The Spa At The Hotel Hershey

As a frequent visitor of Hershey Spa, I decided to rate my last visit (four services on three different days) this past long weekend. Overall, the Hershey Spa is an excellent experience that offers unique treatments (chocolate theme!) preformed by friendly and talented staff. The Spa’s two (small) downfalls are that it is an older/​worn spa and features only average communal places (small locker room, decent waiting rooms).
Perhaps my favorite service this past weekend was the Mojito Body Wrap. The lotion and soap used smelled heavenly, fresh, and surprisingly was not overwhelming. i actually bought some lotion afterwards in the gift shop I liked it so much. The warm Vichy shower was wonderful and relaxing. The technician Sara K. was phenomenal and couldn’t have made me feel more comfortable; her energy was both positive and calming and she was sensitive to my needs. I highly recommend requesting her by name.
The Whipped Cocoa Bath was terrific; again a relaxing treatment (dimmed lights, high bath bubbles dusted generously with Hershey’s cocoa powder, and warm water in a deep bath tub) with a nice clinician (Megan) who made me feel comfortable. Looking back I do feel that $ 50 for a timed 15 minute specialized bath is a bit overpriced and a treatment that I may not book again anytime soon although it was enjoyable at the time.
The Sweet Feed pedicure with Jolene was great, a standard spa pedicure. Jolene was attentive and open to my concerns (as a runner my feet are pretty beat up!) I couldn’t smell the chocolate scented lotions and scrubs from my chair but they looked pretty.
Lastly my hair blowout with Fallon was nice. She has a warm and engaging personality and listened to my hair requests (not a given by hair stylists).
You’ll certainly enjoy your experience at Hershey Spa but book early… they sell out weeks in advance.

I always enjoy going to spa’s and Hotel Hershey is by far my favorite spa. The facility is gorgeous, they offer fantastic services, very relaxing. They have three separate spaces that are co-​sex, aside from the dressing rooms of course, which allows couples to spend time together. That I found great. They have a Quiet room, which allows whispering, an incense and speaking room, which allowed full voice talking, and a silent room, which allowed no speaking at all. While I was there, I made use of each room. The silent room being my favorite, although we did have a run in with a group of people that wouldn’t stop whispering and laughing in the silent room, that won’t affect my review.
The spa technicians were a delight to work with. They were friendly and focused on areas that needed work, in example my lower back was a mess before I went. After a hot stone massage I feel good as new! I’ve gone to Hotel Hershey numerous times before, and will continue to go back. They keep wowing me each time. Thank you to all the wonderful employees!

From the massages to the facials they are a wonderful indulgence.
Facials — over the years I have tried the prescription facial, coco facial, sweet bliss and new coco facial. The new coco facial is amazing as is the sweet bliss with high point hand and feet rituals. The rituals will make u forget u are in Pennsylvania and are not whisked away to another world. The soaks in the high point rituals start the facial off in a relaxing way.
The new coco facial has scents of rose, coco and vanilla. All of which are sure to relax you. The products are amazing and are even sold in the store! The best part is the scrub is edible!
For the massages — wow. They have hot stone, lomi lomi, Swedish, sports, coco, regular etc. I’ve tried over the last 10 years prob every one — my favorite is the traditional coco massage. The room they bring you to is unlike any other spa I have been to — low music, lighting, historic architecture — the setting is perfect.
I’ve also tried scrubs — the sugars tent to be a bit rough. The coco scrub in my opinion is the best — they start with a coco mixture that is creamy and a bit rough to polish the skin. It is then followed by coco moisturizer that I have used a home for years because I love it so much! The only thing about the scrubs is you have to get over the oddity of sitting with towels draped over you to remain modest — it can be a bit odd at times — but once u get it out of your head you will love the results!
My husbands favorites are the whisky facial, shave and a haircut and the massages. He loves the fact that if he doesn’t want to smell like a floral bouquet he can choose unscented oil!

My father purchased a gift card of 225 for my mothers birthday. We were to pick up the gift card when we went to the hotel for dinner. It would be at the front desk. The front desk told us they never received a gift card and said they could not find a transaction, even though the money was removed from my fathers account. My father has tried calling the spa and no one will return his calls. How disgusting. I guess we will have to cancel the gift card through his credit card. I have been to many upscale spas and this has been the worst customer service.

I love the facility, there’s a nice area to rest, relax and wait. I also like that they have showers, hair dryer and other stuff.
They have this so called «quite room» but it’s not actually that quite. They have people talking and laughing out loud, so much for what they call a quite room unfortunately.
One thing that didn’t make any sense is they only have one changing room.
The reason why I am giving them one star is because I am very disappointed with the outcome. First of all my masseuse is late she came out to get me at 12:10, my appointment is 12pm then she finished at 1:20.
I paid for 80 minutes chamomile massage (Swedish) I specifically mentioned on the form and advised my masseuse (Natasha) to focus on my back, shoulder and neck. I even told her that I don’t need much time on my feet and other parts of my body, and that my right shoulder is been aching and hurting.
She spent so much time massaging my arms, legs, feet, face and head. All the time was wasted where I really didn’t need the massage. By the time she has to work on my back I only got 10 minutes left. I asked if she can do a bit harder, she said that would be a dip tissue massage, and I’ve been giving you a lot of pressure.
I am so surprised why she has to response in such a rude manner and it’s very inappropriate (to reason out).
I’ve been to many different spas nobody ever response or refuse when I ask for something. They usually accommodate my request and they don’t say a word. They show respect and cooperation, but not Natasha, she refused and didn’t pay attention to what I told her from the very beginning. She did her own thing and rush for the next client.
I’m so in disbelief. I just tried to go along for whatever the hell it is. What’s the point of asking your client about their current condition and where they should focus? It’s useless. I was very upfront from the very beginning (on paper and verbal). She didn’t care at all.
When our session is done she emphasize that she put a lot pressure and that next time when I come back that I should sign up for dip tissue massage. I was honest with her that her service is just okay and that she didn’t spend a lot time and focus to what I asked for. She knows that I am not pleased with her service.
Even the front desk is clueless, they didn’t care what’s on the form and what my concerns are.
The service that I received is definitely not worth the amount that I paid for
I expect cooperation, accommodation, and respect when it comes to any luxury spa. Well so far I had great experienced somewhere else but not here. I will never come back for a massage in this place and I will not recommend it to anybody. It blows!

I went here before my wedding and had 4 treatments done — some kind of shower thing, a body scrub, a body wrap, and a massage. The shower thing wasn’t my favorite, but I’m not a huge fan of water treatments. The body wrap was the most incredible thing ever, and the massage was great, too. I’m dying to go back!
The whole experience was incredibly relaxing, and I love the atmosphere of the different rooms. Everyone was friendly, and it was exactly what I wanted out of a spa experience.

Very happy with my first time spa visit at the hotel Hershey. Yes, it is pricey, but you get what you pay for. The staff is courtesy and professional. Very relaxing. This is definitely the place to go if you love spas, and want to treat yourself after a long year of hard work!

Terrible experience. The guy I had for my massage was very creepy and breathed heavily the whole time and I felt like he was right at my face constantly. He rushed the whole service and I left feeling like I got beat up. I’ve come three years in a row with my family for Christmas and haven’t been satisfied with any of my massages I’ve had. I work at a spa back home and know what a good massage should feel like. I think you pay a lot for the poor services you receive in my opinion. Has potential to be a great place if they had service providers who knew what they were doing.

Had a mixed experience — the day started on an awesome note with a sugar scrub by Lauren. It was AMAZING! She was professional and the product really made my skin soft. However, from there I went to my massage, which was a terrible and uncomfortable experience. The guy who did my massage, Matt, was very creepy and it felt like he was breathing on top of my face the entire time. He was really rough with me, even when I asked him to be more gentle. He also kept pulling my legs and arms, not massaging them. I left the experience feeling creeped out and sore. Luckily, we had lunch afterwards at the Oasis and that was an incredible treat — delicious foods/​desserts all while you sit in your spa robes overlooking beautiful scenery Overall a great day with the exception of Matt and the massage.

First I have to give praise to Gail in group services. We had a big group of girls on a really busy weekend and she did amazing at all the problems I threw her way. The spa itself was everything I had dreamed of and more. From the relaxation rooms, to the muffins to the services themselves… everything was top notch. Really had to resist the urge to lick my shoulder during the chocolate wrap!

Came here for a girl’s weekend with my mom and sister, wanted to love it, was underwhelmed.
First of all, this place is crowded. It constantly felt like the number of bathroom/​shower stalls/​lounge chairs were inadequate for the number of patrons, because they were. The locker room only has one changing stall, which was really inadequate.
In most other spas I’ve been to (all in hotels), there are separate whirlpool/​sauna/​steam facilities for spa patrons. In this one, you’re using the same thing as the other hotel guests, which include a lot of kids, so that kind of takes away from the spa experience.
Two of my treatments were great — the chocolate bean polish and rose garden massage were great; the providers were skilled and all of the products used smelled great.
My Cuban pedicure was fine, but the polish job on my manicure was one of the worst I’ve had, the finish wasn’t smooth and was just disappointing.
One highlight was the spa lunch — probably the best I ate all weekend, good food/​dessert selection and worth the $ 20.
If you’re here with kids and need to get away for a bit, this spa will do the trick. If you’re looking for an actual spa vacation in central PA, you’re much better off going to Bedford Springs.

Ive been to 100 spas and this one is completely overrated. I specifically asked for a male tech for my massage and was told the only time they could accommodate was 4pm. So as I am waiting 10 minutes past the hour, a female tech comes to get me. They could have at least been up front about it when I checked in. Plus their air conditioner was broken and 100 degrees in the spa. No one that worked there really cared about the mix up and I just declined the service and hope that credit me back. I won’t be back.

I’ve been to a lot of spas and this place will always rank as one of my favs. I got three services (rain shower, chocolate sugar scrub, and a massage), and I paid extra to also have the lunch service afterwards. I felt so pampered and wonderful. My absolute favorite was the chocolate sugar scrub! Although the other two services were good too. What was so neat is that when I was finished being pampered with services, I could stay in my nice, warm, comfortable, relaxing robe and go to a healthy buffet lunch with lots of good food and yummy chocolate (and not chocolate too) desserts. Everyone was in their robes! It was cool! And the waiting areas between services were super. A fire, a scented room, a very quiet room, muffins, cocoa, tea, water, chocolate kisses everywhere!!! I was in heaven!

This started out as a five star experience and ended with an inappropriate yelling and rude employee.
My colleague and I choose to relax after a long week. The service was fantastic at the beginning (masseuse was attentive, great at the massage). The amenities were comfortable, with sweeping views of the Hershey Hotel grounds. All in all, it was a relaxing morning (very quiet!). We were kindly directed to the spa lunch, which was alright (the desserts were delicious, the main course was not my cup of tea).
And then… the interaction with the front desk attendant. Based on a misunderstanding on both sides, my colleague and I did not know that the spa lunch was not included. Fortunately, I came back up to ensure that my massage tab was squared away, and we were able to pay for the additional services rendered without looking like we skipped out on the tab.
When asked about the misunderstanding, the employee raised her voice and started yelling at us (really?! In a spa?!) about how «we were wrong and told her misinformation». Not only was this embarrassing and rude, it looked poor upon her.
Without the last 30 minutes of that experience, we had a great time. But wow, did I leave with a sour taste in my mouth. Word of advice… There is no such thing as a free lunch!

I paid a lot of money to go to the spa and stay at the hotel. Over $ 550 for a mani, pedi, hydrotherapy, lunch and one night stay.
After just 6 days, my gel manicure is peeling. I’m so disappointed. What a waste of money. I won’t be back.
The pedicure was the only highlight — that’s why I’m giving 2 stars. Autumn was new and did an incredible job.

If Matt comes to collect you for your massage, run the other way. Do not pass go, do not collect $ 200. After his massage, ie a vigorous rub down (which is not a massage to me), I had upper back pain as if I slept wrong. The pain is worse today and I can’t twist my back (like in a yoga stretch). I’m very fit and get massages regularly, none have ever felt like this and I’ve never had so much residual pain after. I’m miserable today and wishing I ran the other way when he came to get me. The quality of my life sucks today and the pain is unbearable :(.
My friends had good experiences though– all of their treatments were by woman.
By the way, I had an aromatherapy massage, not a deep tissue…
The good is: my bad massage was made right by the spa. Their customer service is exemplary. If you have a bad experience, they will make it right.

My experience at the Spa was a series of ups and downs. Upon checking in, the receptionist promptly forgot about us and then we were rushed to get into our first appointment. And then rushed through that appointment. Which, was not our fault and we were not compensated for, or really even apologized to about. This first appointment was one of three and was a spa shower. It could be because I am short, but I did not enjoy it. I felt like I was drowning and could not breath. I was constantly struggling to breath against the hurricane swirl of water, that I could enjoy the benefits of the water treatment.
The second treatment was a cocoa scrub, which was fantastic and I highly recommend it. It felt great, left my skin nice and smooth and I smelled of lovely chocolate for the rest of the day.
The third treatment was a massage and this was also wonderful. I felt really relaxed. In between appointments, I was able to relax in the quiet room, which had tea, water and light snacks. It had a very nice atmosphere.
Overall, the experience could have been improved, but, I would go back for that cocoa scrub in a minute.

Let’s review the lunch buffet. Before we booked our spa appointments we really didn’t know if the extra $ 20 for a lunch meal was worth it. Well it sure was!
You can sit inside or outside (although the patio is small) to enjoy your meal. You have a choice of water, tea, coffee or cocoa included with your meal or you can order drinks a la carte. Severs are friendly and helpful.
Offerings include a salad, vegetables, grilled chicken, pasta salad, and choice of soups. A short menu, but has good quality. I was filled. Oh! And as you would expect from Hershey… The desserts were rich and delicious! Each one worth at least $ 5 a piece. The lemon bar and the chewy nutty pecan were my favorites! You get your $$ worth here. Ladies come down in their spa robes or walk in from the hotel and make it is as low-​key or as fancy as you want.
My spa appt was good but could have been better. The specialist started late and them ended my appointment a bit early. In short, I didn’t get a full hour of treatment. I imagine she used my time slot to get caught up in her day. Humph. She was nice enough but could have been more thorough.
The aromatherapy room was great. I loved the chocolate kisses everywhere. The other amenities were lovely! I say this is a one-​time indulgence but I’m not going back as a regular though.

I am giving this a 3 because my first three visits there over the past few years were amazing. The chocolate massage was one of the best things I’ve ever experienced and the spa itself is beautiful with previously friendly and awesome staff.
More recently, though, went and got the Hershey Kiss package and was a few minutes late on arrival. The girl at the desk was pretty snippy and had me sign off on all my services for the package and afterwards asked if I really wanted them because I was late. The relaxation room was not as clean as it used to be and the muffin tongs were covered with a ton of previously tonged muffin goo but what really upset me was the massage therapist, Zoe, who ignored me when I asked if she could focus on my back for my chocolate massage because «she had a system and felt like she had to do everything» so I got like a 30 minute foot rub and she told me I didn’t have any knots in my back, just tension, which wouldn’t go away until the tension in my life was gone and I should just go see a chiropractor.
Since I’m a physician mom, I’m pretty sure the «tension» in my life isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and if I needed life advice I would have paid to see a therapist or some kind of guru not a masseuse who was just supposed to give me a chocolate massage.
Manager gave me half credit for the massage but entire service package was still about $ 200 and I walked out of there feeling worse than when I walked in. I don’t really have time for this kind of aggravation since I treat myself pretty much once a year… I won’t be back.

We traveled as a group for a ladies weekend to celebrate a dear friends upcoming wedding, sadly I was left unimpressed. I’ve been to many of spas, some high end and others lower end and this one was at the bottom of my list. For the price paid I was expecting much more. We booked as a group, received a ton of confirmation emails, but none that noted we needed bathing suits for some of the treatments. They offered a disposable suit at an additional cost to us and wouldn’t allow us to switch treatments, big disappointment. They also failed to let us know breakfast was served, so we all rushed around to eat before our arrival.
The relaxation rooms are odd, not very spa like, and very crowded and unrelaxing. The furniture was stiff and felt like you were in a hotel room, not a spa.
The only part of my Hershey hug package that was worth it was the massage. Great therapist and I left smelling like chocolate. The body wrap isn’t at all worth it, you can loofa and lotion yourself with a nice high end Shea bitter for under $ 30 whereas this portion costs $ 100+
I’ve heard such great things about this spa, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. The girls all enjoyed ourselves and our company, but it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for.
