Capital Area Pediatrics

History

Established in 1980.

The concept of Capital Area Pediatrics, Inc., began in the late 1980’s, when Dr. Carl Salsbury, a pediatrician in Falls Church, Va., gathered some fellow pediatricians together to discuss common ideas and challenges.

Eventually, seven practices from throughout northern Virginia decided to form a loose affiliation. They called themselves Affiliated Pediatric Practices, LLC.

As the practices slowly began to share more common administrative functions, four of the seven affiliates decided that a full merger was in their patients’ and staff’s best interests. Thus, in 1998, Capital Area Pediatrics, Inc., was officially created. The original four practices consisted of Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics, Vienna Pediatrics, Watson Salsbury Pediatrics (its two locations are now called Capital Area Pediatrics, Falls Church and Capital Area Pediatrics, Herndon) and Countryside Pediatrics.
