Herndon Festival

GREAT festival! Family friendly and very unique. You will enjoy the atmosphere and everything else this Festival has to offer!
Herndon always has the best events!

My wife and I took our 18 month old grandson to the Herndon Festival on Saturday during the afternoon. You cannot beat the free price for just walking around and seeing the crafts and people watching. It was perfect for us because he cannot ride the rides and the afternoon was a little less crowded than evening. He was able to walk around a little bit but even in the afternoon it was a little too crowded to let him walk around everywhere. The food and drinks are equally priced to other local fairs and festivals. There were two stages with live music. While we were there the main stage had a rock band and as they finished the Café’ stage started up with a folk music type band. Even though they were very different, both added to the atmosphere. Security was great. Police from all local jurisdictions were present and walking around, making themselves seen. We specifically chose the afternoon over the evening because the clientele is much less gang related. The only downside with the free price tag is that it does not keep the trashy people from coming out and ruining it for everyone.

It has becoming more and more expensive. Last time was 1.25 $ a ticket and most rides are 3 – 5 tickets per person. The ride duration is very short too. So, if you have a family of four, expect to spend at least 100 $ in a couple of hours including food and games.
Band music every night at the Home Depot sponsored stage. Musicians are OK.
Security looks great with policemen walking every where.

This was a drag. Expensive food, no music, and I might as well have you been in Mexico or some other country. It’s been getting worse every year and this year was the worst. Won’t be going back.

If you have kids the rides and carnival is fun. They have fireworks and live music. Must go to.

Having grown up in Herndon, I have been to the festival nearly every year for the past 25 odd years. As I have grown, my love for the Herndon Festival has never wavered. The event is full of things to do for young and old alike. For the crafty folk out there, visit on the weekend, which is also when there is the most food vendors. Thursday night is usually my favorite night however, as it isn’t quite as crowded, and the music is followed by fireworks.

This is an annual festival runnings for 4 days over the first weekend in June. In terms of small town fairs this one is tops with great music, vendors and a high energy level. Did I mention the fireworks? Each year these are among the best fireworks going. The opening Thursday night has a good display but the Saturday night show is great with a 20 minute long amazing pyrotechnics display that is perfectly choreographed to the accompanying music. The song lyrics even align with the displays lighting up the sky. A variety of bands pay on several different stages throughout the festival and carnival rides and booths keep the area packed till late at night. Best to park in Reston and walk.
