There is truth to the reviews you see for this hotel that note the rooms are clean. It certainly serves the purpose of providing a clean room to sleep in at night. I was on the hunt for a reasonably priced hotel for Christmas weekend. The last time I lived in the Rochester area, about 10 years ago, the Super 8 didn’t have a stellar reputation, but when researching my options online the price was right and reviews overwhelmingly noted the cleanliness of the rooms — so Super 8 fit the two most important items I was looking for in a place to stay! I will say I have been a bit spoiled at the other places that I have stayed in. Don’t commit to Super 8 and expect a stellar experience. It is basically a 2-, maybe 3-star hotel. The woman who checked me in at the front desk was friendly and moved quickly. They didn’t have envelopes for the key cards, so I was provided two loose keys, with post-it note strips affixed to the front with our room number written in on them. She then provided clear directions on where to park and what door to take. While the lobby seemed clean and was decorated nicely for the holiday, the stairwell to my second level room and the hallway smelled faintly of cigarette smoke and looked like they could benefit from a good vacuuming(even better, a good, deep carpet shampoo). I arrived to the room — a king suite and found it to be very clean. A definite plus! Note that for a king bed, we only had three, very flat pillows. If you like a little more support at night, it can’t hurt to bring your own pillow! Also, we only had three towels in the bathroom. Two body towels and a hand towel. It would have been nice to have four towels and perhaps a pair of hand towels. Saturday morning we got off to a later start. We had our Do Not Disturb sign on the door that morning, but took it off before leaving around 10 — 10:30 a.m. Housekeeping was still on our floor, so we figured they had to revisit our room. We were disappointed to arrive back later that night to find the bed hadn’t been made and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned(thank goodness we had hung up our towels after our showers that morning!). Another plus to note is the hotel’s proximity to so many places. It’s very close to the New York State Thruway and I-390. Tim Horton’s is a stone’s throw away for good coffee and food on the run. You also have the Peppermints and Lehigh diners around the corner serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overall, for the price I got the room for the value wasn’t bad. I was able to snag a rate through Expedia for under $ 50 a night and the room was clean and overall quiet(minus some rowdy neighbors out in the hall Saturday night around midnight). The Super 8 will certainly fit the bill for travelers on a budget. Just don’t expect the moon and stars, or you’ll be disappointed!

Excellent value for the money. Motel is clean, staff is friendly and accommodating, and location is convenient. Don’t be scared off by the name or the price. Very happy with our room. Will stay there again.

I got an excellent value at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was nice and clean, and the housekeepers were very kind and pleasant. I skipped on the breakfast, but they did have waffles, oatmeal, cereals, milk, tea, coffee, and I think maybe yogurt. The location is also great. It’s 10 minutes from College Town and right close to the Marketplace Mall. The one thing: this hotel looks like it was last updated between 1971 and 1977… I mean, vast expanses of mottled brown tile and berber carpets. I found it cutely kitschy and enjoyed the whole retro nostalgia feel, but some people would be really put off by the décor.

Super value clean rooms you can’t beat this place. The needs and pillows were very comfortable. The front lobby is immaculate and the consiglieri at the desk is very helpful in dispensing suggestions on where to eat. His directions were spot on. Definitely would stay here again when visiting this area.

The key in this review is value. Through I got a room for $ 35 a night. I was solo so it was ok. I probably would not stay if my wife was joining me. He hotel is alright. Clean and functional. No frills. The breakfast is very basic. Only hot choices were make your own waffles and instant oatmeal. Would I stay here again? If with my wife, no. If myself depends on prices at other locations.

It was nice and cheap. The breakfast was pretty much all-you-can-eat but quite limited in its options. Some parts of the building smelled… funky, I don’t know. In all, it could have been better, but I think it was worth the(surprisingly low) cost for three nights. ^^

great value — big room, no smell, fairly clean. Dogs stay for free!(Which is why we came here in the first place.) Close to Rochester, it is right off the highway and near lots of big-box stores and a good Korean restaurant.

Nice place — clean, comfortable, convenient. However, the power in my room went out at 6pm — 3 hours and 3 phone calls later I was finally moved to the other end of the facility with no help or direction whatsoever. No rate reduction, no nothing. Continental breakfast consists of cornflakes and muffins — and not enough of either for the 250+ rooms that were completely booked. I really did like the facility, but I got zero sleep after moving my stuff and car to all ends of the night.
