!!! I thought it was a school to learn!!!

I went here to get a re-​touch. I was scared at first with it being a school but after what I went through at another salon, it was worth a try. The person I had service me did a great job eventhough he had not done it before. I was surprised even the other students were helping him to make sure he did the job right. By the way, the prices are half the price you would pay at the salon, it does take a little bit longer because they are students practicing but I’m glad I tried it and saved me a few bucks. I will def. be back!!! (Don’t knock it til you try it).
