Officially deemed the Capital of Red Sox Nation West, Fat Face Fenner’s Fishack in Hermosa Beach is the largest New England sports bar on the west coast. A meeting place for all Boston fans alike, every Pats game is a fantastic adventure! Located at Hermosa Beach’s Pier Plaza, it’s the perfect mix of New England and sunny SoCal, with the finest authentic and award-​winning chowdahs, burgers, and seafood!

History

Established in 1972.

What started as a local beach bar with Irish roots on Hermosa Ave, eventually moving in 1999 to it’s current location on Pier Plaza, Fat Face Fenner’s is a local treasure. Rooted in traditional New England and Irish families, Fenner’s has always been a west coast staple of east coast cuisine and ambiance. South Bay/​Westside residents transplanted from New England flocked to Fenner’s to get an authentic taste of «back East.» In the early 2000’s, the Boston sports base grew, and climaxed in 2004 with the Red Sox winning the World Series. From then on, we’ve been a staple of Boston sports, and a hub for New Englanders looking for a place to call home. We had the World Series trophy visit in 2007, along with Jerry Remy. Since then, we have enjoyed Patriots’, Celtics and Bruins wins and championships. Fenner’s is a great place to enjoy great food (chowdah, seafood, burgers and a great selection of «Fenner’s Favorites» appetizers) and sports (Boston, local, and other).

They may be closing in a few days but that won’t stop me from reporting that my waitress (short, long brown hair) refused to charge us the appropriate advertised drink specials even after we showed her the flier, then hunted us down when we went to the other room and got in our face for not tipping her. She screwed us out of $ 20 on our bill as it is! Even though I told her I left cash on the bar and would go settle it at the bar (lies, ha) she started YELLING at us «No you didn’t! I’m getting off my shift now; you settle it with me!» WTFFFFF!!! Hands down worst waitress experience ever. Manager apologized and said she was already on his shit list and assured me she would not be getting hired at the new place or hopefully anywhere working with people again.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this bar! BUT… DJ black Sheep plays on the weekends and he never takes requests. On top of that, as soon as it turns 1 AM, he starts to play slow music so that the crowd will die down. Sooooo lame *thumbs down emoji*
But other than that, this is the best bar in Hermosa!!! SOOO much fun all the time!!! But DJ black sheep should probably go…

This bar is located on the second floor and a great spot for Boston fans! They have quite a bit of Boston red socks décor that starts from the first floor and throughout the stairs heading up.
The bar itself inside wasn’t kept every clean. The table tops were pretty sticky and it was only 10 pm.
Like William G. stated, this place can become a hotbox. We went during 10 pm and there wasn’t packed by any means.
I probably won’t come back here, mainly because nothing really struck me, but I’m also over my bar hopping days.

Out of the four bars that my cousins and I went to, this one was my least favorite. Reason being that it was ridiculously hot, and air circulation is not that great here. No, this was not in the middle of summer, not in the middle of the day. It was at night time when it was temperate weather.
The place is located on the second story of the building across from Sharkeez and American Junkie. A short walk up the stairs will lead you here. The place is small, which can get cramped when too many people come here.
The crowd was ok, but not with the same energy level that I prefer. If you’re looking for a drink and don’t mind the cozy feel, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for a high energy place, head across the pier.

Terrible. Food was bad. Fish and chips looked like a fish penis on top of fries. The crust came right off the fish. The chips were stale, the manager and most of the staff were jerks and had a terrible attitude. Very disappointed. Poor prices for poor food. If I could rate it 0, I would. Would not go again, would not go at all.

So where do i begin,
We get here on a Saturday night, and theres a small line. We can here the bar’s music and ambient from down low so we decided to go there. Now idk why there was a line, but there was a bouncer with long hair who kept letting people in who appeared to be his friends and random girls. We finally get to the front of the line and as he checking our IDs he then takes his attention away from us and individually says wassup to like 10 people leaving the bar and then starts hugging this girl and kissing all up on her neck and whispering in her ear. Were annoyed but we then still go in. This bar was probably the ugliest, most cramped spot ever. The walk way was more of a fire hazzard because people were just standing there with no one able to go through them. The music just sucked real bad, the ambient was aweful, we literally walked ourself back out of there as soon as we realized that. Save you time, this place sucks, its lame, with lame people.

Thought this place was awesome but the staff has dropped off. Bartenders are airing dirty laundry during their shift making the experience very uncomfortable. With competition tight on the pier, it seems like the staff should be solid?

This bar has a great location, TVs everywhere to watch the games, and happy hours seven days a week (I think).
My only criticism would be to have more security staff walking around. It seems like with the heavy pours and the drink specials, the crowd can easily get out of hand here without security to police the drunk guys inappropriately hitting on girls or the women who drank too much and are taking naps on the back tables.

Only reason we tried it was it had a funny name and view of the plaza was nice. The food we had was bad. Clam Chowder was the most disgusting weird consistency and didn’t taste anything like chowder. Waiter was great, replaced it. The next bowl had better consistency, but had zero taste, added salt and Tabasco to make it tolerable. Ordered my hamburger medium-​well and after a few bites near center it had marks where the Jockey was hitting it, blood red. Just no attention to detail, the Manager was very good and I can tell he did care and gave us drink tickets for the future, but with all the restaurants in that area and competition being what it is, if they want to serve food they should improve the quality or they will go out of business.

The bouncer was soo rude. He asked me if I was over 21 after checking my id. Why would you ask me that when you had already checked my ID? I said I wasn’t sarcastically thinking he was joking around for asking because no one has ever asked me that after checking my id. He said that I couldn’t go in for saying that and that I needed to learn a lesson lol. He said not to ever say that again. I’m sure I won’t ever have to because no one is stupid enough to ask that question!

The Latina Bartendar is nice the one with black hair.
The waitress however with dark roots and blond ombré ends is a rude b****! She asked me if I was okay and I told her yes we are just waiting for our shrimp prawns and 5 mins later when they came out she came up to me and got in my face and said loudly I front of everyone «YOU KNOW YOU JUST ORDERED THOSE FROM ME RIGHT!!!»
I said «No I didn’t why would I order the same thing twice, you heard me wrong .»
She gave me such a bad attitude and said rudely «Whatever!!»
I should’ve gotten her name.
The bartender was nice enough to take off the beer we ordered because of all the trouble & DRAMA that miss bitch waitress created but because of her actions I won’t be going back.
Also the food is mediocre. I would’ve put one star but the Latina Bartendar was too nice for me to put just one.

Second time coming to this place. First time was a great experience, but the Second time, A mess not sure what was going on. The service was ridiculous, the Female bartender only catered to Dicks. She walked by at-​least five times. Then when finally got a drink it was a watered down pre– prepared margarita. A mess. A fucking mess.
WHO EVER WORKED 5÷12÷2015 Female between the hours of 5−6pm. Please get some rest, will try you guys again. But geassss please get it together

As my brother and I found our seat, a guy (presumably very drunk) started to sing country music loudly to these girls at the bar while peppering in obnoxious jokes. Many people were obviously irritated by him and nobody working there tried to calm this guy down. He got louder as the girls ignored him and eventually started to strip for them… while still singing country music… Loudly.
This was dead center of the bar area and STILL NOBODY working there thought to keep these girls from being sexually harassed. Bad management. Bad management.

This Boston bar is officially re-​open as of today, celebrating the Patriots appearance in the Super Bowl. Yay!
They’ve got the Boston vibe down from the food (chowda!) to the drinks to the music, and of course the crowd. $ 3 drinks during all Boston games — doesn’t get much better than that!
Great spicy bloody mary’s too (zing zang mix– the best) — make sure to ask for zing zang and not clamato (unless you are into that).
