Your average, local liquor store. The couple that runs the place is very nice and super helpful. They pack a pretty big selection for such a small store. Their liquor is well priced. The wine can run a little over, however they offer very good specials.

Even though I moved to the Boston area in 2007, I still do the bulk of my liquor shopping when I visit my parents on Long Island.
John Q consistently has excellent, discounted prices and a wide variety of wines and hard liquor. They have an ongoing 10% discount on 6 bottles and 20% discount on 12 bottles of wine, as well as coupons (cash only).
I was impressed that they’re open until 8 PM – including Easter Sunday — as we were in the market to pick out a few bottles of wine. When inquiring about recommended Sauvignon Blancs, the owner was friendly and knowledgeable about popular selections from New Zealand.
As a huge fan of port wine, I appreciate the good deals on the better bottles that I wouldn’t consider at other stores because of the markup. You’ll find fantastic prices and good hours — two very important things for discerning wine buyers!
