Can’t beat the choices on their lunch menu, especially the Mazatlan Shrimp enchilada. Mild enough for the most sensitive palate(not mine) and super tasty to the last bite.

This is hands-down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Hendersonville! The price is fantastic for lunch and the portions are large. Love the salsa bar. Waitress was very attentive and accommodating to our toddler. Highly recommend

Great mex food… fresh, variety, and quick… service slow because they are so busy… Would recommend even with slow service… Worth the wait…

Love Papas and Beer, however today would not give us black beans for our kids as their side as part of their meal in place of refried beans. Even though black beans is on the menu, they said they don’t allow black beans as a side. They lost our business today in Hendersonville, NC

We’ve never been displeased. We frequent there at least once a week. Salsa bar, also a big plus.

This place is excellent! Just don’t go on a Monday– they close for remodeling every Monday night. Other than that, this place is always bustling with family’s and couples. It’s a bit noisy sometimes so if you’re looking for a romantic place to have dinner, I wouldn’t suggest Papas and beer. But this place is AMAZING. They have huge portions for relatively inexpensive prices. Massive burritos that last me 3 meals for only $ 6.99. The avocado is my favorite. :) Also, there are unlimited chips– hot and fresh– plus delicious free bean dip and a salsa bar! Papas and Beer is a great place to get a lot of food for a little price. Definitely recommended if you’re craving some authentic Mexican food but have a small wallet.

There is really nothing to not like at Papas and Beer! We arrived on a Wed evening to a small wait but were seated quickly. Drink orders were taken right away. We ordered everything from big draft beers, margaritas, bottled beer and sweet tea. The bean dip they serve with the chips is delicious and so different from the typical salsa! Speaking of salsa– we found some winners at the serve yourself salsa bar– from the meek and mild to the fiery hot. We also ordered the cheese dip and man, was that good too! Our waiter was very attentive despite being incredibly busy– drinks and refills kept coming. When our food arrived, everything was hot and the portions were ginormous! I had the biggest platter of arroz con pollo I have even seen– enough for 2 meals and I love to eat! My husband who normally eats 2 quesadillas was advised wisely by our server to get one and when it came we both laughed over the idea that he might have ordered two of those suckers! The highlight was the«appetizer platter» that had everything from wings to nachos to taquitos– could have been a meal for two or a shared appetizer for four or more!!! We had a great meal and great service at Papas and we will be sure to go again!

The food is sooo good but the service is awful! The host literally walked 10 feet in front of us and just threw the menus on a table and kept on walking! Sooo rude. Then the waitress was awful too forgot so much stuff and was also rude. Thank goodness the food is wonderful or I might have walked out.

Been here a bazillion times, always enjoy it. Wednesday evening at 7:30, passed at least 7 restaurants, all scantily visited with only a small handful of vehicles in each one. Then I pull up to Papas and Beer. Parking lot is PACKED, waiting line to get in, more coming behind me, it’s constant. Everyone eats here! If you’re looking for a place to really enjoy quality down home Mexican food, this is it. May still be closed on Mondays though.

Pros: The margaritas were huge The free bean salsa dip was DELICIOUS. I slathered it all over my fajitas The portions are MASSIVE. Like… Bring an elastic waistband massive The food was good. Your average, what we call back home, tex-mex Cons: We had to sit at a table with a large loud family… Not a huge fan of table sharing on a date Waitress didn’t come over that often, had to keep flagging her down for more drinks as she talked with other waitresses. A pretty good place, overall. Wish we had these back home in Texas =].

The food and price is pretty competitive with our Mexican restaurants in Hendersonville. For some reason the wait staff never seems happy and consequently are not friendly, making it a mediocre place to have a meal. It really doesn’t entice me to want to return.

Typically I hate the farmed out Tex-Mex restaurants. All they are are Denny’s with Mexican type food that’s been Americanized, for our apparent feeble taste. Well, this is a Mexican family owned business. Yes they have curbed their menu to fit us poor«estupido“palette but they have still kept the heritage alive, unlike the chipotle’s and taco ricos of the world. Papas and Beer can hold its own, and I’m glad they can.

We came here for dinner one Saturday evening. We were able to be seated right away in the front ‘patio’ area. I was looking forward to finally trying this restaurant but I have to say I left disappointed. Service: Slow. We were on a road trip and this took a lot longer than anticipated. Our waitress wouldn’t come around too often. We were waiting quite awhile for her to come back and when she did, she walked right past us and first took the food order for the neighboring table that came well after us. Food: Not impressed. The cheese enchilada had some sort of orange(somewhat ‘gelatinous’) sauce on it. I’ve never seen that before. Not sure what it was, but it wasn’t good. I’m torn on the rating, if it was just me, it might be a 2. However, I know my boyfriend enjoyed his.(I’m vegetarian so he had a lot more to choose from than I did.) Also, I liked the margarita. So I’ll give it 3 stars for those.

The ONLY place to go in Hendersonville for Mexican cuisine. I don’t have any complaints except that it is almost too popular! :) go at an odd time of day and it’s swell. Better hurry! Pretty soon, it’ll be slammed at 3:39 on a Tuesday afternoon. Great taste. Lots of food for the money. FYI… Bean dip is fantastic! Salsa bar has plenty of variety. Ps. Go now.

Best Mexican in west North Carolina! Inexpensive, delicious, and family-friendly restaurant. Love the cilantro salsa in the salsa bar and the bean dip they bring to your table with warm chips when you’re seated. The menu is overly extensive, so there’s something for everyone. Couple believe the kids meals! They were big and so well priced! Also, the beef in the beef tacos is like pulled meat from a roast. So moist and delicious! Not like the cheapy ground beef you’d normally get. Even the rice and beans are something to write home about! Also, the margaritas are very tasty!

We had a delicious meal here. Husband and I shared the chicken breast fajitas and an order of queso The chicken was tender and perfectly seared. In addition to green and red peppers and onion, the fajitas also had strips of grilled zucchini. Very tasty! Their salsa bar has a nice variety. My only complaint – and it is minor – is that their chips were quite salty. Fortunately, their draught beer was very affordable!

Was not good, ordered one thing got something completely different… I specifically asked for no beans… I got black beans. This is my second time and went to a different location… just not my idea of good food… the place was packed, but the wait staff can listen… It just left a sour taste in my mouth. Now within an hour just was not feeling good after the meal… very pissed off!

This was my first experience at the original papas and beer. I got the chicken chimichanga that I normally get at the location in Asheville. This place doesn’t even come close to the other one in Asheville. The bean dip and service were actually pretty good, but I’m not there for those things. The entrée wasn’t even on the same level. Maybe it was an off day, but it was really disappointed. I will definitely be revisiting the Asheville location so I don’t lose faith in Papas.

I loved our last visit here a few years ago. This time, it fell short. We arrived at 2:30 on a Sat afternoon. Had a 20 min wait. Seriously? It was hot outside… but hotter inside. Hard to enjoy food when you are sweating to death. But the food… it was awful. I would perhaps sweat if the food were good. My son took one bite and said NO. He ate nothing. Mine was just ok. Enchiladas. How do you mess this up. The sauce was weird. I can’t explain it… but my son agreed obviously. We ended up taking a lot of it with us for the next day. It didn’t taste better left over either. Won’t be back next visit to the area…
