Master Mechanic that doesnt give Estimates!!! Hah!!! do not go here!!! The idiot owner/​master mechanic, Hakan Wiberg, is the biggest idiot I know. I cannot believe that this guy even owns a shop here in Hermosa!!! My husband brought in our son’s 1989 Volvo on Wed 7÷8÷15 and this place never even looked at the car, kept the car the entire day and promised he would call me by 9am the next day… well the next day comes around and he never calls, puts me on hold for 10 minutes… at that point I walked down there. When I get there, he starts yelling at me telling me that he is sorry but he has so many customers. Dont go here… this guy is a complete idiot. I will be contacting the better business bureau as he should NOT be in business for how he treated a local resident! I took my car and will never return. He started shaking and screaming that he has so many customers, etc (I thought he was going to have a heart attack!!!)…he just doesnt get it.

I have never felt more comfortable or in better hands than I do at Swedish Pro-​Tech. Hakan and his team always go above and beyond, including allowing me to make payments when I had major issues and didn’t have the money to pay for it up front. They are one of the few mechanical shops where I didn’t feel taken advantage of at all! Often women can be especially taken advantage of, but I have never felt this way at Swedish Pro-​Tech. They are very kind and knowledgable and will really work with you when you are in need of extra assistance. I won’t take my Volvo anywhere else ever again.

After moving into town and seeing good reviews for this place I thought I’d give it a try. I called and asked to bring my Volvo in. They said sure it’d be ready same day or next day at latest. I needed an oil change, headlight replacement and strut mount replacement. I took it in the next day they called and said it’d take longer… then again… and again. After about 4 days they finally said it was ready. I went in and paid the $ 400+ bill (just for labor, I brought my own parts since I knew what needed replacing and it saved me about 80% on parts.) The owner went over what they did. He said it took way longer than expected because they had to redo the headlight several times but they weren’t going to charge me extra… as if it was my fault they couldn’t do it in a timely fashion? Then he rudely said they didn’t do the oil change because «You need to go somewhere else for the oil change because this isn’t pepboys and you’re trying to save money». Ok… I never said my budget was limited or that I had a problem with the price. I usually pay about a hundred dollars for a full synthetic oil change, I wonder how much more they could’ve been charging? Also, he gave me a two page list of things he said were wrong with my car (strange my old mechanic said my car was in great condition). Anyway, I took my car and left because I’d already missed too many days of work due to them keeping my car. About a week or so later I realized that whenever I make a left turn quickly, the car squeeks where they worked on it. So, to sum it up, it took way too long, they didn’t do everything I asked, and my car sounds like a mouse going around corners now. Thanks!

Like most other reviews here I have nothing but great things to say about SPT, and Hakan in particular. We’ve been bringing our Saab and BMW (since sold, but after a service recommended by Hakan and that helped me sell the car in 3 days) for services and random repairs for about 4 years and couldn’t be happier with the service, friendly and knowledgable staff, and willingness to go the extra mile.
When you don’t want to get over-​charged by dealers, its often difficult to find an independent shop that you feel can trust. Look no further than Swedish ProTech, reasonable prices, on time repairs, and usually a carwash thrown in!
Retrieving a phone seriously jammed in the seat track, resetting an errant alarm, finishing the fitting of a part that I purchased myself, all were all taken care of at little, or no charge. This is what service is all about, Hakan understands the value of customer relations and for that reason he will be servicing my Saab for as long as I own it.

I have lost faith in Unilocal for purposes of finding an honest and reasonable mechanic. Although this place had 4.5 stars, my experience could not have been worse and the owner, HAKAN, tried to BULLY me into paying for a freon recharge service that I did NOT authorize.
I brought in my 2007 Volvo for warranty repairs on the transmission and air conditioner. Two months ago a freon recharge (for which I paid $ 120) had temporarily resolved the problem of the A/​C not blowing cold air but the resolution was short-​lived, which is obviously indicative of another issue.
My mechanic had already diagnosed the problem — a leak in the condenser. Unfortunately, he does not work with warranty companies and I was referred to this shop.
In short, Hakan and his staff were unable to locate a leak and moved forward with completing a freon service despite my having been very clear about the recent recharge not lasting — I even showed him the estimate from my mechanic diagnosing the leak. When I went to pick up my car, Hakan started yelling and demanding money for the freon recharge. I offered $ 150, close to what I paid at Sears a couple months ago, only because I was running late for work and wanted to get on with my day. Hakan countered with just under $ 400 — and wouldn’t release my car unless paid.
Ultimately, the police were called to mediate and I was saved getting RIPPED OFF (i.e., I didn’t have to pay for the freon, instead it was removed). I have since brought the car to a third mechanic and there ARE leaks that would prevent the freon service from lasting.
Unless you are interested in potentially throwing money away for unnecessary services and dealing with a temperamental and unreasonable owner, I suggest bringing your Volvo or Saab elsewhere.

Let me just start by saying Hakan and his staff are AMAZING and MARVELOUS to work with! They are HONEST, TRUTHFUL, and DO EXCELLENT WORK on GERMAN and SWEDISH CARS! Hakan drives what he works on so HE KNOWS what the car is supposed to sound and feel like when it is running!
My family has been driving Volvo’s since 1982. That’s well over 30 years and in those 30 plus years we have had 6 Volvo’s! I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of cars but that is because Hakan was always able to fix any issues that arose so we were able to drive all of them until the wheels came off! As much as cars cost we believe in getting our money’s worth! LOL!
They all had upwards of 200 plus miles before they died and went to car heaven! My mom drives a 94 with over 200,000 miles on it now and my car has well over 160 thousand plus miles and still going strong THANKS to HAKAN and his WONDERFUL STAFF of ENGINEERS and MECHANICS!
My family has been going to Hakan since before I knew anything about driving, but was an excellent side seat driver (that’s a passenger for all you non-​drivers)! I think we were some of his first customers because when you own a German or Swedish foreign vehicle you don’t just take it to anyone and let them put their fingers on it! YOU also have NO problem asking people WHO or WHERE do you take you car? And if you do let just anyone PUT their hands under the hood, you will NOT have it long.
Everyone knows once that manufacture warranty runs out and the extending one you bought also runs out the dealer finds everything under the sun that is wrong with your car that they of course could not, would not, or just didn’t find when you had the warranty that would pay for the work! You end up having to put your child up for sale or cutting off an arm or leg just to get it repaired! Isn’t it AMAZING how that happens! (cough) SCAM (cough)…
The GREAT thing about this place is the SHOP is CLEAN and NEAT! His workers are CLEAN AND NEAT as well! Yes they will have dirty hands BUT they take pride in the work they do and YOUR VEHICLE! His prices are VERY REASONABLE AND FAIR! He WILL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE of you. And since women actually drive these days YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM TREATING YOU LIKE YOUR STUPID! He explains everything BEFORE HE DOES THE WORK! He will tell you EXACTLY HOW MUCH EACH ITEM IS and the LABOR SEPARATELY! HE GIVES ITEMIZED BILLS! AND he WILL even SHOW YOU what was broken or needed repair if you want to see it!
If you’re looking for an SINCERE, GENUINE, HARD WORKING, REASONABLE PRICED MECHANIC for you GERMAN or SWEDISH vehicle COME HERE! YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT!

Although it is painful to spend $$$ on my Volvo, these guys are great. Good service, trustworthy and easy to deal with. It would be better if they were open on the weekend, but otherwise all around a good experience.

Highly recommend. I have been driving Saab’s for years, and these guys are quick to respond, reliable, and trustworthy. Most car repair places I’ve been to have no problem running a list of things you need to do, RIGHT NOW, when you only came in for something minor. These guys take care of what you are there for and send you on your way with a better running car.

I have been bringing my Volvo 960 and other Volvos there for over 15 years. Hakan and his staff have the diagnostic equipment and product knowledge to address any routine maintenance or issue that I have brought them. They provide the best service at a competitive price. This is the best of both worlds. Hakan’s Staff has remained constant for all of these years which tells me a lot about them and the work they do. I have never needed to bring a car back because they misdiagnosed an issue. They are the BEST.

So professional. Håkan does an incredible job and it’s done right. I’ve had my 2001 Volvo V70 for many years and it has been serviced by many mechanics. Håkan’s work is reliable and fair. He charged me ¹⁄₃ the price of what a shop in Alhambra, CA attempted to fix and totally screwed up on.

These guys are simply the best. They are true experts in the vehicles they service (far better and more knowledgeable than the dealership), and have a true customer service mentality. On several occasions I have had emergency issues that they worked after hours to resolve… just so I could get my car (and my life) back as quickly as possible.
I trust these people completely, and can always depend upon them for the safety of my car, myself, and my family.

We’re so happy we found this place – it’s our go-​to repair place for our Volvo sedan. It was giving us some problems that were really hard to describe, but the guys there were so patient with us, and even stayed late on a Friday to make sure they got the job done so we could get our car back for the weekend.
We brought the car back in after a few weeks because we noticed a slight problem with the car shifting while it was idling, and they took it right in and fixed the problem free of cost since we had just been in there a few weeks prior.
They definitely know their stuff when it comes to Volvos and we feel so much more comfortable bringing the car here over a random place in town. The owner is very friendly and keeps in touch with you throughout the process so you feel informed about what exactly they’re working on when it comes to your car!
I’d highly recommend this place to any Volvo owner in the area! They’re quick, efficient and knowledgeable.

This place is simply the best. Håkan and his team are very helpful: they have always quickly diagnosed the problem, taken the time to explain it to me in words I can understand, and given me different options for what to do. They have been honest, friendly and fair, and do great work. I’ve taken my car here for things from a simple oil change and checkup, to more major transmission replacement, and I’ve always come away with good results. I have never written a review before, but this place was good enough to bring me out of my shell. Very highly recommended!

Highly recommend. I have had a really tough time trusting repair shops with my 2004 Saab. My AC recently broke and after running in circles with different mechanics (who charged me lots of money and didn’t fix the problem) I was hesitant to trust anyone new. So I went to the dealer and they told me, just to diagnose the problem, they wanted $ 200. I called Swedish Pro and they said to bring my car in and they’d take a look. And they did. They had my car for over 4 hours and didn’t charge me a dime for their time. A+ service, super nice and knowledgeable.

My boyfriend’s Saab broke down a mile down the street from Swedish Pro Tech (thankfully!) and I was able to have it towed there for a fix. Hakan was so nice and helpful, explaining what was wrong with the car and providing updates as the repair progressed. I was able to get the car back the same day in sparkling condition, which was great! Hakan and the other mechanics are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and I didn’t feel like I was being led into other unnecessary repairs, the same of which can’t be said about most auto repair shops. They did a great job in just a few hours! I would highly recommend this place for a high-​value experience with great customer service.

Simply the Best. When I first drove up to Swedish Pro-​Tech, I just knew that I was in the right place. In the past I’ve had some rough times, but my Volvo is finally in great hands. They are MASTERS at diagnosing and restoring these high-​tech vehicles that pose problems for so many other mechanics. Hakan and his team are honest, more than fair and go above and beyond. To top it off, they’re nice people.

As good as it gets! Reliable, knowledgable mechanics are worth every penny, I recently moved here from Chicago and was looking for a mechanic to service a 99 SAAB viggen and a 07 Volvo xc70, being new to the area and not knowing anybody i thought I’d be trying out mechanics and hoping to find the stellar mechanic I’d know in Chicago, I brought my Viggen in and had the serpentine belt and a new clutch petal replaced, on time with no extra charges or surprises. I’ve had the Viggen back for a month and now feel I’ve found my stellar mechanic on PCH.

Honest, reliable, friendly. Three words that are most likely NOT synonymous with a repair shop, but they completely describe this one. I brought my old volvo here months ago when I was having a whole mess of problems with it. They looked at it for free and told me what they saw and gave me an estimate. FOR FREE! That never happens anymore, anywhere.
Most recently, I brought my other volvo here because I was having some screeching problems with the brakes. They had just put new brakes on it less than a year ago, and changed the brake pads free of charge. How nice is that? The guys are all really nice, and I never feel like they’re lying to me or haggling me into buying other things. They’re honest about what needs to be done, and don’t try to cheat you out of money. They also have a huge waiting area upstairs for you, though the sun just burns through those windows like a crazy sauna in the afternoon. Needless to say, these guys are highly professional, and I definitely recommend them if you own a Swedish car!

What a gift this place is to Volvo owners in the South Bay! They are honest, knowledgable, prompt, and reasonably priced.
I had been having my vehicle serviced at Power Volvo in Torrance, and was suspicious of a lot of the work they performed on my XC 90 that seemed both overpriced and unnecessary. The kicker was a check engine light that they looked at and charged me the $ 119.99 diagnostic hookup fee (twice) then suggested a questionable $ 700 repair to fix it. I was out $ 240 just for a bad conversation.
I then took the car to Hakan Wiberg at Swedish Pro Tech to get another opinion, and he found that the gas cap seal had a leak which was causing the check engine light to come on, and all it needed was a $ 30 gas cap! Problem solved, $ 670 saved. I became a customer for life that day. Don’t waste time and money elsewhere, these guys really know Volvos and will take care of yours.

I am giving this place 5-​Stars and I have never used their services. Why? Well I got a notice from Saab that gave me a discount on my 5,000 service and a few months out my service light came on. So instead of going where Saab was going to send me I thought I would go to Swedish Pro-​Tech because it was more convenient. The gentleman there informed me that he would love to do it and it would cost about $ 150 but he said the 2006 Saab’s all get their 5,000 mile service for free if I went to the dealer. Which we did not know because of the notice sent said I got 20% discount not free. Swedish Pro-​Tech did not have to tell me this and they could have had more business but they are honest and if there is one thing that is hard to find it is an honest auto repair shop. We took it to the dealer in Santa Monica and it was free.
We will be going here when it is not covered by Saab.
