Halstead Dulles

The apartment is good but the management are so bad. I gave notice to leave my apartment in 2 months and then after 1 week from giving the notice I decided to stay in the apartment but the management refused to let me stay and they told me I have to leave and they charged me with the penalty for breaking the lease even I don’t want to break the lease and want to stay in the apartment, they still charged me with the penalty. Also, the service is horrible. My bathroom ceiling starts leaking and I told the office. They came and fixed the ceiling. After one week the ceiling starts leaking again and I told the problem with the upper neighbor bathroom, the service came and fix my ceiling and did not do anything with upper bathroom and this is going on until now.

So I don’t know where the bad reviews are coming from and I can’t really speak to them. I recently moved into Halstead and the staff is great. The amenities are very nice, like the gym, a pool (well its not open right now), yoga room, plus a really nice common area. Personally I like the security and I’d rather jump through those hoops than the alternative (its not like its that cumbersome).
Honestly the only issue I’ve had so far was moving in, the garage entrance isn’t high enough to have a large truck enter. I guess my issues with the place is the garage entrance size, I’m always concerned that one day I won’t be paying enough attention and scrape the side of my car.

I forgot to mention that I can walk to the Herndon Metro and plenty of restaurants that are eclectic… Golds Gym, A1 Bicycle, Shoppers too… ideal location with additional amenities… wonderful!

I’m writing about my horrible experience at Halstead Dulles. Although it’s in a good location but management is really irresponsible. During my stay at Halstead Dulles, I faced so many problems.
1. The house got flooded two times which damaged my property (Yes insurance covered but I paid $ 500), waist my time for several weeks and make my place unlivable.
2. Dishwasher was broken the whole time (I reported several times and it never get fixed)
3. My bike got stolen while it was locked in the garage that needed to be secured by Halstead Dulles. (It was $ 800 bike)
4. Several Fire Alarm which led to many sleepless night.
Those are not what bothered me but the fact is that the response I got from management was really bad. they were very aggressive and every time I try to talk to them they try to avoid having conversation. They refund my $ 500 deductible and when I mentioned that somebody stole my bike she didn’t do any action regarding it. I lived in Bozzuto community before and it was a great experience before the last one.
I highly recommend avoiding Halstead Dulles !

Halstead Dulles is wonderful. Honestly, I don’t understand the bad reviews. I moved here with my boyfriend in May 2013, and we renewed our lease this past May. The staff is incredibly thoughtful and they are so much fun! Every month, the management holds several free resident events from movie nights to breakfasts and even kickboxing and yoga classes! It’s a great way to get to know fellow residents, and the Halstead staff. The amenities include a very nice gym, a pool, a golf simulator (my boyfriend LOVES it), and a yoga/​workout room. There is also a beautiful common area with a computer/​printing area, TV and plenty of seating.
On that note, of course they are going to question people who come into the leasing office. They know all residents, and as residents, we pay for the upkeep of the gym, common areas, etc. We don’t necessarily want people who don’t pay for those amenities coming in and using them without paying. Would you walk into a gym that requires a membership and expect not to be questioned when you don’t have a membership card to show?
As far as pet fees go, we have a cat. I thought the idea of «pet rent» was ridiculous. I moved from Boston where that didn’t exist. So the pet rent was something we really looked into when we moved down here. Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, Halstead Dulles was one of the LEAST expensive in the area.
The layout of the complex is actually nice. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but it’s nice because I can consider that as my exercise when I don’t feel like going to the gym. The apartments themselves are excellent. We did end up moving to a two bedroom from a one bedroom with a den, and we loved both of them. The maintenance crew also responds almost immediately to requests. I don’t believe we’ve ever had to wait more than 24 hours to have a leaky facuet fixed, etc. I can’t recall any other time we had to have them come in.
The staff at Halstead truly does care about their residents. Everything, from the gym to the apartments, is kept in excellent condition. If you really want to have something to complain about, move to Boston where landlords (Alpha management) don’t respond to complaints about things as serious as carbon monoxide leaks and rat infestations.

I had horrible experience with the manager over at the leasing office. She was rude, and hasty to my son who was waiting for me to pick him up from school at the club house. They say it is for our use, however it is not– they monitor who comes in/​out which I enjoyed for security reasons at first until it became very personal and started to get annoying. I’ve never had my son or myself mistreated by our concierge, and you can’t even avoid them because they question almost everyone who enters your door, so if you are thinking about bringing guests to the club house– think twice… they may tell you one thing when you sign the contract but once you’re locked in you will be trapped.
