RVC is a private non-profit 501©3 organization founded in 1981 to meet the demand for recreational volleyball in the Central Virginia area and to foster a juniors program of over 400 players ages 10 — 18. Our 2500+ members play in leagues that run throughout the year. Between our two sites, we have 16 courts and our facilities include concession stands, a pro shop, workout room, and showers.

History

Established in 1981.

The Richmond Volleyball Club was founded when two area leagues, TRAVL and Fan League, merged and opened a 4-court RVC East location at 3300 West Marshall Street (no longer in use).

The popularity of league play at RVC grew tremendously during the 1980’s, resulting in a much needed expansion. In the fall of 1991, RVC West, with six courts at 1907 Westmoreland Street, opened its doors to the membership. These two locations («East & West»), housing a total of ten courts, served RVC until January, 2010. After a long search for the right location, the purchase and renovation was completed and play began in RVC’s current home at 2921 Byrdhill Rd. This location boasts 12 indoor courts, space for outdoor courts and together with 6 courts at RVC West, makes RVC one of the largest volleyball-dedicated facilities in the world.
