Don’t do it. Not worth the money. Very unprofessional when they would leave to go and get a towel they would have have the door open. My massage therapist focused more on my uper body he didn’t even do my arms or hands. Not worth it! !!!

I went there for deep tissue massage and I ask for deep tissue massage when I check in. The lady that checked me in was very hard to understand and communicate, they do what ever they want to do and do not respect the customer request, she send me to room to chang, the room was clean, another lady came asked her again I need deep tissue massage, she ask me what I mean by deep, dip or deep, I spelled it deep, she did not understood (very bad english) what I am asking and she still done oil massage bangkok system, that I did not want, I paid for service upfront and add tip to it, when it was finished the lady at the check in keep asking for more tip and forcing for more money with that broken english that was very hard to understand anyway very bad customer service, not professional salon, wast of time and money, if I could I give this salon BIG 0, very very bad.

This was the massage from hell! I went to Golden Spa to get a massage yesterday and since I live in the area it’s convinient for me. But I rather drive further and spend more $ for better service and a relaxing massage. As I walked in the reception area the receptionist was eating with her mouth open and I told her I had an appointment at 4:00 p.m. She didn’t say anything but walked away and came back and told me «You pay now.» So I told her about the marketplace magazine and their special for $ 39.99 for one hour. She said yes ok and I gave her cash.
She took my cask and put it in her back pocket. She then took me to my room and after I was undressed and waiting she came back into the room after 10 mins and told me that everyone was busy and she will be doing my massage. I told her I could come back at a better time and she said it was not necessary. She was so rough that I woke up this morning with bruises on my back. I told her it was too hard but she kept doing the massage extremely hard. At this point I just wanted to tell her that I was ready to leave. But because I had already paid, I wanted to get my money’s worth. While getting the rough massage she stepped away 4 times to answer phone calls and schedule appts. and then she told me she was done after 50 minutes. She tried to cheat me out of 10 minutes and by this time I was ready to run!
So by the time I get dress I’m ready to leave and while I’m exiting this crazy lady asked me, What about my tip? You need to tip me.” I couldn’t believe it! She chased me out their building asking for a tip. If I could I would give them 0 stars!

I am so surprised this place has ANY good reviews! My experience here was so awful it could have almost been humorous. If only i wasn’t so upset by the whole thing.
When I first called the woman who answered the phone said they would take me as a walk in in an hour. So that was fine and I waited. I go in and the woman doesn’t greet me or anything just says I have to pay up front. I should have seen this as the first red flag! I paid with my card but not having had the massage yet didn’t know what I would want to tip yet. I think you should tip based on the quality of the service. She looks over my shoulder as I’m signing and tells me I have to have cash for the tip. Flustered, I just mumbled «okay».
She points me to a room like child being disciplined with no explanation of a robe or anything. I am confused and starting to get upset at this point but I lay on the table anyway.
I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst massage of my entire life! The woman didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing at all. It’s like someone just told her «massage is when you press your hands on people’s bodies» and ten minutes later she decided she would try it out on the first idiot that walked in (me)! I was counting down the minutes until it was over it was so uncomfortable and not the least bit relaxing.
When it was finally (thankfully) over, I told the woman at the desk that I didn’t have cash for a tip and I could put it on my card. She pulled out my old receipt after first handing me someone else’s receipt, and even though this business did not deserve a tip at all, I think it’s prob a pretty tiring job so I gave $ 8. The woman, reading over my shoulder says «give ten» WHAT. I think I misheard her so I asked to please repeat herself and she says «you need to give ten» WHAT. So I said «no, I am giving you $ 8» and she laughs. And I walk out.
If you want to have a relaxing experience, go anywhere else. Go to a monster truck show. Go eat parts of animals that others have deemed inedible!
If you want to be nickle and dimed for something that barely resembles a massage, go to Golden Spa.

I’m surprised no one has written a bad review about this place. During my first experience, everything went well from accommodating me after making an appointment to the massage given by Bobo. She was amazing and even asked my preference on how strong I wanted my massage. My second experience was fine as far as the massage but I got ticked off when the lady at the front desk didn’t want to change my cash. I needed change to tip the masseuse but she was telling me to just give what I have. I had to let the issue go because I did not want to feel irritated while getting a massage. My third experience was horrible. I made an appointment earlier in the day for me and my mom. Once we got there, the lady in the front said that they can only take one person at a time because they were busy. Our other option was to wait or come back in an hour. Uh, we had an appointment! I mean, i can understand if they were short staff but come on, accomodate those with appointments! If they can’t, show some customer service by calling the client because they could be coming from far locations! My mom and I didn’t want to wait so we left with disappointment. Now my fourth experience was my last. Again, I called earlier in the day to make an appointment. So what happened when I got there? They told me to come back in an hour! I told her it was the second time they did this to me and she was trying to explain the issue they were having. I was filled with so much anger that I wanted to make a scene but instead raised my hand at the lady and stormed out of the building. So furious, I called the place wanting to speak with the manager but apparently they werent available. I received a call back with an apology and was offered an extra 15 min massage for free on my next visit. That’s it?! Call me diva but after three horrible experiences, it should of been for free. I didn’t accept the offer. I just decided to never come back. It’s unfortunate because it’s only down the street from my house. Now I have to travel to Concord just to receive good customer service.

I came here with my boyfriend and I was a little sketchy for sure because it is in the cuts but I was really surprised by how clean and relaxing it was. Defiantly coming here again $ 40 for 1 hour. The only reason it wasn’t a 5 star for me was because I paid with card so the $ 80 +$ 20 tip and she wanted me to add $ 1.00 for using card I feel that should have been covered by them but overall good experience

Fantastic massage, good price too! I have neck problem due to working in front of my computer all day long. After massage, my neck and back pain was relieved tremendously. Definitely will come back again.

My boyfriend and I went here today for the first time. We wanted a massage at the last minute on a Saturday and was able to get an appointment. I found this place on Unilocal and read all of the reviews. I have been to many spas and day spas. I was curious about Golden Door because how is it possible to get a good massage for. only $ 40.00? Well… it is possible. Given the reviews I wasn“t expecting a plush, blissful experience. It was very clean and pleasant. We both had an excellent deep tissue massage. The muscle work was fabulous. Now I am convinced. If I want excellent body and tissue work, I will go here. I left feeling rejuvenated and tension free. With the super reasonable prices… I can go. more often! And, hot towels after and then wipeoff the oil was nice. Next time I might want my own though if I go with mu boyfriend as the therapists occasionally chattered… which is why I gave one less star… because when in a couples room… I prefer no talking. But overall an excellent massage! Next time I will try the stone massage or go for 1.5 hours. Heck, for $ 80.00 you can get 2 hours!

I’m on the fence about this place. Called and got myself and husband in at 1pm on a Wednesday which was great. We were the only ones there and upon arrival two women greeted us. They got down to business and asked us to pay first (this is the first time this has ever happened to me). And of course we never pay in cash so when we charged the massages after the card was run, we were asked if that included tip… Uhm — no it doesn’t. I tip AFTER a service is provided, not before… So that was a red flag for me. I got over it and told her I had cash to tip my person and to add my hubby’s tip to the card… She informed us it costs money each time the card is run… Uhm ok.
The room itself was nice and clean. We got massages side by side. She asked what kind of pressure I wanted and I said medium, not too hard. This woman had strong hands. She really worked my back and shoulders, my back is throbbing still! A little painful for my taste. My hubby really enjoyed the hard massage. So it was a draw… I think I’m going to have to try his place again to really decide. Next time I will bring cash and be ready to pay first. I am sticking to my guns tho– I tip based on how well the service went.

Good Massage for $ 40/​hour. I’ll be back.

This place is awesome. The prices are completely reasonable which means that you can get all the knots worked out of your back. Forget going there for a special treat, go there for your therapy, go there for your health, go there because its better than getting you nails did.
My masseuse tended to use a lot of pressure, used her forearms, and had to be told to lighten up. Do you know why that is great? Its because she is strong. I have found that when a masseuse is weak, I am constantly telling her to use more pressure. But someone who is strong can easily adjust between a light, medium, or strong massage. She communicated with me really well and was able to adjust the pressure based on my requests.
They are open every day, all day. You can even snag a last minute appointment. Cash or credit, both are welcome. Parking is available AND there is a nice Asian bakery right next door.

First you have to know who to go to and have a VOICE in regards to what you like and don’t like. For me it’s elbows no matter where I go. Anyhow it doesn’t make a place not professional because of the limitation of speaking English we do live in the Bay Area and a heavily asian population. Lowering their rating based on ethnicity is plain wrong. As a matter of fact they do speak English enough to get by and complete excellent massages.

I’m happy I went to check this place out for myself without letting reviews on Unilocal deter me. I went in on a Saturday morning, with no appointment, and was taken to a room right away. Yes, I had to pay in advance but that is not an issue for me. Tina was my masseuse and she nailed every aching, tight, sore, and tense area of my body. Every single one… without me having to tell her anything. She checked in with me about pressure, temperature, and even asked me several times if everything was OK. Yes, she has a heavy accent but this is California, I’m used to it.
If you’re looking for a 5-​star luxury spa this is, obviously, not the place. But if you want a great massage in a clean, warm, welcoming environment by someone who clearly is knowledgable about the mechanics of the musculoskeletal system… check it out. And ask for Tina!

I decided to get a massage because my neck was killing me. I’ve seen this place in passing especially when I would go to Sunflower bakery and just has the word «sketchy» written all over the place and it’s open ti’ll 9pm. I’ve seen places like this on dateline or on the local news but had to take chance and give it a try. The inside was very clean. They ask you to pay the $ 40 up front which I find out later Asian massage places usually ask for payment first. As I walk further into the place, there are different rooms, like a lot of different rooms. Hmm. the person who massaged me hardly spoke any English. The massage was okay but most of the time when she would ask me a question, I couldn’t tell if she was asking me if she was hurting me or the area she’s massaging me hurts and needs special attention. Anyways, later come to find out my doctor told me I shouldn’t have went and gotten a massage which prolonged my neck injury. Boo. Oh well lesson learned.

I’m at the computer for most of my waking hours (as are many of you, I bet), so of course I have that chronic crampy tightness between my shoulder blades and lower back. The solution? An ergonomic assessment for my workstation aaannnnndd… A MASSAGE!
Intro
I called Golden Spa and they had an opening in half-​an-​hour (for both my Mother and I). Even though it’s nestled the corner of a little shopping center, the business was easy to find. We received a warm welcome from two ladies, Tina and «Sa-​sa» (I apologize for potentially butchering your name, Sa-​sa), and they were ready for us immediately. They brought us to our respective rooms which were clean and welcoming. My room was mildly chilly, but once I stepped into the heated table and sheets, the cool air of the room provided a nice counter-​balance (I wouldn’t want to pass out from too-​hotness!).
Massage
Sa-sa’s massage was tailored towards the tension in individual muscles. While she did do a lot of kneading, there was a wonderfully great deal of, how shall I say this, strategic pressing (I think I mean Shitazu)? She knew where the tight muscles were and because I asked her not to hold back on pressure, she manipulated those tight muscles into putty. I never mentioned the «crampy tightness between my shoulder blades and lower back», particularly the right side, but when she was working back there, she noticed some craziness and paid special attention to those areas. Also, to my surprise, she spent more time on that right side.
The Low Down
While this isn’t an ultra pampered fancy experience, the ambiance was nice and the staff was sweet. This is a $ 40 massage! If you need a great massage, but don’t need the fluff (sometimes we do, I know, I know…) this is an affordable option. I’m definitely coming back.
