I was gonna take my 2007 Nissan Frontier pool service truck to the dealer for repairs until my neighbor recommended Mike at Sunset Auto. I waked in and talked to Mike first and was very impressed when he informed me that they were closed on weekends due to being a family run and oriented shop. Mikey called me within a few hours and informed me that the oil pan gasket was good and did not need replacing as the nissan delaer said. They did however discover a noise the dealer did not and ended up repairing 3 things that were absolutely necessary. Great guys and awesome shop that is honest and that’s a rare thing in this town. Sunset Auto has a new customer for life and I am taking my wifes 2013 Sonata there also.

I have a 97 bmw 528i and a 97 Mercedes c280. So far had this shop do the rear brakes on the beemer and replacement of the transmission circuit board on c280 after it was stuck in 2^nd gear (limp mode). Both very positive experiences! These guys are very professional, personable and seem like they put their heart into their work. The shop has a friendly, honest family vibe to it. I can say I feel confident in having my vehicles serviced here! Thanks!!!

I have to say this place has gained a forever customer. I was going in for an oil change and thought I needed new brakes. MD took a look at my car and told me I wasn’t ready for new brakes yet. He took me out to my car showed me some maintenance I need to keep up on. This mom and pop shop is honest and they do great work!!! I would recommend this shop to anyone and especially to people who don’t know much about cars. Keep up the good work Sunset Auto!!!

My «lil Rusty Bucket» (1974 V Dub) had been sitting for awhile. Since, I sold my other car this was going to be my only means of transportation. I needed to get the «lil Rusty Bucket» road ready. First, new tires then off to Sunset for an oil change, valve adjustment etc. One of my worries was the brakes & if needed to be replaced, it was going cost some $$$.
I walked in and quickly was approached by M.D. I explained what I would like to have done and M.D. wrote up the request said he would make sure everything is taken care of and I turned over the keys.
When I was beginning to walk toward the door he said that he would give me a call.
Now, as we all know, that with auto service, when they say they will call, they never do! It’s up to you to get a response by calling them. NOT HERE. I received a call later in the afternoon and was «thrilled» to be informed that everything went well and I DIDN’T NEED BRAKES”! Just an adjustment. WaHoooo! When my «lil Rusty Bucket» was ready, I went down to pick her up and drive her home. After I paid the bill, I jump in the seat and started her up. OMG! She purred like a «Kitten» ! I was over-joyed. I will not have a problem suggesting Sunset Auto Import Service to anyone who ask.

This is the second time I’ve taken my 2006 Honda Odyssey to them, first was for transmission work, second time was to replace a power steering pump and a belt. Both times the work was done professionally, quickly and with a lower price quote than I got from several other repair shops. I highly recommend Sunset Auto, my entire family (7 cars) considers them our Go To mechanics now.

I came to Sunset Auto after being referred by a VW website that recommended them for foreign car repairs in my area and then reading all of the positive Unilocal reviews.
I’m pleased to say that the positive reviews were merited and the only negative (which isn’t really a negative) is that they are so loved that they have a thriving practice so get here early!
Having said that, let me tell you how efficient they were and got me on the road in record time and on a Friday no less! I had come in earlier that week to make an appointment to trouble shoot my A/C problems for the following week. Little did I realize that just a few days later I would be stranded after my Bug overheated in traffic on a Thursday night. I had my car towed and left my key in the key drop. I was worried because I knew how busy they are and I doubted they would be able to fix it by the end of business on a Friday and would likely be out of a car all weekend long. Boy was I wrong! They found the problem and had my car back to me before 3pm! My hose had cracked and all of the coolant had leaked out! I was so lucky the engine wasn’t ruined– and really I was at their mercy– they could have told me anything. Not only did they not overcharge me or suggest needless repairs, their customer service is superb!
From MD the manager to Mikey the front desk service adviser to Zach the assistant (who also provided a shuttle ride back to the shop), they were all VERY professional, polite and patient. Whoever made the decision to make Mikey the first person you talk to when you enter the shop knew what they were doing. He’s excellent at his job thoroughly explaining everything and listening attentively! I am very grateful for this shop and can’t imagine taking my car anywhere else!

First things first — this is my second time at this establishment. I’m new to LV and wanted to find ASE certified technicians. This shop met the criteria and for the most part had good reviews.
The good:
— amicable staff
— seemingly knowledgeable — ASE

— shuttle service (within reason) for customers
I’m not going to tear them a new one but this issue is definitely a swing and a miss. I made an appointment and was told to come between 8 — 10am today. Upon arrival (within the scheduled time-frame), I was told that they were swamped and asked if I could come back tomorrow. Well… to me that is what the appointment is for — to ensure that I have a spot on today’s schedule at the designated time frame. I made this day available for you to work on my vehicle. Not cool, MD & Co.
Respect my time. Strike one.

Just getting to the review, but October of last year had our 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander worked on for routine work, timing belt and water pump. It was about 1,000 bucks. Had other cars worked on here and all went well, however this time was different. About a week or two after getting it worked on the car overheated. Thought it might have been a fluke and replaced the radiator but it still overheated. I traded it in the following week. This car was purchased brand new and never once had a problem for 10 years until two weeks after it was worked on here.

I am taking my cars to them from time to time. I like working on my cars myself, but sometimes there are «just cannot do» things. I find this shop honest and prices competetive. To those people who are unhappy, I would say there will always be problems that mechanics won’t see in advance. So don’t be mad.

I found Sunset Auto a couple years ago and it’s the only shop I’ll take my car to for service. I’ve also referred my son and daughter and they take their vehicles their too. They are honest, do great work and stand behind their work. Anytime I’ve had an issue return, I’ve taken my car back and they have never charged me to make sure the initial issue was resolved. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a solid place to service your vehicle.

I usually perform my own repairs but due to a health issue, I needed to have my car repaired by someone else. I researched quite a few auto repair shops and decided this one would suit me best. From the first phone conversation with them, I felt that they listened and understood what I needed. They were upfront with costs and time needed to do the repair. I received a call with the diagnostic results very quickly and what they told me was exactly what I knew. Nothing extra or unexpected. I was treated with respect and they were honest in their assessment of my car. The customer service I received was excellent! The work was performed and my car is running beautifully. I will be recommending them to anyone needing work done and feel confident in using them in the future for repairs I cannot make myself. I appreciate very much, the way I was treated, the communication and results of their work. They are above average in every way.

I was happy at first that I finally found an honest place.
I’ve brought my cars in here several times. There is always a nagging feeling I’m getting the raw end of the deal. This last time i was in the shop, I got another quote and couldn’t believe what I was being overcharged. I was quoted 1100 for 1 phase two catalytic converter. It turned out I needed two. Which at sunset would have run me 2200.00
I got them both changed at advanced muffler for 417.00.
This 2200.00 is nearly the exact amount that I was charged for another repair at sunset auto. And it wasn’t a transmission or a major engine problem.
They have lost this customer which really wanted to stay.

This is the best mechanic I’ve ever been to. We’ve been going to them for years, but my experience with them yesterday made me want to post a review finally. I would have always given them 5 stars, but their service yesterday just reminded me of how exceptional they are. They will never try to sell you something you don’t need, they will tell you how long you can wait for a repair so you don’t spend your money too soon, and they are ridiculously thorough. I dropped my car off over the weekend for 3 issues, and on Monday I had received at least 4 phone calls throughout the day giving me an update on the status of my car.
They’re the best, they’re good, they’re friendly, and they’re honest. Don’t go anywhere else.

I have been going to Sunset Auto for years. Been all over Las Vegas and, compared to Los Angeles, many of the auto shops are less than ethical.
It was such a ray of sunshine to do business with Sunset Auto. The owner, Mike is very honest and knowledgeable. MD runs the service desk and has been really great to work with. He is careful with your budget and his labor prices are great. When MD quotes a price he stands by his estimate.
Sunset keeps up with high end tech tools and electronic diagnostic equipment required for today’s computer driven cars. The technicians are very capable and will not suggest service that is not needed.
It is usually like a trip to the dentist when getting your car fixed around Las Vegas and the dealers are among the worst AND the most expensive. They offer average service with high prices. Sunset Auto is such a pleasant experience I almost want to go there just because I know they are so honest and will actually try to help me.
Count me as another happy customer who would simple never consider taking my trusted car (s) to anyone else.
