This fitness facility provides athletes with everything you need to train and reach your goals.
The basketball court is nice, I would like for the floor to be swept and mopped more often to maintain a safe environment while playing basketball. The rims are double rimmed which is not regulation. Please keep the air conditioner turned off in winter time. Athletes should not have to play BBALL games with a full sweatsuit ok due to the gym freezing. I continue to inform the HVAC associate, but every morning I request to have the AC turned off!!!
I would like the hours of operation to be more available on the weekend with an earlier open start.
Paying $ 20 for a one day guest pass seems to be over priced.

What I hate the most about Worldgate is that the housekeepers use same towels people use after showering to wipe their faces and bodies to clean sinks, floors, weight machines and then they go and scrub the toilets. The same thing at Tyson’s Sports and Health.
Yes, TOILETS! Where their own members defecate! I’ve seen it with my own eyes! They also put these towels on the floor and use their feet (with shoes on of course) to wipe the wet floor. Then it goes into the bin with all the other towels to be washed and put back folded for members to use… again to wipe their faces and dry off their bodies and back once again to scrub the toilets never ending cycle .YUK
This practice is not only gross but also very disrespectful. Sport and Health staff would NEVER use same towel to clean their toilet and wipe their face in their own house. Simply despicable! Or maybe some would and do!!! And why the management (or Lack Of) is not addressing this issue more aggressively is truly beyond me. Current General Manager WTF? budget problems… I mean really??? Your a Dumbass
Also, I happened to look inside of a plastic bin they use to collect used towels, it was FILTHY. It had dirt, slimy looking things and chewing gum stuck on the bottom. I know it is used to collect used towels but come on! Really? Why? How? Was this bin once used as a trash can or maybe a diaper pale?

I joined to this club on December 15. It’s good but really overpriced .
The quality of shampoo and conditioner are not that good

The gym is actually really nice, however the salespeople are obnoxious. I was looking around at gyms in the area and got a 3 day pass to try it out. Before I could actually try the equipment, I was stuck with a salesperson for 45 min. I understand they’re trying to sell memberships, however I am not going to decide whether I want to become a member without trying the gym out for a couple of days. The salesperson I dealt with asked about 5 times if I wanted to sign up then and there, then he called my cell phone a few times and emailed me. Needless to say, I did not use my three day pass… that one day was the first and last time I will be going here.

The facilities are okay but the club is overpriced. We used it only to play squash occasionally and had to pay squash court usage fee in addition to the hefty membership fees each month. Not worth it for us in hindsight so we decided to cancel our membership.
We used to belong to this club many years back when they had contracts, left for a few years and then re-​joined a couple of years back. When we re-​joined, we were told that the club was now contract free, month to month membership and that we could cancel at any time with 30-​days notice. We emailed them last month to cancel our membership on the 28^th. We were told that since our message was received after the 25^th of the month, we would have to pay dues for October and November before our membership could be cancelled.
I was unhappy with this and called their General Manager (Emery) who kept saying that it’s company policy and that they can’t really help us. So a 30 day notice is really more like a 65 day notice! They were willing to give us a complimentary month some time in the future if we decide to re-​join (which is worthless to me right now). It is unfortunate that they choose to hold members hostage and hide behind a company policy as opposed to doing the right thing for the customers.
They’ve essentially guaranteed that I’ll never return to the club as a member ever again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else. There are plenty of other great options in the NoVA region…

This gym is really expensive compared to the one I went to before moving to Herndon. For $ 70, you have to pay a lot extra for the tennis court. I believe it’s about $ 27 per hour in the evening. Especially when I am only paying 20 to learn for two hours. Also, their hours are really inconvenient; they closed at 8 on the weekend. I used to go really late at night. I would shop around for better deal before signing a year contract.

I’m kind of surprised that the average for this gym isn’t higher. I’ve been a member for more than a year, and overall I’m really pleased with this gym.
It _​is_​expensive – I pay $ 70 for access to all Sport&Health gyms around the DC area. I have a membership through my employer, which is about to come to an end, so maybe then my opinion will worsen; a lot of complaints against this gym seem to relate to coercive or unethical membership practices. Right now I have a month-​to-​month membership that comes out of my paycheck before taxes – so I really can’t complain.
The gym is really clean. Sometimes at high-​traffic times it can get a bit icky, but overall the maintenance people do great work. They and the people who work at the front desk are friendly too, at least to me – it may be different if you go there less – but I really love the friendliness. Some gym patrons are friendly as well. The other Sport&Health location I frequent is Bethesda, and I can say I strongly prefer the other gym members in Herndon! Though the Bethesda staff members are often also friendly.
There’s a good selection of classes offered at a range of times, and they’re included in your membership. I went for a while to a 6 a.m. Bodypump class. But I’ve also been to that class at 7:30 p.m.
The machines are in pretty good condition. There are several TVs with closed captioning at the front of the cardio machine area, as well as many machines with personal TV monitors. The channel selection is pretty limited, but there _​is_​a channel selection. I’ve never had to wait for a machine at this location.
The cardio machines, circuit training equipment, and free weights are on a level where the wifi, at least for me, works poorly or not at all a lot of the time.
I use the circuit training area occasionally and the free weights rarely. The circuit training area could be much more clearly organized, but some of that has to do with the fact that it includes a _​lot_​of machines. Which actually is good, as it makes it easier to find an alternative if one doesn’t work for your body shape and size. There’s a good quantity of mats, stretching equipment, and foam rollers, as well as place to spread out for stretching or calisthenics.
Parking is also a breeze. The shopping center where the gym is located has underground parking, which is wonderful in winter. Right now the center is in the middle of an incredibly attractive, and slow, renovation, so there are all of these weird partitions in the parking garage. But there are still spaces. I would guess this would be resolved in a month or two.
And finally, gym members are of a range of ages. I see people my age (late thirties), families, kids, teens, and young and older adults.

Not worth $ 70/​month and I had to pay a $ 100 early termination because I cancelled my membership due to moving and not having a gym close to my new house. Also, the cardio area always smells bad, the building is under constant construction, parking is bad, and there are never any open lanes in the pool. You can join the Reston Sport & Health which is 5 mnutes away for $ 40/​month or join Gold’s down the street for even less.

Loved this gym. Came here everyday while I was traveling here weekly for work. Excellent strength, cardio, stretching, locker room, and other facilities. Attentive staff of all types. Everything is clean. Gym equipment is placed in logical order so you can zone in on your workout. Plenty of space so crowding wasn’t an issue for me. Highly recommend.

Sport and Health at Worldgate is a great gym. It’s one of my favorites I’ve used; though my first and only in Northern VA.
Locker room: The women’s locker room is nice. It offers privacy to change and is never too crowded where you feel your cramped. They keep it clean. Only thing I wish they had was better soap/​shampoo/​conditioner/​lotion; low quality, as in most gyms.
Track: The upstairs track is awesome. I use it often and lately the open space up there has been available for me to use and do my own workouts. There is a good amount of equipment up there if you like to take up space and do your own thing
Classes: I like almost all of the classes I’ve taken here. I particularly like body pump which I frequent. I’ve tried insanity, zumba, cardio kickboxing, cardio mashup; all of which were good for what they offer. Cycling is good too, though be prepared for a sore tush afterwards.
Cardio deck: The large downstairs area with ellipticals, treadmills, stairclimbers, etc. is good. Good equipment to use and plenty of TV’s if you like to watch while you workout/​
Weight Floor: Good equipment, sometimes have to wait for machines, but never too crowded that it’s hectic.
Small Group Training: I did about 6 months of TNT which was a very good program that truly works. However, it’s WAY overpriced. If you really need the structure and someone forcing you, however, its a good option if you can afford it.
Overall/​Summary: The prices at sport and health are comparable to others in the area. Only thing I would consider leaving for is if they build a Planet Fitness nearby. I would rather pay $ 10 a month and be able to bring a guest than $ 50 a month, even if it meant loosing classes. This is a great gym, the staff is friendly, though there seems to be a high sales turnover.

Literally one of the best gyms I have been to in VA. When we used to live in Herndon, this definitely was the place to be to get your work out at. It’s much more than a gym, it’s a health club. If your looking for a gym with all sorts of bells and whistles this is the place to be.
It’s a multi level faculty with all sorts of machines, classes, indoor tracks, racquetball courts, squash courts, children babysitting area, indoor pool and sauna and I don’t know how much more because I have a feeling I may be forgetting something!
After moving to Ashburn, this gym was a bit expensive to be coming to this location so we decided to get done with our membership. Overall, I would recommend anyone in the Herndon/​Reston area to try it out. Now living in Florida, I miss such a big gym with such great amenities.~

Before I start: I just joined today after having tried the place out for the last week, so I haven’t been there that long. I have not tried any of the personal training services, as I prefer to do solo workouts.
Summary: Sport&Health has the nicest facilities of any gym I’ve been to. I’m glad I joined. There are a few small issues, but I didn’t consider them dealbreakers.
Things I like:
* They have more amenities than I’ve ever seen anywhere else: not just towels, but soap, shampoo, shaving cream, q-​tips, hair dryers, and even an iron and ironing board.
* I’ve only used the pool once, but even when they started taking over lanes for a class towards the end of my swim, there were still some lanes open for lap swimming.
* Every other pool I’ve used in the last few years has caused my eyes to be irritated for the rest of the day, despite wearing goggles. Apparently someone actually knows how to manage pool chemicals here because that didn’t happen.
* Gender-​segregated, swimsuit-​optional whirlpools — I know they’re not for everyone, but I liked this.
* Really good selection of cardio machines, from rowers to treadmills to bikes and ellipticals. I especially like that they have Precor EFX546 ellipticals — I hate the ones with the moving handles. The machines seemed to be in good repair.
* They did not give me the hard sell when it came to membership. I brought in my trial pass from the web, they gave me a temporary card, and that was it. They offered me a tour, I declined, and they gave me the membership when I decided to join. Nice and simple. The one way to turn me off of buying something is to try and shove it at me.
* You can rent lockers on a monthly basis if you prefer to leave stuff there rather than keep hauling it back and forth. Haven’t decided if I want to do this yet, but it’s nice to have the option.
* In the women’s locker room, at least, you don’t need a lock. The lockers have keys, and you put your membership card in a slot in the locker door and leave it there to take the key out. The keys have pins so you won’t lose them. You do have to remember to take your card when you’re done.
* The women’s locker room has a lot more space than the ones I’ve seen at any other gym.
* They do play music, but it’s not very loud. (Since I, like most people, tend to bring my own, I hate it when gyms blast music — especially as it’s rarely music I actually like.)
Things I’m not so crazy about:
* I had some trouble finding weight machines I liked — the ones I tried on my first visit just all felt weird to me. But there are a ton of them, and today I was able to find a set I could work with.
* As another reviewer said, the showers are definitely old and look kind of moldy. But I wear flip-​flops in gym showers, so it didn’t bother me much as I wasn’t touching anything anyway. (I have not had any problems with the water not being hot enough, though.)
* A lot of the lockers in the women’s locker room seem to have broken locks. (I haven’t had trouble finding a working one, though.)

Do you love ice cold showers and mold in your bathrooms?
How about equipment that either doesn’t work or the TV’s don’t work.
Then, this is the gym for you.
Forget about providing feedback to management. They have ignored these problems for years.
They have lost hundreds of people during this past 6 months due to the opening of LifeTime Fitness in Reston. Sport and Health in Herndon still doesn’t get and still delivers a third world gym.

Did the 14 day free pass. Good staff, nice facilities. I mainly wanted to swim– will let you know the pool is usually free but it is short (25 m) and shallow (5 feet depth?)
Nice people there, but don’t get pressured into a membership.

This is the best. gym. ever.
I love the group exercise classes, the instructors are FANTASTIC! In particular, Karen & Kim for body pump and Cathy for kickboxing. The gym is always clean and has fresh towels available. They even have an ice bin downstairs for you to refill your water bottle.
I also really love the garage parking! It makes it easier to get those workouts in during the cold winter months.
I’m devastated to say I moved to Ashburn and made the worst mistake of signing up with Gold’s gym because it was closer to my house. After my 2 year contract expires, I will definitely look into re-​joining with Worldgate… i miss you S&H!

I get in, do my thing, take a shower and get out.
The gym doesn’t look as old as it actually is. The equipment looks somewhat new. A few look a decade old. There’s probably a dozen different styles of ellipticals and 3 dozen treadmills.
My only gripes are that the hot tubs are in the locker rooms and not in the pool area.
The shower area is covered in tile and looks original. Some of the shower stalls are a little gross with mildew in the grouting and rust on the metals.
The men’s locker rooms will require you to bring a lock. I was told that for the women’s however, you’ll have to use your membership card (if you have a full size one, not just the key ring one) or get a keycard from the front desk.
I’ve never had to wait for a machine or to use equipment.
Overall, it’s not a bad place.

I love Sport & Health. I’m more of a get in do what I need to do and get out, kind of girl but this gym has changed me. I joined about 2 months ago and I always enjoy my workouts. When I joined, I received 3 free training sessions and Marcus is awesome. He does a great job of keeping me motivated to work hard and we also have fun while I am doing it. Would definitely suggest signing up with him. There are lots of trainers that look great as well.
There isn’t typically a wait for any equipment and the gym is really clean. Lots of different classes each day. Great basketball court, tennis and racquetball courts as well. If you are looking for a great gym, I would suggest paying the extra costs to join Worldgate Sport and Health. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I wish they stayed open later.

NOTE: The facilities at this gym are varied and high-​quality. My review is about my personal experience as a member of this gym. I’ve experienced «customer service» more aggravating than any I could’ve imagined prior to joining this gym.
This is the worst gym I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I’ve been playing competitive sports since infancy, and have moved at least once every year for the last 5 years. I’m always a member of a gym where I live, and sport&health at World Gate has been the most harrowing experience of any – by far.
While a member of the gym, I had purchased a package of (non-​refundable) Personal Training sessions. The trainer I did my introductory session with texted me several times trying to schedule me, and then suddenly disappeared. I spent a period of time trying to reach him before giving up. Weeks later I was contacted by a new trainer, explaining that the first had left the company. We had one session, then he was missing the next time, then he scheduled someone else the same time I’d scheduled him, and then he too left the company.
You’d think non-​refundable purchases by the customer would put some sort of onus on the business to provide any sort of reliability, but unfortunately sport&health doesn’t seem to agree.
I left the area and the gym in October of last year. After being charged for November I realized I hadn’t withdrawn and set on a quest to make that happen. I did not realize what a nightmare that would be.
After emails, phone calls, and literal letters, I was still charged in February. I had my credit card block the charge, and sport&health tried again in March. Chase (wonderful customer service at Chase) blocked the charge and prevented them from being able to place another charge on my card.
Four months have gone by and I was contacted today, the 8^th of July, about my outstanding balance with sport&health. Though it was the General Manager of the location, he said he had no power to wipe out the balance even though I’d paid for a full three months of membership after I’d left the gym.
If you own a house in Herndon and plan on attending sport&health for the rest of your life, it is a very well-​equipped gym. I wouldn’t recommend trying to make personal training happen, and if you think you might ever want to leave the gym, do yourself the biggest favor you can and STAY AWAY! I’ve never experienced such awful customer service in any capacity before, ever.
It’s a sad, embarrassing day when any company makes Verizon and Comcast look customer-​friendly, but sport&health is doing a better job of it than I could imagine.

The membership director I worked with Erin F was such a pleasant experience. I had my sister and kids over and she let all of them come down to the gym for a day which I thought was very gracious of her and the gym.
I wish we had more zumba classes taught by Bri, she is an excellent teacher. I am glad i joined this place!

I came here as the guest of a member, and I was really impressed. The facility is nice and clean and pretty big, including the locker rooms. Because of its location in an office complex, it wasn’t crowded at all on a weekend, but I imagine this is not the case if you want to go on the weekdays after work.
I didn’t get a membership because the location isn’t good for me, but I wouldn’t hesitate to join if I lived nearby.
